Gardens 5/5 game is usually beter than Commerce imo (and it's not a dump). Opposite for 5/10.

I haven't played at the Bike much.

Nobody talked about Hollywood Park but it's also good. Not nearly as many tables but recently remodeled. Not sure what's up during shutdowns.

Hustler is good for 5/5 as well. Looks like they're still closed

Where are some good places around Los Angeles that have regular games of 1/2 PLO Hi???

You can use the Bravo App and Poker Atlas? to search for games in most areas.

IMO you'll be pretty hard pressed to find 'straight' 1/2 PLO anywhere. Most 1/2 has a 5 bring in, so all they're doing is restricting the max BI. And pretty much 'all' 1/2-5 PLO plays extremely wild since everyone is technically short stacked by the Turn due to 3-4 Players seeing every Flop.

As can be the case in NL, I've seen 1/2 games that have triple the action a 5/10 game does.

I'm not a LA expert by any means .. But The Bike, Commerce and Hustler should all have some form of PLO going at all times but I can't lean you in any direction. GL

What a bummer. I see 500/1500, but how is anyone ever supposed to reach that level of play, if they don't provide a way to climb the ladder?

I'll keep looking. Maybe I can find a game of Big O that'll be close.

Troll? 500/1500 is the min-max buyin, blinds are 5-5-10 (rock)from what i remember

Not likely to be a troll; California names its NL and PL games in a (really stupid) way that is different than anywhere else in the world, and even different from their limit games, so it is very confusing if you're not used to it.

Either way he’ll be disappointed he’s looking to play 100-200 and the biggest plo game running on a regular basis in a casino is 5-10 lol

A black chip PLO game outside of Vegas and usually during the WSOP is hard to find.

Maybe I'm not calling it right.

I saw Commerce always has a 5001500 PLO game and assumed it meant $5/$15 PLO

What I want is $1/$2 PLO.

Live games are usually referred to by the blinds. Online games are usually referred to by the max buy-in. That's where the confusion came from.

The $500-$1500 PLO is $5/$5 with a $10 rock. They also have $1/$2 PLO it's $100-$400 buy-in.

If I'm not mistaken, to clarify, the way it's listed refers to the buy-in range not the blinds.

That game is a 5/5 with a 10 rock (mandatory straddle)

Thanks for all the information. So it has a mandatory $10 straddle. That sou d a little spendy. Anyone know how loose that game plays...solid players vs wild bad ones???

It's not a straddle. The way the $10 rock plays is if you win the previous pot you win the rock and it's put in front of you. And then preflop action starts to the left of the rock. A round of cards will only cost you $10 ($5+$5). The rock is just there to make the game play bigger so you can pot it for more initially. I have very little experience with PLO and am not very good at it, yet the last few times I played still felt it was a very good game if that let's you know how loose the game plays.

Hi all,

Possibly visiting LA for the first time next year.

Any recommendations in general on where to play at?

Would most likely have to play 5/5 because the other smaller games look terrible in general with the smaller buy ins.

It looks like Hollywood park is pretty nice as well as the gardens?

I would probably/ most likely want to stay in Hollywood and Uber most places if that sounds reasonable.

Would probably only want to stay for 3 days or so.

Thanks all

Commerce has the most 5/5 games, but the aesthetics are not quite as nice as the other options. Hollywood park, Hustler, and the Bike are all also good options for 5/5 but might be a bit more of a wait. Gardens casino is nice but it's considerably farther from Hollywood than the other casinos. Check it out on a map and I'd suggest trying as many as you can while you're here.

If you want to play a smaller game the Bike has a $100-$300 buy in $2/$3 game that's decent.

Also I'd recommend not spending all your time in casinos. Griffith Park is a nice place to hike. If you want to go on a longer hike you can hike up to the Hollywood sign there. The Hollywood walk of fame is a thing. Santa Monica pier or Venice beach if you get a chance.

Yes, that was very informative. I might have to try that game out the next time I head down there.

It doesn't sound like a $500 buy in would get you past the flop or turn on occasion.

So because of the rock, and action always starting to the left of the rock preflop, does that mean that for anyone wanting to limp in to the pot, it would cost them $10?

I would not uber that distance in LA. Get stuck in traffic and a $50+ one way ride is not out of the question. Even more if you come home late at night around 2am when the bars close and surge pricing kicks in. Much cheaper to just rent a car.
