As mentioned, the restaurants at MS clearly trump those at Foxwoods. However, I will give the buffet at the 'Woods a clear advantage.

Maybe, but I've had some great meals at Alta Strada and David Burke's at FW....

The top shelf restaurants are a push IMO, but MS has a clear edge in places to go for a quick moderately priced meal.

I don't disagree, but best I've found at FW is a hamburger at the bar at Cedars ($9).

Ok.... I was interested in the fall showdown event #1 the $400 buy-in, $200K guarantee... I noticed that it is limited to the first 1400?? Is that evn likely to get get that many? I do not want to buy in before the event and you have to do it in person....... Any idea how many people this may attract.... The event is scheduled for Nov `14th.... is there any way to keep track?

Thanks

PJM,

The number of 1400 is split up in Day 1a and Day 1B. Limited to 700 runners per day. There is a hotline number for you to call.... 1-877-224-0003 for more info or you can visit the website www.mohegansun.com/poker
I think registration starts in the Poker Room Cashier Cage on Monday Oct. 12.

Having been a regular and play at both rooms, 80% in tournaments I will give you my feelings.

1. The staff is much nicer and cares at MS. Yes, maybe it’s the dealer tips but the floor cares too. If your auto shuffler goes down at FW they say, “we called maintenance an hour ago”. At MS the floor gets down on their hands and knees and fixes/swaps it. The floor staff is rarely rude at MS where at FW you should expect it to have them simply ignore you which I usually part company with them by saying Ill go to MS and play.

2. If you drink booze MS will serve a much better selection. MS will bring you an energy drink, FW tells you to buy one at the café. MS will bring San Pellegrino and as a coffee snob, MS has dame good coffee and FW’s sucks.

3. The downtime is much much better at MS. Real nice restaurants, a little mall with real stores. Much better food. Hell, even a kidsquest, a place to drop your kids off for a few hours, much better than leaving them in the car like I need to do at FW (just kidding, I have never taken my kids to either). A Starbucks, real Krispy Kreme etc.

4. The cage is at the entrance is a short wait. FW is almost always a long wait.

5. At FW the overflow tourneys and SNG’s are upstairs where without exaggeration is like this:
Very Close and loud slot machines, especially when the slot tourney is running 100 feet away. Near by Asian Gaming pit has screaming and yelling normally only heard in nightmares with lots of Monkey Monkey. They allow smoking a few feet away so if you don’t like smoke, good luck.
In the day time from 10am-3pm bring sunglasses because you really will need them with the blinding sun from skylights. Loud music and continual announcements about lost people and missed buses. MS has no overflow and the large events go in the Ballroom where at FW you might be in the Ballroom, main room or at a big tournament upstairs (see above).

6. At FW it is common to have an Asian dealer you can’t understand; I have never had this problem at MS.

The only things I could say positive about FW is the following. Because the room is bigger and they seem to have bigger games they are busier at slow times. Peak times make no difference.

7. The room is much nicer and newer at MS--Think new Starbucks vs old Dunkin Donuts.

I rarely spend the night but I get the impression that because FW has many more rooms it is easier to get a room and at a better rate at FW than MS. This is often because these rooms are in a remote or older section keep in mind where the fewer rooms at MS are very new and close by. It would be nice for both to do what Vegas does and have a special discounted rate after x amount of time.

The FW SNG’s go off regularly where MS has had a hard time especially during non peak days and hours.

Bottom line. Spend a day at both and an hour out of the room in non-gaming sections and you will be sold on MS.

Good list. I actually agree with a lot of these, especially the part about the better coffee at MS.

BTW: I understand you're talking about comfort, but many people would say that these are all pretty irrelevant reasons for choosing one poker room over another.

Why they put Keno and sports betting in the poker room? Horrid. I really enjoyed that poker room when I was there last month and wanted to go back but this is not good. How big is it?

As about MS poker room. I really prefer it to FW.
But it was good start , but time is coming by and I cannot see any
improvement or future development at MS poker room.
Let's do a quick review:
- SNG was not good , now it's gone.
- 5/10NLH - no game during the week days and I guess one table on a weekend.
- I don't like how they designed fall series , so I cut my participation to one event only and booked 2 more events at FW WPF's to addition to ME. MS hall for tournaments is much , much better then FW , but room is not a game.

So I lowered my expectations about MS poker future. Too bad for MS.
They are not seriously targeting to get poker business of FW.
FW is so vulnerable right now , so it's almost a crime not to get advantage of this situation.

I will be more that happy if somebody can share a different opinion...

It keno and horse racing no sports.... The horse racing lasts till 6 they put it in there cuz the the regs were getting tired of running to the race book

Every poker room in the country has horse racing in it Foxwoods has racing machines in the room

Before the poker craze took all the old school players are racing fans

Having racing bettors in the room is a plus they throw money in while there reading the form

From what I gather in your post, you are a 5-10+ level player...which I agree, MS has not targeted. MS has clearly targeted the lower-level gamers, especaily with the news of the 1-2 comps going to $2.00. While the SNG's were definitely weak, the 10k and 15k guarantees play like SNG's, just with a bit larget field.

So all in all, I would say that your type of play had not been properly addressed, but I don't think you are who they are looking at stealing from thw Woods.

i think you might be picturing something much different than what it actually is?

if your not paying attention you prob wouldnt even notice it...foxwoods has a machine off in a corner as well -

its not like they converted half the room into a sports book or anything- it just added convenience - you go place a bet on the slip while not having to leave the poker game-

Soon enough your gonna see the 5-10 game shift over to the sun... The sun is offering $4 an hour to 5-10 when the foxwoods players lose their blackcards they'll move over here

It's hard for a new room to get establised games rite away but the 2-5 crowd they got I no will never go back to Foxwoods..

If MS got any kind of mid-limit games going i'd go there more often, but 2.50-5 and 3-6 doesn't do it for me. Also, I get the feeling there are more degens at FW.
