Not only does Mohegan Sun Rake preflop (Foxwoods does not) They take the high hand $1 at 20, when Foxwoods is taking it at 100. That's pretty much every hand! Mohegan Sun's rake is much higher.

Sick sick sick

Thinking about lowering the buyin? Horrible decision, if anything raise it to 1k!

Mohegan sun 2/5 is much more profitable than Foxwoods 2/5 and if I were a 1/2 player shot taking 2/5 I would definiantly do it at Mohegan Sun

It was busy last Saturday, but not packed. They did a good job of opening new games. I was 17th on the 1-2 list at/around 3:00pm; I was in a game within 5 minutes. I left at 8pm, and they still had a couple of dead spreads and minimal lists.

I was there last Friday and Saturday as well. In fact, I got there around 4:30 to play 1/1 on Saturday and there was an open seat. Things didn't seem any different than any other night, certainly not too busy to get a seat in a reasonable amount of time.

Reducing the max buy-in is bad for the game. Florida used to have $100 max 1/1 and it was a shovefest. Preflop raise to $5 and then all-in, all-in & all-in. Players worked around it by going all-in 10 times in a row so $200 was the starting stack.

1/2 used to be 100 max at Foxwoods

So why did they change?

Think the max for 1/1 at the Tampa Bay card rooms is $80

Mohegan Sun Poker Room rake is outragouse (in comparison to Foxwoods which is ten minutes away)

Do they think the players will not realize? Of course they do.

Foxwoods has a no flop, no rake policy. Meaning if the hand doesn't go to the flop, they do not take rake. Mohegan Rakes preflop! Yuck.

They wonder why fw has more players. Part of the reason is because it is much more EXPENSIVE to play at Mohegan. Mohegan is also taking the high hand rake at 20.. When FW is taking it at 100.

That's an easy 5,000 rake difference at the end of the year for a regular.

Mohegan needs a no flop no drop policy just like Foxwoods if they want more players to come

This sounds like highway Robbery

I'll play at Foxwoods until the excessive rake is changed

Makes me sick just thinking about it... Don't underestimate the expense of the rake

sick sick sick

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize there was a different rake. I'll see you at Foxwoods.

Does anyone know when the Mohegan will next schedule a high hand promotion?

Every Friday and Saturday in November and December from 3pm-3am they're doing $500 every half hour for high hand.

Connecticut lottery tickets no longer sold at Mohegan Sun. Not sure why. That's too bad. If I had a good session at the tables I'd always buy a ticket to see if my luck translated to the lottery. It never did, but I would have liked to try it a few more times.

True, not only does Mohegan rake preflop (puke). Mohegan takes the high hand $1 at 20 while FW is taking it at 100 for 2-5... sick sick sick, that's like every hand at Mohegan.

The 5-T never runs at Mohegan but when it does they charge $6 instead of $7 a half hour like FW, but don't worry it never runs. Bring back big Vinnie

And now they are talking about lowering the buy in to 500! and upsetting most of the regs.. sick sick sick. Who is in charge at mo sun? did somebody in charge recently quit? Very sloppy..

and what's this high hand bs... they keep lowering the payout, where are my $1's going?

They haven't had them since the poker room opened, I loved them. Ever see a 2k pot on a 1/2 game before?

Dude, are you out of your mind? All you do is slam Mohegan and promote Foxwoods which is fine and of course your prerogative so I assume you play at Foxwoods where "your $1's would be", is that not correct? Mohegan has much more aggressive HH of the two rooms and it isn't even close btw.

LOL.... I have to chime in..... Mohegan does have a great HH Promo ...until they take 30%of it out and give it back to the room for future promos ...LOL so if they collect $1000 dollars for the high hand period $300 is going to the room and the winner is getting $700 before taxes ....THATS ANOTHER WAY TO ROB THE PLAYER OF HIS MONEY.......YEA GREAT PROMO !!!!

Mohegan takes 20% not 30%, and it is supposed to go all back in future promos and not keep 5% like Foxwoods does. Also if you're playing 1/2 the rake may be higher at Foxwoods. They take $1 on flop no matter how big the pot is.... There are a lot of three or four handed pots that end with a flop bet, probably more then hands that end preflop, game selection dependant. Mohegan doesn't take the first dollar till $10.
