So you can't pot if you have a nice hand. What do I know? This how it was played last weekend at the 5/5. It's new to me so l just go along with it. You don't have to participate if you don't want to but everybody is doing it.
This is not how the "rock" is supposed to work...The "Rock" is used in conjuction with the entire table agreeing to straddle...The "rock" is a blind raise and is ONLY put in play by the player to the immediate left of the straddle..Unlike a straddle the rock does not have the option to raise unless ofc the "rock" gets raised..

Right - that's how we have always played it in the limit games, but the big bet guys have been using it as dead money in pot.

ahh.. blind raise as utg+1 when there's already a straddle.

now that will build a bigger pot!
nothing like throwing chum in the water to get deeeeeeeep pocket LAGs even more worked up

Nahhhh, stick with the rubble rock. As you can see by the number of responses you have gotten after my original post...its a clear winner!

I see you guys enjoy making fun of my "rubble rock". I think this rock thing just add more juice to the game and it seemed the guy to my left didn't explain clearly or he doesn't understand how it works either.

Yea the way I have ever seen the rock used or played there needs to be the ability to straddle from any position. So the rock was a forced straddle from the winner of the last pot.

Sounds like a sucker bet in a pit game to me. There's no advantage to it for the player who gets it and actually takes away an option for the player. If poker is a game of skill, this detracts from that.

If my memory serves me correctly, we used the Rock at the Biloxi Grand in the early 2000s. The player that had the Rock only posted it as a straddle UTG. So it wasn't a straddle every hand.

Thanks

Just saw the new June promotions on the website. Very interesting and exciting! Excited about the high-hand Mondays and Wednesdays. does this mean the normal Royal Flush promo is no more?

Look at this undercover Biloxi Grand shoutout

Can't believe they had this idea 15 years ago in Mississippi....I guess people love the action all over the lower 48.......when you see a "rock" in a game you generally need a seatbelt in my opinion

The way they play 2/2 PLO at MDLive, poker is more like a game of chance rather than skill. You raise $ 80 preflop you get 3 to 4 callers, you raise $ 600 preflop you get 1 to 2 callers so there's no such thing is a "sucker bet" when it comes to MDLive. Once you played PLO at MDLive, going back to NL game is like watching paint dry.

I can attest to this. Played 2-2 for 5 hours yesterday, was in a couple of 1-2k pots, several 3-600 pots, great fun and swings. No one folds pre and most don't post flop. Can't wait until next time.

Was able to play here while visiting this week. Loved it. Plenty of tables and good dealers. However, The staff at the desk were always slow and seemed more interested in their conversations with one another than helping the line of people. Also, and this was really annoying, nobody honors the rule of keeping big chips clearly visible. I played 2-5 and had to keep asking players how much they had behind, because greens and blacks were mixed in with blues and so forth. Dealers never said anything unless someone put up a fuss.

The floor was polite and helpful, but inconsistent in rulings.

But, the soft player pool made up for all of that. And the fact that the entire casino is non-smoking, which was simply awesome. I didn't reek afterwards and didn't feel terrible and coughing afterwards.

Mike, can you shed any light on this Summer Series in July?

Mike,

So looking at your Twitter and the MD live tournament calendar for June I am guessing that the main event will be a 3 day $2,200 buy tournament with day 1a on July 25th and day 1b on July 26th. Am I close?

Not to steal the Mike's thunder, in a brief discussion with him it was indicated that there would be more tournaments in the 200 price point this time.

Excited to see the schedule.

Also, nice promo's for June.

High Hand is on Monday and Wednesday. They have different frequency at different times. It is worth 500 for NL and 250 for Limit. They are displaying the info on the TV.

On Tuesdays all the bonuses are tripled.

One of the most pleasant things about switching to 5-10 from 2-5: everybody doesn't ask you what you had.
