I guess players aren't the only angle shooters.
Seems to be some misinformation about money withheld for Mohegan Tournaments. Unlike Foxwoods, No money from the prizepool is withheld for the regular daily MTT's. Money is only withheld (3%) for the larger Tourny's such as the NAPT. I can only assume that your tournament cash was for one of the Seasonal Showdowns or the NAPT. For the daily tourny's, all you have to do is look at the tourny clock which shows what the prize pool and payouts are. You will see that nothing is taken out.

I may not be as reggy as most of the people here, but everything I said had an IMO claim before I said it, so

So I posted this before, but more gossip, drama, and TR plz!!!

Also, anyone going today? I'm bored and I might go later.
I would love to but, after getting to bed after 5am, I am only working on 5 hours of sleep. I am not a happy camper today.

I am not sure if that is her because this girl never called. She raised any hand that she played, never limped in, had the highest 3bet percentage of anyone that I have ever played against.
After she lost that pot, did she bitch and moan endlessly about how she beats $10/$25 for 10 BIs everyday but cannot win $100 playing $1/$2?
I keep toying with the idea of playing at Foxwoods more often.....my win rate is higher there....but I just enjoy MOhegan more. Before last night, that is.

As far as IWSJ is concerned.....he is by far the nicest guy at MOhegan and has been nothing but supportive and gracious to everyone here. CHILL.

One person's bad beat story might be another person's TR. I love TR, and hearing how sessions went - good or bad. If that part wasn't in here, and it was all "which LHE games run?" over and over, I'd check in once a month instead of hourly.

And it's the stories (bad beat or otherwise) that tie an internet forum poster to a human being that we can meet up with and have a common dialog about over a beer - something a bit more interesting than "hey, I saw a HOE game running from 1:43am to 5:18am! You!?"

That means a lot to me, I always try to be a nice guy, no matter how I am running on the day. You are equally friendly, and we have to share a session sometime in the near future (that 3-hand 1/2 exhibition before I was called up to 2/5 doesn't count )

And I actually got into the habit of posting my results because people PMed me that they were interesting and asked if I would do it in the future...and it has become habitual at this point. If I do well, then I post it. If I make grievous play errors (trust me, I have made more than a few), I allow myself to be subject to criticism and try to get better from it. And if I get coolered, then I post that, as well. I have absolutely no problem being honest about my progress, and I know that I need to work constantly in order to take my game to the next level. Posting TRs allows me to receive feedback and encourages other discussions, from "when to fold aces" to "how much to buy in for".

And if people can derive entertainment value from it, then I will gladly allow them to do so.

Friday NLH $15K Guaranteed - 2:00 pm / $175+ $25
Wednesday NLH $10K Guaranteed 07:30 PM / $100 + $20.
Isn't $20 represents a 20% vig at Wednesday's tourney?

I'll be there after work. Probably 11:30'ish, maybe 12. Would like to meet the infamous xbeatax.

yes the +$20 would represent the house fee, which is not put into the prize pool.

20% vig is a bit steep but pretty standard for live play.

Well said. Maybe all of us can focus on more TR's and maybe a bit less "poor me", but it is all part of the beast.

Yes, but the $20 is for the casino. They don't withhold anything for staff/dealers (3%), which is what Common Sensei was referring to.

If there were 100 players in the Wednesday tourney, the prize pool will be $10,000. The equivalent at Foxwoods would be $9,700, because they withhold 3% for staff.

And I know I said that I was through until Friday...but I have the urge to go back tonight...unfinished business...that and I have PTO tomorrow, so I can be a degen.

I would say I am leaning 30/70, with the 30 likely to improve after a small nap.

12 as in midnight or 12 as in noon? I'm skipping today and will go tomorrow afternoon instead.

Also, does anyone else think the $20 that is withheld from the $60 midnight tourney is absurd? I've played this tourney twice and will probably never play it again.

How is the afternoon action on a "regular" day? I tend to only go during mornings and nights, never really the afternoon shift except the occasional Saturday.

I will likely be there a few hours tonight and a few hours before the concert tomorrow. Call me a sucker for classic progressive rock.

Haha, probably not. I go all the time and have only met a couple of people. Maybe it will be different for you.

What prices do you get for hotel rooms? For Fridays and Saturdays I'm typically seeing $400-600. I know at Foxwoods prices vary greatly depending on your action, so I didn't know if MS did something similar, even if "action" just = poker.

I sadly never looked into it, and it is sad that Sagamore hotel comps appear to be stopping in August. As you said, it appears to be an industry move.

On a weekday it ends up being about $270 with taxes and fees. I'm not sure how they decide to comp rooms (specific stakes played, etc), but my friend was playing the 7.50$/$15 HORSE game and they comp'd the room down to about $80.

$80 on a weekday? Yuck, still too high IMO. I get way cheaper at FW (even <80 on weekends), which is what's keeping me there vs here. I want to make the switch but can't pass on these rooms.

Yeah, it isn't exactly an incentive not to just drive to the casino for me, either.
