Coming from Bethesda area and decided instead of driving (in case of a drink or two) that I'd take metro to shady grove and then take the icc bus ($38.75 for 5 roundtrips - cheaper than gas). With proper timing, I would be adding about 20 minutes to my trip though. Anywho two questions:

1. How far is drop-off from the casino;
2. Does anyone know if it's a safe walk at night on a return trip at 10ish?

One other question and this could be the wrong forum but with so many people coming from similar areas, is there a ride-share somewhere within 2+2?

Thanks.

Quick question as I'm sure I'll get to the room in the near future: the MDLive! website's poker rules states "A maximum of eleven players are allowed per table." Are there 11 seats at each table? Or is this a stupid question?

Possibly it's the max number of players you can have when breaking tables and splitting players among the other open tables.

I asked about car pooling or whatever you want to call it in the CT thread this summer but no one seemed interested, maybe because I prefer longer sessions to make it worth the effort.

I'm still down for pooling or taking turns driving to MDL. I'm located in NOVA, but if you're close to 495 or can meet near it then we can probably work something out.

at 11:30pm, there was still a line to go inside.

about 1/2hr b4 that they announced that the speaker was down and just got it fixed. thus why games were 6handed.

and apparently u can jump tables. noone enforced. saw one guy walk to a table, and ask if the seat was open. dealer said yes. 30sec later he came over w/his chips from another table.

but this was during the speaker outage.
someone else try it tommorow when the speaker is working and report back

Still 52 tables running at 1am!

Saw a couple instances where players bet with $2 blue chips mistaking them for green (eg. Player wanted to bet $80 with 3 greens and a red but put out 1 green 2 blues and a red). It would be nice to keep the $2 chips in the dealer's rack and use it for rake ONLY.

a dealer told me they are trying to make the 2 dollar chips a thing and have them in play all the time at 1/2 and 2/5. he was a bit confused why nobody at the table had any in their stacks though.

i think they are neat and once everyone is used to them, it won't be a big deal.

I understand why they would be so busy on day one, but I really don't understand why they would maintain a line that only 2+2ers and people there would know about and (seemingly intentionally) maintain a Bravo that would appear you would be readily seated. If I am going to make the drive, I want to know that I can either get a seat or what to expect. I'd also prefer to be on the list and have them text me when a seat becomes available. Until I know that the Bravo is actually representative of the wait time, i will be playing elsewhere. Seems deceitful to me.

Got in line about 8pm. Was playing by 10pm. Everything was a bit rough around the edges, but it was Day 1 and all 52 tables were going. I was seated very quickly after making it through the line. I don't think my table actually had a seat, but I was seated at another table no problem. I am really impressed overall how they were able to pull this off. I can't even put in words how happy I am to be able to play poker at Maryland Live! I love it so much. Kudos to Mike and everyone else.

The line built up as a consequence of the volume of people who showed up. Also consider that the room opened at noon and there were lots of people waiting in line already, who had to be seated starting at noon. They were actively signing up players and seating them. There's no way for them to show on bravo that there's a line.

I am almost certain that we will not see a line like this again and Bravo will accurately represent the wait times. Mike also mentioned that they will accept call ins for 2/5+ starting tomorrow so that will also reduce wait times.

If Charles Town and other rooms could have 100 plus people on the list, why couldn't MD Live? I'm not sure I understand why they couldn't display that?

The only thing worse then a 100 person list IMO, is a 100 person list when Bravo appears to be an 8 person list. I just want to know what I am getting myself into.

The people have to wait outside and can't go get on the wait list cause with all 52 tables running + people waiting to be seated + casino employees the room is at capacity and would be a fire code violation.

My table was sporadic with chips depending on dealer. Some made first buy-in go to cashier others were able to buy at table. Chipping some called for chip runners other dealers did it from there rack.

Agreed, overall I definitely liked the atmosphere and the look/feel of live better than ct. They will perfect their flaws in accordance with the feedback from players, I'm sure of it.

There were guys in my table who played extremely stupid, betting $4 into large pots, chasing gunshots going all in, just ridiculous. I'm sure it'll all settle down once the hype is sustained.

P.S - You should add me on Skype so we can get to know each other. You seem really chill.

Hi Mike,

Played 2/2 PLO last night. I was informed by a couple guys at the table the there were five open seats for a few hours, but over 15 people were on the waiting list. Just wanted to let you know this. Other than that, this place was extremely well run for a first day. Great job!

Thanks. I looked at Bravo but after seeing the line yesterday to get on the list I wanted to double check.

probably due to the speaker outage. what time was this?

and 5/5 plo was worse. the same guy was listed on top of Bravo for many hrs. and this was b4, during, and after the speaker outage.
