Long-term, no, but MDL does offer 2500+40s (based on table availability) (90% I have the rake correct) and the floors will let them run H/U...15min levels so more like a turbo...but agreed that these would only go when surplus dealers/tables are available.
MDL averages ~1300 win per table per day whereas the shoe averages around 1k (August was their outlier so someone remind me why that would happen). I got these figures from unlv's gaming center http://gaming.unlv.edu/reports/md_monthly.pdf

Hey I'm 20 pounds overweight and eat cookies like they're going out of style, I'm glad we haven't met before LOL

For those that play with him, he is a very nice guy.

Someone else in this thread pointed out that Vegas allows outside beverages (or at least doesn't enforce any restriction), as does Atlantic City. No need to hide the beverage, though I understand that's always an option.

I'm hoping for somewhere in the middle. I'm afraid if its 23ish, then most of the tables will get taken by Hold-em 1-3 and 2-5 and there will not be many tables to provide a variety of spreads. Also, while the MGM casino will likely take a lot of business overall from Live, it just seems like there will be new business enough at poker to justify a little bigger room. The out of town customers, the people (like me) that can't take the traffic to Live from Virginia that often, the people to the south who will be an hour closer, and the people looking for a higher end experience. Live is well run, but the two casinos will just offer a different product.

I really am curious to see how each room does traffic wise once MGM opens and the original hype dies down a little. I live in NoVA so hopefully never have to go back to Live once MGM opens

You know why I'm excited about MGM? It's being built as a nice casino, not a intercoursing refurbished parking garage, and I just might be able to go up or come down from where I parked without waiting 10 mins for an elevator

Took me a minute, but I like the censored expletive

For the record, that building/garage did not exist until they built the casino. I agree the garage sucks big time on weekends (as does the whole area), but it and the building was purpose-built for the casino.

refurbished? huh?
both horseshoe and Live were built from scratch.

as for elevator, if you're not out of shape, walk it.
if you are, then even MORE reason to walk it, fattie

It's shocking, but yes, somebody got paid for that garage design.
03-14-2016 , 05:32 PM
Hmm, apparently I'm mistaken with the Arundel Mills history, I thought the garage had always been there, just not used as much before the casino.

Either way, it's still terrible!

Also re: walking, yes I do take the stairs pretty often from/to level 5, but it's def not preferred since the concrete steps are basically in the elements, and have zero camera coverage AFAIK.

Just basically hoping MGM feels 'nice' everywhere, not like Live/AM where I dislike being there when not in the poker room.

The MDL discussion always cracks me up. I still dont understand why people even use that terrible garage when they know exactly how bad it is/will be. I keep hearing stories about people who use it - and its awful every time they use it - but they keep using it.

Park out near the Longhorn, in between there and the Burlington. I guarantee its the same if not less of a walk from most of the garage and more importantly you are immediately out of there on the road. Never have trouble getting in our out.

Welcome, Mr. J.GroomsTD, to Maryland !
My wife and I are looking forward to the new poker room. Mlive has great action , but it is a very uncomfortable place...from the parking garage access/safety to the crowded /" tables too close together" poker room. I don't mind so much but she does, and I'm sure some others feel that way. Of course we hope the rake and bad beat drop are better / competitive , but the comfort thing is big for us.
Also we have been wanting to go to Beau Rivage for some time , and in my research , saw that there are "uncapped" or deeper 1/3-2/5 games there, will this be the case at MGM?? ( I understand it might be too soon to know yet ).
All the best with your new endeavors!!

I know poker players can be a bit picky and hard to please at times. But Maryland players in particular are a special kind of hard to please.

Good luck in your endeavors here Mr Grooms
I suspect a lot of this in your future!

Johnny,

any truth to the rumor that mgm's foundation is cracked and opening is delayed?
(as per a post a few pages ago)
03-16-2016 , 06:08 PM
I have not heard that rumor. All indications I have point to a Q4 2016 opening.

I have dealt with players from many markets, including AC, Vegas, MS, Indiana, New Orelans, Tahoe, and SoCal. In the end, if you respond to their needs and provide a comfortable, secure, and safe environment, you will do well....

It has not been determined yet on the limits, games. As we fill out our management team, we will begin to make those decisions.

Heard two separate PG County execs on the radio this morning say that they are still on track for a Q4 opening. Take that with a huge FWIW.

And - I know nothing about construction - but I've driven past there a few times in the last couple weeks and there is *a lot* of activity on the top deck and on the inside as well. If there was a big problem with foundation cracking/cracks/crack my guess is that they wouldn't have a bunch of people on top of it continuing to work? I dont know anything about the construction process so thats just a guess.

The deal with PG is that the property was supposed to open by this August. However, the deal also allows a limited amount of extensions.

MGM has asked for and been granted an extension to opening sometime in Q4.

just search Google News for MGM National Harbor.

Deal allows for a single 6-month extension.... Which we will be requesting according to several articles....

what zipcode is the mgm in?
(so I can estimate drive time)
