Why bother with a kill, that just slows down the game. 20/40 OE or HORSE is perfict, I know of many regular PLO and 7 Stud players at Foxwoods who will be very interested including myself.

Thursday or Friday are good days, many players show up and the room is busy enough to catch straglers.

Counting down a pot? Are dealers that atrocious? Mohegan Sun (Uncasville, CT)

New tournament. Holiday Hangover. 4 flights starting on 12/26 with day 2 on 12/29. $250 buy in, $50k guaranteed. Seems crazy to have 4 flights to meet $50k. What does the $350 get that they run once a month?

That was their standard holiday tourney & gtd pre-2020. Mohegan has never been good when they run bigger tourneys with the expectation of the convention center NAPT/Deeps Stacks ones in the early 2010s.
They also up the vig to a ridiculous amount. It used to be $200+$30 and now $230+$50. That should be report to their gaming commission.

I think I saw last month get close to 175 players with $17K up top. I heard the Fox took it down.

Been playing at Mohegan (not much anymore) for 13 years and still can’t believe the tournament players. Some of them have been coming in for as long as me and still have no idea how to play. The Saturday tournament has to be one of the softest ones in the country. I’ve played live poker twice in the last 6 months and both times have been in that event and ended up top 3 chop. There’s maybe 4 or 5 people that have any idea what they’re doing.

This Monday we're going to try something unique. We are starting a 10.. 20 stud game at around 11:00 a.m.. then we are going to start an 8:16 O. E
Game around 1:30 p.m.. even though it's close to the holidays and a lot of people will be busy we're hoping to get a good turnout.

Room was totally packed today for the holiday tournament. Came in to play cash around 12:30pm and was told they didn’t think a seat would be available for me all afternoon. Not accepting call-ins either.

Turnout for this week's Holiday Hangover Tournament was wild. Looks like they had around 1,500 entries for a prizepool of around $350,000.

Just goes to show the high demand for tournaments in the area

a tournament series in New England would absolutely crush. i'm happy they got these numbers and i hope some tournament tour like an NAPT comes back to Mohegan. I was out in Vegas for the relaunch of the NAPT in November. They brought dealers to Vegas from all over so maybe they could do so here cause I know dealers are gonna be an issue. Mohegan could pull it off with the help of a good tour. maybe new england poker will start to suck less in 2024?

Awesome turnout. Rake is high, but the field must be uber soft. Really hope mohegan starts doing an annual series with maybe 5-8 events in the $200-$1,500 buy in ranges. I remember many years ago they did something in the convention center. Don’t remember what it was, though

They shut people out of the fields because of their bat **** idea of escorting re-entries to the cage and allowing them to come back in immediately instead of going back behind people waiting. 40+ people on Thursday couldn't get in for even one bullet (people that showed up even at 11-12 for an 11) because of this. Everyone should get at least a bullet and rake would have been exactly the same.

I brought it up to Rebecca and Brendan but of course they insist this is "how it is everywhere" and "do you want to do my job for me too?" which of course it's not at all. It's a shame they are so stubborn there and not willing to listen to one of the only regs at MS that actually plays mid-high tourneys across the country and just want them to improve so they can smoothly run bigger and more stuff in the future.

Also heard they can't get temps because they would have to pay for their CT dealing license. Don't hold your breath if they got the rumored WSOP circuit or anything else.

Yeah, there's historically been a high level of arrogance and favoritism in that room, a significant reason why FW became the better tournament destination for both series and daily events.

While nobody can fault them for being so attractive that many more players than expected showed up to play, the idea that they failed to take care of a significant number of players is troubling.

As far as either casino running series events, don't hold your breath. Management seems disinterested for a variety of reasons. It's a shame, but it is what it is.

The floor/staff (NOT dealers) here are exceptionally rude. They show no care for keeping players coming there, particularly the type of players who we would like to play with.

Casinos hate poker. It brings so little to their bottom line. They would prefer the entire room be emptied and filled with slots.

I was there on Thursday night with a group (not to play poker) and it was insane what I saw in the pit. Half the table games were not operating, and the few blackjack tables going were at a $50 min bet at 5:30pm. It was funny seeing the empty tables at those stakes, when my group of 9 were just itching to gamble on the floor, but couldn't justify that price. They could have had our money, but they didn't seem to want it. We even asked one of the lonely dealers if they could lower the price for us to sit down, and he said no. The entire thing is being driven to slots. I guess I'm just a poor peasant on a rant and not saying anything that anyone on here doesn't know already. P.S. I hate slots with a passion.

Almost 1500 entries with $70k up top. They chopped it 6 ways. Mohegan actually sent the results into Hendon Mob:

Yeah that was cool, was there for the final table and the results also on their Bravo.

Wondering more about the single day tourney they ran on new years day to try to gauge what the MLK day tourney might look like.

Total BS WPT director Matt Savage says the next alternate gets the seat not the player that busts. He goes to the back of the line. Tell them they are arrogant stubborn idiots.

I can't believe the people that run casinos are so dumb that they hate poker. Poker brings in much more money than casinos like to admit. They rake around $150/hr at the tables and pay the dealers less than minimum wage. The poker room also brings in the players wifes to play the slots and everyone patronizes the restaurants. Not to mention the fact that probably about 20% of the poker players are betting on sports while they are there. And the poker players who would normally never go to a casino but do because of poker will inevitably leak out into the pits to chase poker loses or play slots while waiting for a seat or whatever. Poker players give casinos an additional consistent revenue stream that most businesses would love to have.

Mohegan has been like that since Covid. Last I knew it was still only 4 per table. It’s not the pay they worry about, they don’t want to insure anyone. They have very few full time dealers and only schedule part timers on weekends. They must figure it’s cheaper to keep tables closed than it is to have more full timers on staff. And if people are gonna go there during the week, they are gonna play whether the tables are $15 or 50 min.

Edit - my bad I quoted the wrong post.
