I am just about done, making posts about Horseshoe, Indiana. Actually, I don't have any more "criticisms" to make. I've posted them all.
BTW. You ("RAISE IT") more or less opened up yourself and the joint, for my posts, by coming in here (B&M Forum). You were bound to attract a person such as myself. You have to accept the "bitter with the sweet".
Your place of employment is an impersonal, corporate entity. The comments I have posted, can't "hurt" a coporation's "feelings", because it has none. I don't "love" your joint. It is the business of Harrah's to separate people from their money. It is my job, TO KEEP MY MONEY. Nothing personal, just objective reality.
Magoo...I've read many of your negative quotes, agree with some, not with others, but I've got to say that this one is right on target. The placement of the podium does, indeed, speak volumes, because that's where it all begins.
I play at the Horseshoe almost daily, and I like playing there for various reasons, but I can't escape the feeling that the room could be run a lot better. I will agree that the staff is courteous and friendly, but what I see regarding the general complaints in the room, is a lot of lip-service, and no real changes.
You can complain everyday about the frigid temperatures at some tables, and the floor people will tell you in a friendly manner that they'll "see what they could do," but in reality, they can do nothing, and they know it, so why bother with the bs? I've truly come to believe that they just walk toward the podium and
pretend to register your complaint.
The atrocious table tops with the annoying Horseshoe logo plastered all over them, were supposed to be changed as soon as they developed a "little wear and tear," but the truth of the matter seems to be that we'll be stuck with these eyesores for a good long time to come; I'm guessin years.
The $2 chips in games they have no business in, has been a common complaint since the day they were introduced. "Management" said they were going to "take them out of these games shortly, because of all the negative comments regarding them." Have you noticed this change?
What "change" could be easier than this, and yet there they still are, in games they have no practical purpose for, causing daily annoyance and confusion. If management cannot address a problem as simple as this, do you really think we'll be looking at logo-less table tops any time soon??
There are a lot more things that could be improved at the Shoe, but if simple things like proper chip denomination, and comfortable room temperature cannot - or will not - be addressed, what's the point in bringing them up?
You are correct in saying that Jeremy "opened himself" up to the complaints on this site. If he assumed all was going to be roses, he assumed wrongly. I like Jeremy, because he seems to be trying harder than anyone else, but he's limited in what he can do, and it appears that his main function is to "smooth things over," rather than create any real changes in the operation of the room. And while we all regard him as the poker room manager because Jason is rarely seen in public, the fact remains that Jeremy is a
shift-supervisor, and shouldn't really be taken to task for all the rooms shortcomings.
The message seems clear: Harrah's will do whatever they want, and we have the choice to put up with it or play elsewhere. This is such an easy ultimatum for them to offer when there is no "elsewhere," but there will be, someday, and if the Horseshoe doesn't believe it, they might want to ask Resorts/Ameristar, Majestic Star, and Hollywood.
