Racetrack circle? I call it the confusion line.

Not criticizing, just here to amuse myself.

MDL handles chronic walkers terribly, as does every other room I've ever played in that doesn't have a dinner list. So hopefully Johnny will implement a dinner list and a relatively short and strict pickup time.

Anyone who would argue against the above setup is probably a chronic walker.
This has been part of my point from the beginning about MDL. They - floor, mgmt, dealers, everyone - did a terrible job from the beginning of enforcing the rules. So it is generally chaos there now at busy times. Some dealers will enforce the rules, some wont. Maybe they are friendly with some of the regs - so those players will get away with a lot. Its mindnumbing. Whatever the rules are - I probably dont care too much - but ffs be as consistent as possible.

FWIW I've never seen a casino worse at filling empty seats than MDL. Played a couple months back on a Saturday with the 1/3 and 2/5 lists both in the 80s - but our table played 7 handed for almost 20 minutes. I like playing short so it was fine but eventually some of the newer players said hey, we dont want to play *this* short.

I dont know whatever their rules are - see above on applying rules consistently - but whatever they are doing is not working at busy times.

Johnny,

Thanks for being active in the thread.

1) What's your best guess at # of poker tables right now?
2) What's your best guess at when the poker room will open?

Random suggestions: Special top section for higher limit games, $1k 2/5 cap time raked. You can make the 1/2 normal rake. Don't worry, the regs will explain to the recs how time is better for them if we hear them complaining. UTG Straddle only please. BTN straddle forces the blinds to play more correctly and hurts the game IMO. If you are dying to have an "action" element, let UTG straddle to any unlimited amount.

I like all your suggestions. It seems from Johnnys posts that we're gonna see missipippi straddles here, I'd prefer utg only but I can live with it.

I like the idea of everything being in the "top section" as Havax suggests. Just call the room "The Special Top Section."

Johnny, any chance you can steal the Big Stax tournament series from Parx? Or have some similar deep stacked tourney series? They run it four or five times per year with buy-ins of $300, $500 and a main event of $1200 or $1600 and they're great tournaments.

Hypothetically, if we had a private top section, what would be a fitting name for it? Using local/regional influences...

We won't steal an event from a competitor. At some point, we will find a place in the local tournament schedule and host a large event. To give you a sense of scale...in MS, we had a very limited local population, and had a 3 flight $500K guarantee with on entry per flight. We got 2,300 players....

I have a feeling we can crack 4,000-4,500 here...

I loved the suggestion earlier about a regional championship.

But that kind of leads into another question. The Shoe gets WSOP. Live has WPT coming in.

Will MGM have any major tournament series coming through?

The White House, or is that too cheesy?
The Situation Room
House of Cards
The Pentagon
War Room

Edit: Another name could reference Potomac, either the river or the town (Potomac, MD is the most affluent town in America circa 2013).

I really like Capitol Hill as a name. Regarding Mississippi strattles, The Bike has a button they throw at utg when someone strattles, which is a great idea for retaining play in turn.
