London////////Atlantic City. Can't compare dude. Unfortunately 4 tables is good for a Wednesday afternoon at the Empire, can't comment on the Vic but the only other competition which is The International would only have 1 1/1 cash table running at that time.

Anyway, Bank Holiday Monday, The Int are doing another special. 4pm £100 Freeze out. Really looking forward to playing this as it should finish early enough for people get home if they travel far/by train.

Personally, I find that the empire has the best 1/2 games to offer in london, a lot of tourists and drunk people to steal money from...

Last friday evening I was playing there and I had 2 drunk people on my table, they kept on raising with stupid hands like 49o etc, needless to say, didn't take long for them to go broke, and whenever I do go there, I buy in for around 100 and just play standard TAG, and as soon as i hit 300 - 500 I leave depending on the table im playing on.

lol, im 19 so its all good for me, the only thing thats annoying about empire is that i gotta take the tube for 45 minutes, so its a bit of a mission getting there, but apart from that its good...

btw on some occasions you'll get a really dead table with everyone playing tag, if u cant change tables try to bring in the 7 deuce prop bet, that always spice things up

Let me share this...

Empire is ****ing ****, not secure at all. Chips go missing all the ****ing time. No CCTV on tables. Did you know this!

Everything has always been **** about The Empire, but the games USED to be super good.

Now too many nut peddlers and short stacks.

The room is clamped and you feel like you need a shower after 30 minutes in there.

Dealers are very friendly, but most are **** at their job.

The Vic is only slightly better, but they **** off their regs because they know they can get away with it.

£1-£1 game can't be beat with a 10% ****ing rake. So stop even trying.

Bunch of ******s and degens in both venues, bunch of ****ing low lives and many hookers if you look carefully.

**** live poker.

I could go on, but I wont.

Well Empire's poker room isn't my favourite place in the world, esp. on the tables with no rails. And yes, it's kind of cramped and sometimes feels insecure. BUT I've never had any problems with chips going missing, and the dealers have always been very good at their jobs.

The games are absolutely fantastic and consistently profitable (but they can be pretty swingy).

The Vic is far more pleasant a place, but generally less of a spewy game. I reg'd there on an almost daily basis for a long time and get along very well with the floorpeople/dealers, and find they treat the regs pretty well. Sure, you need to pay for drinks/sandwiches. Live with it.

The £1/1 is very beatable if you know what to look for. I built my live roll at that game.

Many of the players are low lifes or degens. That's what makes the games so good.

Live poker is fantastic.

I think I've only ever seen the same two Ibiza Angels at my sessions at the Empire/International but neither of them are my cup of tea. I'm really digging the Empire at the moment, haven't come across 1 unfriendly dealer and don't get the cramped feeling either.

I only have Wednesday off this week so I shall be hitting the Empire up at about 2pm to play until Thursday am, maybe with a break to go play the £100 Freezeout at the International at 7pm.

I still have not made it to the Vic, I'm guessing it won't be fishy at all on a wednesday afternoon unlike the Empire. Should I bother checking it out at all on Wednesday or wait until a weekend to go and play my first session there?

I'd say give the Vic a try on Weds, I much prefer the cardroom itself; spacious and well run. Anyway, it's only a few stops away from the Empire on the Bakerloo if worst comes to worst.

The 1/1 game can be beat depite the massive rake as the game is so super soft. Even if you have the image of a nit you will get paid off! Furthermore even though the rake is 10%, it is up to 5£ so if you win a 300-400 quid pot it is 5quid rake. This isn't that unrealistic as max buy in is 200£.

I think the Vic dealers are better as they are more professional and better at keeping the game going. One dealer at the Empire annoyed me no end by refusing to call the raises. I bet 75 and guy opposite doesnt say anything and puts chips in which look like a call from other end of table ( I was in seat 7, he was in 3). Dealer only looks at me so I declare 2pair assuming it is a showdown. Dealer practically snarls at me saying it is a raise and then removing the pink chip from underneath and putting it into the pot. Okay I lost this pot which annoyed me too but I don't think it is unreasonable for a dealer to declare such a raise rather than expect you to have amazing eyesight.

Btw the Vic will be very busy on a Wednesday as they now have their main mtt (80rebuy- 10kgtd so long as 40 runners) on that night.

^ Which room do you go to so I can avoid it :/.

No need to call csk a moron.

I'm heading to London for at least 3 months (to staying indefinitely depending on getting a job) in a couple of weeks, Living in Kingsbury and looking for a job anywhere in London doing just about anything (preferably office work). Which casino is best on a cost / benefit scale for the north west?

EDIT: Obviously not trying to avoid CSK.

What do you mean by cost to benefit scale?

And also 247Solid, despite playing at the empire countless times not once has my cash gone missing off the table, I dont feel cramped, they have shuffling machines on some tables, and they have rails on all tables. Also it is to your benefit that there are low life people there, but to be honest, im glad your not there, you seem to find anything and everything to complain about, not to mention how rude you are. The games at the empire are definatly beatable, I've had around 50 sessions there so far, around 5 of them I've left the table with £500, around 30 or so with £250 to £400 and around 15 i got felted. These games are not like online $1/$2 games, there is no need to bluff in live play, just TAG play is enough.

WTF? Obv all live games are super soft, I never said they are not. I play 40-50 hours a week live for a reason.

Just saying its ****ing ****ty playing live because you get ****ed off by staff at The Vic, and while I am on here there is a lot of **** going around about the games at The Empire being bent. Anyhow, didnt mean to offend you ****s, I am just a very angry person.

Turko, cost benefit as in, some places might be really close but really ****e whereas others may be really nice but 3 hours on the tube away.

Looking for the one I'd probably end up calling my second home.

Well like I said earlier I find empire the most pleasurable... They also offer free soft drinks and stuff although their food costs money... Sandwiches are like 3 quid or something while fish n chips is around 6, then again you have two different restaurants within the casino its self if you want to eat proper food. Cash games are played 24/7 (always a game goin on even early hours AM) and its mainly 1/2 NLHE. Since its located in leicester square you get the odd tourists now n den, and also you'll get the odd couple of people who prefers to gamble their 100 on poker instead of roulette (like I said... gamble, they will bring a lot of action to the table), the dealers are friendly although there is the odd one or two I dislike, but you will probably find that anywhere and everywhere you go... Besides if u don't like your table you can just switch to a different one... Around 4 tables have shuffling machines installed so games are on the get go faster as well... Fridays and saturdays are the best... Some really wild action, last friday I had a table with people putting double straddles on n etc although I do advise you to come early or u'll be on the waiting list for over n hour on fri/sat.

All in all, empire could def be your '2nd home'

Does anyone know if the Vic did anything about getting a LO8 game going? Heard somewhere that people were lobbying for a 2/5 or 5/10 game.

The regulars moan on and on about the Vic and its known for it anyway, my session there I was sat next to a couple of them who complained about absolutely everything and anything for about 4 hours. The food he had was crap, the food he had the other day he sent back, the manager, the dealers the cards, the location, the parking, that there was noone looking after the seating, when there was someone looking after the seating it was the wrong person etc etc etc.

But they will be back there day after day come what may and to a point if you dont like somthing and dont vote with your feet then the management will feel they dont have to change things however big the moans are. Having said that I know there was some sort of players meeting with management so maybe some changes will come out of that.

It is a nice cardroom having said all that though, but for now I will be sticking to the empire just cos I think its a slightly fishier game at the £1/£2 level.
