Does anybody have any info on how soft the 2/5 game is at weekends and confirmation of how often it runs?
-- All weekend poker at The Empire sounds great. It's my own personal favourite. You'll always get into a 1/2 game but the 2/5 is something they're always trying to get started but it never really takes off. (They struggle to get interest for 1/3 as well.) The one time I saw a 2/5 game in action, they were all solid regulars and I wouldn't have touched the game with a barge-pole

To be honest I think I'm going to stay at the empire on Friday as I don't want to move around and end up sitting around on waiting lists so might not be able to hit the Vic but will probably pop in Saturday day time to see what it's about while I'm there. Just in case that changes or you're there Saturday and happen to see a guy with one blue in ear headphone in 28 with short browney blonde hair come say hi if you like!

Thanks for the info, think I'll avoid the 2/5 like the plague then!

Yeah, it sounds great to me too. I've only played live casino games about 20 or so times but have run really well and always been surprised at how soft the play is. Think I'm probably going to take Friday off of work too so I can have a look around London before I get going, can't wait!

Aspers also get 1/2 going sometimes which I think is 5% rake capped at £10.

I was there last Friday, it was rammed because of the east end live comp. They had a couple of 1/2 tables, lots of 1-1 and a table of 1-1 5card and 6card PLO - many pots over £1k and a couple which hit £2k according to mate at the table. I know what you meant about hit n runners though, a guy got it in super bad, binked for £200 pot and just got up straight away. Meh

I am really upset with the way FPC bullie people into buying the dealer chips. Disgusting.
But then the schadenfreude of the £500 overlay cheered me up.

lots of places force the dealer chips, to hide the huge rake charges.

always good when theres an overlay!

Was at the Fox last night, looks like there was a pretty good overlay. Wish I could have played in it, but couldn't stay all that late so just played cash for a couple of hours.

And man, had a *great* table - complete opposite of the night before. Actually only recognized a couple of people. Big stacks, lots of pre-flop action with raises to 10-12 being called by half the table - some pots were over £60 before the flop! Real juicy action. Unfortunately I was pretty card dead almost the entire night so didn't get too involved. Lost a big pot with KQs, hit K on the flop to villain who was literally playing every hand; he had K6o, called my 80% PSB on the flop (?!) and binked a six on the turn. Grrr. But I got all my money back with AQs shoving over the top of his big pre-flop raise and a caller, Q on the flop and held.

The Fox has actually been less crowded recently; usually can walk in and sit right down, which is nice....

Yes the games seem relatively soft...but the coat check takes -forever- when trying to drop off or pick up a bag; the line always has 15 people in it and it moves at glacier speed. The toilets are a 15-minute hike. Wait staff take forever, if they bother to come back to the tables at all. The auto-shuffle tables are nice, and really speed up the action and the dealers are all decent (vast improvement vs when they first opened), but the floor does nothing about hit-and-runners doubling up, leaving, then coming back to a different table with their short stack 15 minutes later; saw it twice in the 5 hours I was there; both players and dealers pointed it out to the floor, floor did nothing.

Slightly better rake and slightly softer games, but only 1/1 (no 1/2 going the entire evening). It's a PITA to get to/from, and just seems more stress-inducing more than anything. Plus, I don't like the heavy chips <g>

FWIW, here's a list of the basic rake structure for the major card rooms in London (am I missing any?). I wish I didn't like the Fox so much, the 1/1 rake is really too high. I wish they would cap it at £5 at least. Moral of the story: Play £1/£2 or £2/£5....

Rake Table: SB-BB | Min-Max | Rake

The Vic:
£1-£1: £40-£200; Rake 10% £5 cap
£1-£2: £80-£400; Rake 5% £10 cap
£2-£5: £250-£2,000; Rake £7/half-hour charge

The Fox
£1-£1: £25-£200/50% of large stack; Rake 10% capped at £7
£1-£2: £50-£500/50%; Rake 5% capped at £10
£1-£3: £100-£1,000/50%; Rake 5% capped at £10
£2-£5: £250-£2,500/50%; Rake 5% capped at £5

The Empire
£1-£2: £50-£400; Rake 5% capped at £10
£1-£3: £100-£1,000; Rake 5% capped at £10
£2-£5: £250-£3,000; Rake 5% capped at £10
All pots over £25 have £1 deducted for BBJ

Aspers Stratford
£1-£1: £25-£250; Rake 10% capped at £5
All pots over £20 will have £1 deducted for BBJ
(Note: I couldn't find any cash poker info on the Apsers website...
About the hit and runners today 2 friends playing on the same table one won £1500 and the other £600 they left and they came back after 30min and sat down with £50 i called the floor and they made them buy in for another 300 instead of the full amount! then one of the guys told me that i should shut up because i am a kid and i know nothing so i replied by telling him that he is cheater and a thieve by doing this on purpose and never talk to me again after this i changed table. the floor dont take this seriously and its a shame. At the empire you get a ban if you try this twice

Then maybe all players who object should get up and leave the tables when nothing is done. They'll soon take it seriously if it starts to affect their rake.

Well, good point - I guess I'm rarely in that position because I wouldn't be playing K6o because even when I hit my King I'm not all that happy about it because I'm almost certainly out-kicked.

Hi Guys,

I am a fox poker club regular in Shaftesbury Avenue. I think its a great cardroom which is largely due to friendly atmosphere and actually having some light (which I know most poker players aren't familiar with!) The problem with fox poker club for players such as myself as despite it's positives the demographic the club is aimed as it generally beginners and recreational players with a rare good £1/2 game often being the best game. The recreational players love the £30-£50 tournaments as well as the £1/1 cash games.

Personally I think the Fox has great potential to get good games going with bigger limits and deeper stacks. It's got a good atmosphere with friendly staff which is why I think if these games got going then they could maintain the influx of higher stakes players. We are in the process of setting up a regular £1/3 which could lead to a £2/5 game with some potential perks for the regulars/new timers. The details will be discussed when I meet with the clubs managers next week.

We are looking to get a list of players who are willing to play regularly so the game can always keep going at their designated time. The game will have a minimum 100 bb sit down (£300 for £1/3 and £500 for £2/5) and a minimum playing time of an hour to ensure that the game doesn't die when someone scoops a 5 way allin when every1s playing 50bb!

If your interested in getting involved I am starting a thread so post in that or PM me. Would like to know by next Thursday as that is when I am meeting with the Fox manager team.

dream on, how do your propose to inforce that?

the fox should be happy it gets huge numbers for small limit buy ins, and they must love the 1/1 game with its 10% at 7 rake!

the other thing limiting action is the size, as they always reach max capacity during the big events, which is a real shame

Hello everyone,
Could anyone please tell me where's the best plo action in town?
Looking for 2/5 maybe 5/10 games. 1/3 will do if there's nothing higher. What casinos spread it regularly? What time do the games usually start?
Thanks in advance, cheers.

the vic is the only place you will regularly get a game. they get at least 1 x 1/2 everyday now, and usually a 2/5 or 5/10

the international and big bluff occasionally get dealers or some kind of omaha game going, but not garenteed, so need try your luck
