Why does everyone say Palm Beach is so easy/soft???? As every time I have gone I have found it hard to see any value except in my seat.

Had someone this week saying how soft/easy palm was... I said I can't beat it... he then says 'oh well that was two years ago, maybe it's changed'... hmm, if he was easily beating it two years ago how come he's now sat at a 1/1?????

So bananpeel have I been unlucky (been about ten times) and always got a tough Vic pro table... or is it very rarely an easy game?

Can't believe the table charge doubles after 4am...
I am from Los Angeles and there are tons of good and great players there. The games are much much tougher now than two years ago. I am not sure why someone would prefer to play at a place where the games are loaded with pros then with more tourists?

The 1/1 and 1/2 games I played at Aspers were loaded with worse players than what I am used to in LA. Also you can buy in very deep (up to half the biggest stack which was almost 900 pounds at the 1/1 game). Since it plays so much bigger I would tend to stay there and bum hunt.

I didnt get to the VIC so I cant say how that is. But at Aspers it was pretty bad play. Most players playing a more short stack tourney style with over 200 bbs.. not very profitable in a cash game.

Were you at the table at the back and icing your knee? If you fit that description I think we were at the same table...

It's actually worse than I stated above.

As our game was short handed, 3 or 4 handed most the night. They still rake. They take full rake even when heads up.

They are VC (not rake) so like the Int they get out of having to pay tax on gambling revenue or have to apply/pay for a gambling license

I have never been so angry at the fish tipping dealers as I was last week at Equal Chance. Kept it to myself.

Yes there was one player there who was banned elsewhere - so maybe that is their player pool.

One chap elsewhere this week said he doesn't go to Equal Chance because of 'issues'... not sure if he meant cheating? But he didn't mean the rake. He wouldn't elaborate on what those 'issues' are/were.

So the one good thing about Equal Chance? Well I was so stressed by their rake - it was nice to play at a venue that allows you to smoke at the table.
Equal chance is a confirmed joke. I heard some dealers will take whatever they can get away with so youre probably getting 'raked' 20-30%. Prob best to avoid this place...

Brutal session last night; losing 3 buy-ins for my biggest losing day in a while. I literally can't count the number of times people rivered disgusting two-pair hands - I'm putting in value bets with KQ/KJ/AJ/QJ, and I'm getting looked up by K6o, A4, Q3 all hitting two pair on the river. Then I flop the jack-high diamond flush with J9dd on a 578ddd board for straight flush redraws, get the money in on the turn when an Ace hits against a guy that always overplays TP hands, he has AdQx and he hits a diamond on the river. 30 minutes later I raise my button over half a table of limpers with 56s, flop is 789 two-tone, bet/call, turn is a brick, bet/raise/call, river another brick, bet call and the guy flips over....T6. Last hand of the night was my personal favorite and where I just gave up and went home; I turn the nut straight on a rainbow board but with an obvious one-liner to a straight, I re-raise all-in against the fish who -turbocalls- for 75BB with two pair drawing to 4 outs, which of course he hits.

We make money at the lower stakes from the call-happy showdown monkeyfish that are oblivious to pot odds, but damn. I hate poker so much sometimes.

I think it gets about 100 runners with a 30 minute clock.

Are they still taking 50p extra rake in the Vic 1/1 games for that freeroll thing?

At a guess i'd say,

20% pros
30% decent
30% fairly bad
20% dead money

aspers!

only the vic/aspers/fox run 1/1 with lots of tables

aspers has so much value, so many bad players, and while the olympics is still on, the only downside is the carpark is closed, but the trains are running til 1.45am...which helps out

games are running 24/7, with at least 8 tables at 9pm last friday.

worth a look
