We cant even get someone to get the bathroom up to...basic human decency standards with working hot water. Instead people make fun of us for even asking. So what do you think "enhanced cleaning protocols" would even be for MGM NH?

I think more likely we're going to get to the point where Illinois did - closed all casinos for two weeks - or Wynn, which is fully closing the poker/sportsbook come Monday. More announcements along these lines are coming.

Well that escalated quickly. Internal MGM memo went out tonight detailing shutdown procedures and food and beverage closures company wide come Monday.

I would expect most casinos in the country to shut down sometime next week. They are about as grimy as it gets when it comes to germs.

Ohio is limiting their casino capacity to 100 people. I’d imagine most states will be shutting down or doing something similar.

Looks like encore and other Massachusetts casino will be closing Sunday at 6 pm. MGMNH probably isn't too far behind.

Hopefully the place will get a deep cleanse when it closes. Should give them a good opportunity to fix a lot of issues.

If they're not getting customers, they wont be paying employees to come in and do stuff.

I highly doubt that a 1.5 billion dollar property that brings in 60 mil a month in revenue is going to be left dormant during a closure. It’s in their best interests to make improvements when they may never close the doors again.

Please switch the men's and women's poker room bathrooms during your inevitable coronaclosure!

It's actually 5:59 am. The casino day, or whatever it is they call it, begins at 6:00 am and they are closing at the end of the current casino day.

I will boycott them for at least two weeks if they do that.

Last...June or so we were told this was definitely under consideration. Then it was being studied to be under consideration. Then, well, we're actually talking about studying it. Then they dropped it, we never heard another word, never heard why it would or would not have worked - just heard nothing as to why.

Per MD Live thread, according to a joint press release, all MD casinos plan on remaining open at 50% capacity on the casino floor.

Wtf? Is this for real? They should be ashamed of themselves for putting corporate profits ahead of public health concerns.

This is not "best practices" for the industry. Best practices is closing. See NBA, NCAA, etc. None of these reputable franchises decided to lower game attendance to 50%. Why? Because it would be completely ineffective!

And people complain about socialism. Behold: capitalism at its finest. Grandma can die, as long as we make money.

If they do remain open and Governor Hogan doesn't shut it all down (which he should), I propose that 100% of casino profits during this period go towards coronavirus relief since casinos - which are choosing to remain open - will be one of the largest incubators for the virus.

Or maybe this is what to expect from a CESSPOOL OF SOCIETY.

Which do you think will be worse for the economy in the long run? Temporary closure of the casinos, or an explosion of coronavirus cases that fell the entire healthcare system?

This feels like the mortgage crisis all over again: lax regulations, greed, amoral business ethics, followed by societal collapse.

Sadly, in both this case and in the case of the mortgage crisis, big businesses only did what was good for their immediate bottom line and couldn't care less about society as a whole. What a sorry state of things.

I would suspect except on weekends they run around 50% capacity or less most of the time. Good news for us people that sincerely believe this is overblown hoohaw.

Unless you're an ostrich with your head in the sand (likely, in your case), you'd know that other countries are experiencing public crises because of the rapid spread of the virus which has overwhelmed healthcare systems and forced hospitals to choose which patients to place on life-saving respirators and beds and which not to. If you think that's not going to happen here if we don't take drastic measures - say, closing a casino for (gasp!) a month or two - you're in ****ing denial.

This just means that they haven't changed a thing on weekdays and this new plan will only affect volume on weekends when crowds are huge anyway. They truly deserve a round of applause for exacerbating a national emergency for their personal, selfish gain.

The only solution I can think of given that the casinos are being completely irresponsible is to boycott them. I haven't been in almost a week and counting. I hope others do the same.

They have survived the great pandemic of 2020. Should be interesting how this pandemic will eventually stack up to the last one in 2009.

Spoiler: this one is way worse. Just wait until it spreads from blue states and urban, primarily democrat-leaning locales to all those red states that voted for Trump. Then he'll bring in the troops to contain this thing.

It already is. I just sent Governor Hogan's office an email urging him to shut down MD casinos ASAP. I encourage others to go to his website and do the same. It's quite easy to send an email to his office. I chose the "gaming" tab when selecting a topic.
