I have zero faith in ever keeping my roll in a hotel safe - seems like you're easy prey for having it stolen while the casino shrugs unless you have it in a box there

It must be pretty nice to be so loaded that your occupation is listed as semi-professional poker and blackjack player. And how can one be considered a semi-pro poker player and not even have a Hendon Mob page? Even if he was predominantly cash who doesn't at least dabble in tourneys like the WSOP and Circuit events or other series? So either he's purely cash or the semi-pro label is a stretch. Methinks the latter. Look - if he got ripped off I feel bad for him; but as the previous poster said, it wasn't the smartest thing to do given the establishment and sum of money.

I see that MGM Springfiled poker room is raising the bad beat drop to $2. They want the BBJ to grow faster. Anyone in the know want to let us know what the max rake is now with this increase ?

According to the story, he had it in his room safe. The hotel checked him out early for a reason they haven't disclosed and took all of his stuff out of the room, including the $30k in the safe. But when they gave it back to him, $20k of it was missing.

Seems like an open-and-shut case that they owe him $20k, and some employee is about to get fired and sued for $20k.

Open and shut seems a bit of a reach. How do you prove you left 30k and not 10k.

Ya. I think it's an open and shut in favor of the casino. Unless the employee took the money and deposited into a bank account. But that be incredibly dumb.

We're just supposed to take the word if a gambler?

Well I have not played any tournaments other than some local free rolls ever. I even sometimes travel to circuits or other series to play in cash games. I just have no desire to play tournaments.

What is interesting is I once left $20+k in a hotel safe in Vegas and DID check out. A hour later i realized and called. They had rebooked the room and since middle of the night would not wake the new person. Had to wait for morning, have hotel track him down for permission for security to enter room and get stuff from safe.

Wow you aren't kidding... That's roughly $200-$250 and hour leaving the table !!!

I know the max buy in is $500 there but if you have a table with people buying in for the $100-$200 range (which is entirely possible) and the same players staying at the table for an extended amount of time (also possible especially right when the room opens) then the money will evaporate quickly from that table and everybody will be busto or close to it

If $200-$250 is leaving the table each hour at $6+$2, then $175-$218 must have been leaving the table at $5+$2. Regardless, it isn’t ideal.

However, the NH rooms are $5+$2 and only 8 handed. The effective take paid per player per hour is actually slightly higher in NH because MGM is 10 handed.

$225 off table per hour, divided by 10 players is $22.50/hr/player.

$197 off table per hour, divided by 8 players is $24.62/hr/player.

Neither option is great, but I think MGM
still has the edge vs the NH rooms, especially when you include comp points (2/hr vs .50/hr) and the free drink service.

My feeling with poker is it's evolving into jackpot hunting. I don't like it. Bring back 00s poker.

Where are you getting $200-$250? Even if a table spreads 25 hands per hour and each hand goes to max rake, that's only $200.

I think you're confusing hands per down/dealer (30 minutes) with hands per hour (60 minutes). Any dealer who deals 25 hands per hour max wouldn't last long. Most dealers get in 20-35 hands per down, depending on the behavior of the players, type of game, and dealer's skill. And I would say 50% max raked per hour is a fair estimate.

Boost in MGM Springfield's November revenues is attributed to the return of live poker.

If you read that poker news article it shows a little over $4 on avg is taken out at 6+2 rake. Add tipping and your probably up to $5.50 a hand. I've played a lot at MGM. They deal about 35 hands an hour. $192.50 an hour off the table seems close to right

I'd have to agree... definitely makes it a tough game especially when you figure $1 for a dealer tip means most hands $9 is evaporating from the table.

It's a deal breaker to me to go and play there. Especially since I never hit any jackpots.

Totally agree absolute deal breaker... surprised more people don't feel the same way especially since 99% of players never hit a jackpot

Coming up in about a week to check out this room. From what I can tell, poker room is open from 11am - 3am. What's the protocol for getting on a list? Can I call, and how early or do I need to be physically present and sign up with the brush? Also, I'm staying at an Airbnb and will be using Uber to get to the MGM. Is there a designated pickup/dropoff? Any other tips appreciated.

But then you see how most people play there and said rake is easily forgotten
