Thanks Mike! I ask because at the airport as you may know, you can get the TSA Precheck membership, which allows a lot of security relaxation. Something like that would be nice for us poker players that pass the checkpoint for food and walks, I ruined one wallet already from ID in and out (I do it at work too in a secured building). Just being able to flash it through the ID window should be good enough for regs.

Mike any love for the vegetarians after 11:00 AM at Morty's?

I asked the hostess at Luk Fu, I said you folks took out the Asian Fast Food place where I used to get Veggie Fried Rice for 4 bucks, now for the same I have to pay $17. She said please convey that to [name removed]. I wonder how I can reach him to convey the same?

Also, I asked her if the table side service can be provided for Luk Fu so their orders can be tripled up, she said they are working on it.

Mike
Read on Twitter that you guys decided to change the payout structure of the 100k that started today. Is it true? If so what are the payout %.
If true I applaud you for doing this and listening to the concerns.
Well done you are the reason that room is outstanding

I was planning on playing in today's 11:15 Flight in the 100k tournament. I live in the College Park area and the roads here are terrible. Will this flight be cancelled?

Flight C is canceled due to the weather. For some reason, the roads around us haven't been plowed. There will not be a makeup flight. We do plan on having the 7:15 flight tonight. Be safe

Thanks

Probably a good decision, Mike. For some reason they are pretty terrible with road prepping and maintenance around here in the winter. Last year it was not uncommon for the local roads to not get plowed for a day or two after a storm. And I've never seen the roads salted before a storm. Hopefully since the area is becoming more and more populated they will eventually figure it all out.

Will be a good day to be there during the HH promo if you can get in safely.

Trip report / experience review on my first trip to MDL:

Arrived at about 10:45 Sunday for the $330 tourney and instantly felt a far more classy and professional vibe than Charles Town (duh). I live in VA and haven't played at the other MD casinos, but comparing MDL to CT in any way is just silly.

General playability: Love the chairs, tables, table cushions. Chips were disappointing -- they were sticky and I was frequently confused by the black 500s. Saw several players make mistakes with their betting, presumably due to chip coloration.

Dealers: Very good for the most part. Had one issue where the dealer never moved the button and I was asked to post my BB two hands in a row. I initially questioned it when I was told to post on the second hand, but the dealer assured me that I was wrong and the button was correct. (The previous hand had taken a while and ended in a chopped pot, so there was actually a relatively long amount of time between the two hands -- which was why I wasn't immediately sure that I had already been in the BB.) Anyway, by the time I reviewed it in my head and realized that I was right, a few people had already folded. We called the floor but since there was already significant action, they reasonably ruled that I was stuck paying the BB again. But I didn't appreciate that the floor then reprimanded me for not speaking up earlier, then walked away when I said that I had questioned it before the second hand was even dealt.

Structure: For this tourney, the structure was excellent. Deep, appropriate blind increases, long levels. Perfect. Haven't played any other tourneys there but I understand that the Sunday $330 has the best structure.

Players: Reasonable mix of sucky to strong. Mostly pleasant and friendly, or at least not tools. (Ok, there were one or two tools.) Still, a way better experience than CT, even if the play was a bit better overall (small sample obv).

Bathrooms: Awesome. Clean, accessible, more than ample facilities. Three thumbs up.

Waitresses: Seemed fine, quick, friendly, and very pleasant to look at. But the sluttiness of their uniforms seemed to fly in the face of an otherwise classy room. Sexiness is great, but these uniforms just looked trashy.

Food: Only had a burger at the dinner break, so can't really comment there. Burger was fine.

Parking: Garage was fine, though I returned to my car to find that someone had sprayed it with silly string. Please tell me this was an anomaly.

Overall: Very high marks and in general a favorable first impression. Can't see myself ever walking into CT again. I can live with the dealer issue -- mistakes happen -- but the floor was pretty rude IMO. Didn't get to play any cash as the tourney (thankfully) ran pretty late.

Black 500s? Is this something new? Last I checked 500s are purple and larger (physical size) than smaller (cash value) denoms.

100s are black. Maybe they'll give me $500.00 for each of my black chips?! Time to move up to $50-$100 FTW!

Grabbed a bite from Morty's yesterday....

They're definitely experiencing growing pains. Seemed very disorganized behind the counter. Waaay to many people working the line too.

