Can foreigners cross the border yet (from Mainland) without quarantine/proof of recent covid test? I know Chinese have been able to for months, but you know how it goes.

It's dead, deal with it. No entry for non-greater china residents anyway. As somebody has said above, when the zombie apocalypse is over, doesn't exactly look like we are close to it right now, there is a small chance that some casino might want to seize the opportunity and reopen a room. A small chance.

Anyone currently in Macao aware of the requirements for travelling from Macao across the border in to the mainland?

I have a residency visa for PRC and know that we can get in to Macao with a covid test, but I can't find any information on the requirements for getting back in to China.

Still no poker in public room in macau?

i can't speak regarding whether games are running but as i understood it they had pretty much stopped running anyway pre covid mostly because of declining interest and they have table caps and a baccarat table makes much more money than a poker table and is infinitely easier to manage/run

xi has cracked down really hard on corruption and one of the easiest way to draw attention to your corrupt activities is to be bringing massive amounts of cash with you to gamble in macau

factor in quarantines etc etc i imagine it'll be shifting back towards pre 2008 Olympics poker era where you could commonly find private games dealt in apartments and private rooms in the back of tea houses and restaurants of beijing/shanghai etc etc

this is all pure speculation though, perhaps someone itt from hk will have a take grounded in facts

Even from HK you can't go to Macau these days without massive quarantines and other stuff or being a super VIP (not a casino super VIP). Entry from other countries is basically not possible, only from the mainland, but not that easy either. From what I hear the casinos are doing very poorly financially, some may not renew their licenses, but that's just hearsay. As for poker last I heard it's still totally dead, no games in the casinos, there may be private games, I don't know

Finally getting a weekend in Macau next weekend. Cant wait, but are there actually any games still running that people know of? Last I heard the Wynn had stopped running games but I haven't been keeping up.

Report back if you find something but AFAIK no pokers in the casinos anywhere anymore. Maybe underground/private games. How do you get in without quarantine, from the mainland?

Yep, going from GD so no quarantine. Not sure how I'd find a private game - WeChat/TG maybe?

Will check Venetian & Wynn and cross fingers....

Is possible to enter Macao right now coming from EU countries? Without too much hassle

No. Basically still completely closed, you will be denied entry if you are not resident of one of the Chinese territories (incl. Taiwan) and if you are then still various things needed incl. quarantine in most cases.

Any luck in any of these venues?

Just heard poker rooms in Wynn & Venetian are NOW open! Is there anyone in Macau now who could verify?

Source? I'd like to believe but seems unlikely given that there was never enough traffic from the Chinese alone, and they are the only ones that can visit at present. Also at least for the Wynn the area where the poker room was was rebuilt for more baccarat. Ofc it could be reversed within a couple days I suppose but without any foreign traffic into the poker room it seems nonsensical. I'm in f*ing HK, even we cannot visit, I'd check the current state if I could, but still quarantines and a ton of other BS...

When I was there, a manager at the Venetian said that the poker room was closed but would be reopening 'soon.' There was 1 table running at the Wynn which I almost refused to sit in because it was 3 handed and looked very much like all 3 knew each other and were waiting for a mark. The game was predictably awful when I did sit. I've played extensively in London, Vegas, Barcelona and elsewhere - I will not be going back to Macau any time soon.

Macau itself is dead. Walking around massive high class casino/resorts and there just aren't any people there apart from small groups of early twenties influencers taking millions of photo's of themselves outside the Londoner or Parisian or couples on shopping/relaxation trips. Whole casino floors had 2 or 3 tables in use. They must be racking up huge debts paying their staff to sit there and do nothing all day. This isn't a surprise; Haikou got put in to static management because it found 4 cases over 2 days recently and my friends that went to Zhangjiajie for Golden Week have been given a free extra week there courtesy of the zero covid policy (albeit contained within their hotel rooms obviously). Even as someone that didn't need to quarantine, getting across the border isn't exactly easy and its understandable why nobody from the mainland wants to travel there when there's a pretty sizable chance that you'll be forced to quarantine wherever you visit.

Even the well known sauna I visited only had 5 women in the line up. F***ing abysmal times.

Thx for the infos. Good to hear that at least it is not completely dead (yet). The general description of Macau matches what I hear. We have more than a couple Macau refugees here in HK. I mean HK itself is in a pretty sad state these days but not quite as bad.
What sauna was that? I miss them too haha, nothing quite like it in HK, hopefully at least they will recover whenever they reopen.
For the poker I don't have too much hope, it was in a pretty abysmal state even before everything closed, as discussed earlier ITT, too many regs and too outrageous rake was pretty much what killed it for good. For a couple of hours rake you might as well invest in a return plane ticket to Manila, Saigon, or Phnom Penh to play there over long weekends or something. And everything else is cheaper and arguably more fun in these places too...

Is this poker run by Venetian or outsourced to Poker King Club like it was before?
