No sign up at the empire, just bring ID and wander straight in. You need to sign up at the Vic which takes 5 minutes but is not much hassle

YouCheckRaise has it right.

To get from London Bridge to Leicester Square, go to London Bridge tube station and take the Jubilee Line (silver) westbound for 2 stops to Waterloo. Then change to the Northern Line (black) northbound for 3 stops to Leicester Square. Should take you 20 mins I think.

Dress code
Empire is most lax. They allow you in with pretty much anything. I'd stay safe though. Jeans (not ripped), t-shirt and jumper is fine.

Vic - they don't like hoods, football shirts or ripped jeans. Again, casual is fine but not scruffy.

International - same as these. Common sense really.

Registration
Take ID and you'll be fine. Easy game.

By the way, is anybody playing at the Empire tonight?

YCR - you run way too good at Emps.

Sounds pretty cool. Enjoy. Played last night. I just seem to always end up on the nitty table when I play Fridays. Slow, no chat and nitty whilst eer other table is in full flow.

lol at this one dealer at Vic
I saw him making small mistakes pretty regularly but this time I have trully lol'd. 1-1 with straddle, he deals, but sb got only one card, so the guy mentions it to the whole table and everyone is like ok missdeal and they fold they hands. Now the dealer ships the blinds to the guy straddling, WTF ? He says 'I decleard the hand dead' and the straddler shouts 'But everyone folded!'and argues for 5 min that pot is his ROTFL. They called the floor and it got sorted out, but how can he not uderstand such a basic stuff dealing proffesionally ? I think he's name is David or Dave or something.

bump

so, coming in to london with a friend saturday 12th. our main cardrooms will be empire and vic.
i see there is a £30 freezeout at the vic on sunday and a £50 freeze on saturday.
do these fill up fast or is there no problem getting in the tourney at late reg?

i will probably only play 1-1 or 1-2 cashgame.
a couple of months ago i was at the vic and they only had one or two 1-1\1-2 tables, a very long waitlist. just wondering if it is worth it to go over to vic for such low stakes and few tables, or has this changed?
my experience of the empire have been better for those stakes.

also if anyone know of a good place to watch world cup in the area it would be appreciated.

thnx (answers will result in a drink on me at the empire

Has anyone been to the Golden Nugget casino or the Mint in London?

Apparently golden nugget has a £1/1 running.

I'm sure The International poker club in Old Street will be the best place to watch the World Cup. They've just bought HD projectors and will be showing every match on a 3 metre by 2 metre screen.

Yes that's right, Duplix, existing members will be happy to sign you in as a guest, particularly if drinks are being offered!

Queensway fits the bill, lived there for years and miss it. Fits all your requirements and you can walk home from the West End if you miss the last train.

Those who go to the Empire (or anywhere around Leicester square) and like good food, give the Empress of Sichuan - 6 Lisle street, a go.

Second try at this, will be in town Friday night the 18th, and looking to play in a NLHE tourney. Thing is the world cup will be on, and I have checked some places. The international is only running sattys to their Sat main event, so that's out. Anyone have some suggestions???

The empire has a turbo £20 rebuy on weeknights and the football will definitely be shown there.

Fwiw, you can sell your satalite ticket at the int to regulars at a 1% loss or something.

Its late in the afternoon and Helen is at the table and has consumed a bottle of wine, she says she had just come back from Singapore and wanted to gamble, so she drops a monkey and then rebuys for another £500, she is sat in trap 3 and pushes all in, there is one caller, she has A 4 the other person has A K, needless to say she gets lucky and spikes a four on the flop, she flips the dealer £25 and then berates the other player for calling, telling him what a good poker player she is. Welcome to the Empire the biggest fish tank in London.

Anyone have thoughts or experiences with this place

http://www.bigslickplayersclub.co.uk/

They have a deep stacked tourney Friday night at 8, but you have to sign up as a member 2 days in advance...

Went there twice a couple of years ago (there are actually several clubs apparently with this same name, I'm assuming you mean the one in Purley/Croydon), seems pretty decently-run, didn't much like the structures of the tournaments, seemed pretty fishy though.

What sort of hourly rate do you think is achievable at £1-£2 at Empire?

Wondering about how the hourly rate compares to multi-tabling 100nl / 200nl online...(assuming it's a winning online 100nl / 200nl player playing live).

Recommendations for small stakes PLO in London? Looking for something like £1-£1 I guess.

Also, anything I ought to know/do/avoid playing live? Will be my first time.

PLO rarely runs at the vic or Empire as far as i know, if it does it will always be 1/2 from my experience. Check out this thread