I ordered the David's special which was supposed to be Chicken salad with pastrami on a kaiser but they put Roast Brisket on it by mistake.

Three other customers were complaining about orders when I was there as well.

The set up is awkward as well. At first I thought it was like a Subway where you walk up and order then pay at the end but after waiting a few minutes behind what I thought was a customer ordering a sandwich (he was actually complaining about it being made wrong) I was told to go down to the other end and order and pay first.

The Chicken salad itself was pretty decent and the roast brisket was nice despite being incorrect.

2/5 stars but definitely room to grow.

Having customers order, pay, pickup orders and get sodas all in the same small corner of the restaurant is lol. I can't imagine what that's like when it's busy. They had it right the first time by taking orders at the entrance, they should move the registers there. I've been 3 times and ordered the same thing everytime, twice it was served cold, once hot. They asked me if I wanted it hot or cold 0 times.

I took the spousal unit to Morty's yesterday for lunch. The sandwiches were great and the corned beef on my Reuben was the best I've had in quite some time.

It didn't take much to get the line backed way up though. A single woman tied up one of the two cash registers/ordering locations for 5 minutes while she argued about her comps. She was standing at the cash register using Morty's phone to call someone to get it straightened out. I would have liked to see the cashier void out her order and take other orders until this woman got her comps straightened out. This was right around 12 noon. Having only one person taking orders was just plain nuts.

The food was great. I would suggest getting a sandwich to go and then taking it back to the poker room.

isn't Morty's a chain?
surprised they're re-inventing the wheel from scratch instead of learning what works from the other stores.
(ie: ordering logistics, and cash register location)

I was also surprised that at the free pre-opening invites they came out with samples of their sandwiches instead of letting people order like usual.
(and they had MANY of these pre-opening sampling days.)

if they let people order like usual at those events, they could have seen the problems coming and tinker/improve the process at each event.
plus having these people fill out suggestion cards to get their free $40 future comp.

Morty's is definitely the best place to eat at Live right now....let's hope they can keep up the quality of the food in the long run

Morty's solved the water refill issue with in the property.

They have water in their soda vending machine.

I usually buy a bottle in the players lounge before entering and refill as needed.

I tried their Bagel Egg n Cheese and it was good.

Hey Mike.
Love the poker room and the tournaments you run are always great. Any thoughts on planning a series for right after the circuit stops here in Baltimore? With people coming in to play the circuit they would probably hang around another couple weeks to play a Live series which would make for some great prize pools!

It's been planned for some time. Watch for it. March 9-22

Thanks

10-20 HORSE ran yesterday. Would anyone be interested in making this a regular occurrence? I'd play Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday.

I saw this on bravo and almost came back (played 6/12 horse, and 3 handed ORE for about 2 hours). I like pink chips so why not 10/20.

It's Hard enough getting 6/12 started though, but I must give the floor kudos for letting us play what we want. I have a feeling it would be a lot harder to get going at 10/20 tho

I would love to. Problem is I'm concerned that if the 6-12 change s to 10-20 less people will play. If this is not the case, let's do it. I prefer weekends because I can't stay late during week.

I think we should start as 6-12 and then just gauge willingness of people to play 10-20 on a game by game basis. If it still fills at 10-20, awesome. If not, probably should stay at 6 12.

I'd like to hear from other 6 12 horse regulars regarding whether they would like 10-20. I can't think offhand of anyone in our little group who wouldn't WANT to play 10 20.

Also, what the HELL is the problem with having a kill to 10 20 at horse just like with o 8? The day we did that was AWESOME. Why can't we do it anymore?

I'd consider myself a horse semi-reg and the 10/20 half kill for o8 sounds fantastically swingy and therefore extremely enjoyable.

I had never even heard of 10-20 horse being an option here but I don't see why not. It could possibly scare away the more faint of heart, though, and the other younger guys like myself who don't have a lot of live stud experience. Were a very, very limited niche in the mix games market, though.

I was also playing the 6/12 horse/ore 3 handed 2 hour session! I'll be willing to start up 6/12 horse with you anytime you're there if we can get it started 3-4 handed. If we can get an 8/16 or 10/20 game going, even better!

I haven't been a 6/12 horse reg, but I am looking to start joining the game more on the weekends and whenever else it runs!
