The Sunday is cheaper, but not even 1/3, and offers half the guarantee.

During the week, workers who have day jobs will have no reason to go to the Shoe when they can go to Live AFTER work, and I doubt Sunday will make much difference.

Players who want less expensive tournaments would have come to the Shoe for them, I think. Now we're still driving to Perryville or Delaware.

Developing a tournament schedule is always a work in progress and can change from month to month. In the room we have gotten positive feed back on the schedule. You should come down and give the tournament schedule a chance.

See you soon

We are looking at adding a PLO tournament to the schedule very soon. I want to make sure the players get the quality tournament at the Horseshoe the my staff and I have been known to provide in the past.

It was clarified later that diamonds and up do get priority seating, but I've never seen 5-10 run and 2-5 has had maybe 3 tables at one point. I'm sorry, but until you consistently have a daily 5-10 running at least toward the evening and multiple 2-5 games, there is no reason for me to jump ship. Their lounge has no finger foods like other properties, they don't have a car service and I just am not seeing a reason to show up yet. I mostly play time rake games, so jackpots are of little interest to me, so I don't care about what Live is doing right now or what the Shoe isn't doing.

So what do you have Anthony?

Doc,

What I say is give us a true day in court and we will show you that the games are there and we can be the best in town. Don't give us a day here and a day there. Give us a solid showing, we will win you over and you will not want to leave.

And how many of those people said "Compared to Live, your schedule is awesome!!!"

Why?

You're only running mid-day tourneys, which are during my work hours, offering lower guarantees or just matching those at Live where I and people like me who work days can play after work.

I don't need to come into the room to see what's posted online.

This approached work for Cincinnati because the other area casino had done a fair bit to alienate players in the year before Horseshoe Cincinnati opened(using 50 cent chips to get more rake and basically giving up long before the new casino opened). However, with Maryland Live! booming before and after Horseshoe Baltimore opened, it seems curious that there is no attempt to compete.

Anthony. I suggest that the Horseshow offers tournaments that are different than Maryland Live. For a number of months, Delaware Park offered Omaha, Omaha 8, HORSE and Crazy Pineapple $65 buy in tournaments on Saturdays. They usually got 40-50 entrants for these. I believe that if a casino in this region offered tournaments like this, even during the week, they would have more entries. Maryland Live fills their poker room and has no reason to offer these tournaments. If you want more people in your room, offer players something we can't get at Live. I live outside of DC and would drive within a mile of Maryland Live to get to the Horseshoe. At this point, I have no reason to go to Maryland Live. Give us something different and people will come. Give us the same and I'll go to the closer casino.

Anthony,

I am a low stakes player who is a reg in C-Town mainly because it is half the distance for me to drive there than it is to either of the Balto. area casinos. I eat the extra dollar in rake they charge there because the shorter drive time makes it worth while.

I come to Balto. once or twice a month to visit family, and usually play a session or two at MDL while I'm here.

I would love to give your room a shot, but I'm not paying the extra rake to do so. Also, if you want to run a 1/3 game, the max buy-in should be at least $400.

Change these things and you have the chance to get my business. In the meantime, MDL it is.

Best of luck to you and your new room.

I am pretty sure CTown rakes pre-flop, whereas MD Live is no pre-flop rake. No pre-flop rake is >>>> the extra dollar.

Stopped in last night and was very impressed by the cleanliness, bright lighting, and party atmosphere of the casino. I saw three different live bands on the premises. The pricing on alcohol also seemed reasonable. Based on my experience last night, I'd stop in just about every time I'm in Baltimore if I have time available.

Great recommendation. I would make the drive to play one of these tourneys.

I would suggest that you make the rake $5 and $1 or $4 and $2 for 1/3.

Obviously everyone wants a lower rake, and was disappointed when they decided on $6 rake.

I think they know that. It's futile to keep bringing it up now.

You're right, they do; and it is.

But driving times still don't make it worthwhile to drive to Balto. 4-5 days per week to play. And when I do go to Balto. the driving difference between MDL and the Shoe is negligible.

As a recreational, tournament-only player who works a full-time job, I'm completely disappointed with the tournament offerings. Since Sundays are usually bad for me, there is noting at Horseshoe that I want to/can play.

I had (mistakenly) assumed that with the small room and WSOP brand, tournaments with higher buy-ins and better structures would be offered (Like the MD Live Sunday $330 tournament) Instead, we get more turbo and turbo/bounty structures just like MD Live and Perryville.

Missed opportunity I think.

My one complaint is that there is no Saturday tournaments. I don't think the room is busy enough to avoid using a few tables for tournaments, especially since a lot of players will play cash after busting

The one thing the Shoe could have done was have $10 craps tables, so you could
reinvest your poker winnings on way out. Borgata has $10 tables always. Is it collusion that
ML and Shoe both want to have $25 tables and no $10 tables. Without a $10 table there
is no reason to go there.

Without $10 tables, there is no reason to live.

While the absurdity of your conspiracy theory re "collusion" is amusing, I'm pretty sure that you're the only poker player who wouldn't visit these poker rooms purely because they don't have $10 craps.
