this phone nazi **** is ******ed. apparently recently someone was caught colluding via text telling others at the table their hole cards. now you cant even back away from the table, phones have to be in the pocket, ipods cant be out.

dont they realize there are much easier ways to collude then tell others their hole cards via text.

in other related news i had a terrible floor ruling where there were 2 1/1 games running. i wanted to go play the other game and a player from that game wanted to come to my game. floor said we cant do it, over and over and over he says the same thing because of open seats at the 2 tables. i keep saying were not making one game shorter, there will be no extra seats its an even swap. he still says no. half an hour later im bring it back up to him and we discuss it for another 5 minutes and he keeps insisting there will be an extra seat at our table. i finally have to get a bit loud with him and say how can there be an extra seat here if the guy im trading places with is going to be in my seat, that one open seat will still be open. he looks dumbfounded, then has an ah ha moment, sheepishly nods in agreement with me and says im right.

just so annoying when i know im right and there should be no problem at all, yet incompetency and bouncer mentality takes over. sighaments. i wonder if that at all led to me dropping 2.5BI that day

The phone issue has nothing to due with texting and collusion, although I'm quite sure that was happening frequently. The reason everyone's getting tortured now is because one of the 2-5 superstars on the stage thought it was a good idea to stick their phone in the cup holder facing the cards/table and make a video recording of a few hands and post them on you tube. Pure genius!

Was there Saturday night for the 1st time in forever. Found the rules about smartphone usage annoying, and am now even more annoyed that it was only because a guy made a video. If the move was made to stop cheating and help the integrity of the game: fine. If you want to stop people making videos then make a rule keeping phones off/below the table. And since Foxwoods isn't enforcing this I'd rather go there where I can text my friends, check sports scores on my phone, change what song i'm listening to without having to leave the table, etc

I think the icing on the cake was when I put the hood up on my sweatshirt and the pit boss told me to put it back down. I assumed this was an extension of their no phone / no cheating rule but now am even more confused. Meanwhile I was wearing a hat, which was ok, but hood is not ok wtf? At a minimum they could have made an effort to explain these rules, which are clearly new, to players instead of just telling people with no explanation.

What's peoples problems with the phone rule....phones slow the game down and open doors to acts of collusion...I'm all for no phones at the table I mean the words with friends thing is like a run away train out of control!!!! Why not just have a scrabble board on the table??? No phones is a great call in my opinion

It works fine in every other poker room on the east coast. If someone is abusing the privilege and slowing the game down, the dealer says something and the player puts their phone away, problem solved. My complaint is that the rule at Mohegan is excessive. If you're not in a hand and you want to send a text message, check a basketball score, or skip a song on your iPod, you're not hurting anyone.

Also I don't see how wearing the hood on my hooded sweatshirt slows the game down.

The no-hoodie rule is a casino-wide rule implemented because the security people want it. It's not a rule made by the poker staff and is not related to the game at all. I think it is excessive, but it's not the poker rooms fault.

I was told the no hoods rule was because it messes up security's facial recognition software. I guess there were guys playing in the pits robbing the place blind but they couldn't identify them. Still it seems rather draconian.

Well I appreciate the explanation. Part of my complaint was the poor communication by the staff, who easily could have told me especially since the rules are new and they know the players need/want to be educated. Instead as it went, I have my phone on the table, pit comes over "No phones on the table". I take my phone off the table. Later I am checking the internet underneath the table, pit comes over "No phones at the table". At this point I say ok no problem, but can you just let me know what the rules are. His clarificiation? "No phones at the table" and walks away. Gee thanks. Same for the hoodie later, no effort to explain what's going on.

I played at at a BJ table a few weeks ago where the air felt about 10 degrees. I put my hood up and no one said a word. The dealer didn't say a word, the floor didn't, the pit boss didnt and neither did the security guard who did the fill.

can I still wear a hood at the freezing table with the ac blowing on my head? or have they fixed that..haven't been there for a while
