Yeah, the big stacks I thought would have people playing more loosely but the tables I was at, people were playing tighter, straight up TAGs. Maybe it was the preponderance of cash grinders at both tables.

It was a long day 1 with no dinner break, but not too bad. Thru 16, 11:15-8

instead of $100 4x a year, it's $25 16x a year.

What do you $2000 Platinum streaks get?

I just received paper mail with some bad news regarding this year's streak bonuses.

We are getting Supernova Elited. At least those of us who aren't consistent players at Live.

Instead of being given in a few big chunks as in the past, the $400 2017 streak bonus I earned over the last year is being given in *$25* chunks over *16* two-week periods. This does not work for me. I was never a weekly player at this cardroom. I play there roughly once per month. I actively made sure to hit my streak hours threshold in 2016 and was absolutely going to plan trips around the streak bonus payouts. $25 does not move the needle for me; it doesn't even cover the movement of a needle on my fuel gauge for a trip.

Frustratingly, the message above the payout schedule says:
Come on. Only a small portion of your customers would prefer this to the payout they thought they were earning with their play last year. And zero of your customers with play history like mine would.

Look, I feel like I put in effort to earn something of value to me and was instead given something of no value to me. I understand what the business incentives around this might be, and, to some extent, sure, I get it, but it's hard to not feel insulted by this message.

edit: I put my new Live player's card right next to my Full Tilt Black Card.

Wow, this is terrible news about the streak bonus. WTF?

I will say I was a little shocked to see the mailing as well. I generally don't need to be at a slot machine 4 times a year, but to be forced to play on it 16 times, that's time away from the poker table. I never bother with any other like bonuses when I could take down $25 in one hand with my premium hands.

I actually prefer the 1/3 games at HSB and MGM over the 1/2 at MDL. I avg about 500hrs/yr but put in my 100 hrs at MDL last yr to keep my gold card streak going. Well, that helps me narrow down where to play more in 2017

Making it even more frustrating, the time periods end Sundays at 11:59 PM and the next period doesn't start until Monday at 9:00 AM, so you can't use two periods during the same visit. Truly disappointing.

Anyone have an idea what happened? That stampede was something else.

Some POS carjacked someone in DC and police chased him to the casino . He may or may not have fired a weapon at the police. He was apprehended .
Edit : It's not believed he fired his gun there.

that streak thing pretty much writes off MDL for me too. I maybe visit 4-6x a year, play a marathon poker session, degen slots and table games -- oh well.

i guess competition isn't always good for the consumer after all.

I found the opposite to be true on Friday. The bigger stacks led to a lot of overplaying and some very large pots early.

BTW: Off topic....but I always thought the "fragrance" haters were just being overly sensitive. Yes, I always knew there was fragrance, but never really though much if it. Until yesterday...I walked into the upstairs poker room and almost choked it was so bad. I felt like I was breathing liquid perfume. I am now officially in the "Fragrance Haters Club."

Yea it was weird since my playing hours showed in the bravo kiosk machine when I checked as I was leaving that day. Oh well, I'll see what the rewards desk can do about it next time I'm there.

I'm Gold x 3 streak but also got the notice about the $25 increments. $25 at a time isn't enough...

Is this a sign of ML just giving up? Nobody but their beancounters would think this distribution method is a good idea. There isn't any way they can spin this is good for any of the customers. It's sort of insulting for them to even say they're doing this because people demanded it, no? It's just very disappointing.

this is exactly what it feels like. It's not like I was a frequent visitor, 4-6x maybe a year, but I'd donk off in the table games/slots before/after poker.

for casual gamblers, this just feels like a kick in the nuts. i'm not going to go every week, or every 2 weeks, and it feels like $ is being taken out of my pocket now. it's not a huge amount, it's more the principle of it.

was willing to occasionally make the drive to MD live even if it was 20-30 minutes further to me than MGM coming from NoVA. c'est la vie.
