Does the PLO8 game still run consistently on Saturdays? If so, I'm curious about two things:

1. Does it run for a good long time, or does it break after only 2 or 3 hours?
2. Are there always new players coming-and-going, or is it pretty much just the same group of regs? (If it's the latter, that makes for a very crappy game, IMHO)

How far is this from Hershey Park? I am heading there next weekend and was thinking about hitting the poker room after I get the wife and kiddies to bed. What limits do they offer?

It's roughly 20 minutes for HersheyPark. Not far at all just back roads. Depends on what day you plan on going?? All weeknights the best you'll get is 1/2 NL. Possible 2/5 NL on a good day but don't count on it.

I was checking out the Bravo Poker Live app, and a number of casinos are offering "featured games" on certain nights of the week. Here's a few examples:

Hollywood @ Perryville:
Tuesdays and Thursdays -- 5/10 NLH

Delaware Park:
Thursdays at 4pm -- 10/20 O8, 20/40 Stud

Harrah's Philadelphia:
Mondays at 6pm -- 5/10 NLH/PLO mix
Thursdays at 7pm -- 15/30 LH
Saturdays at 7pm -- 5/10 O8

Mohegan Sun @ Pocono Downs:
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am -- 15/30 HOSE
Wednesdays at 5pm -- 5/10 O8 w/ kill
Sundays at 4pm -- 20/40 HOSE

You get the idea...

Clearly, these are the types of games that don't normally run at those casinos, but maybe they can get people to show up if there's a regular schedule. HCPN has one -- PLO8 on Friday nights -- but I believe that's something the players setup themselves.

I haven't been to the HCPN is almost a year, but I can promise you this -- if there was a regular game that I really wanted to play, and it worked well with my schedule -- I would ABSOLUTELY show up and play. Maybe 10/20 LH? Or perhaps 5/10 O8 w/ Kill? Or how about H.O.R.S.E. ?

If you tossed in an incentive, I'm sure it would work. Even a pittance, like "Play for at least an hour, and get a coupon for a free hot dog".

Just another example and reason why this is the worst poker room.

Taking the kiddies to Hershey Park this weekend and figured that I would take the opportunity to check out HCPN. My overall assessment was very positive. The whole place was clean and the Dealers and poker room staff were very friendly.

I understand the comments I have read in this thread about the lack of variety in the games being spread. Last night the choices were essentially 1/2 NL 2/5NL and 3/6 Omaha. That leads to the regs treating the 1/2 as a limit game with almost no raising pre and typically 4-6 limpers to the flop. When a raise did come it was to 10 dollars and remaining was about as rare as finding a pearl in an oyster. Post flop be sizing had nothing to do with flop texture or pot size which allowed me to take down some smaller pots with proper bet sizing in position. I found myself getting caught up in the spirit of the limpfest and local bet sizing at points which caused me to misplay JJ and allow myself to get rivered by trip 6's. Once that happened I quickly reminded myself that TAG was the proper approach here.

That paid off as I raised to 10 with 1010 in late position and was able to bring along 2 callers. When the flop came AA10, I knew it was off the the races and was pleasantly surprised when the guy next to me who was playing his first hand at the table made it 9 to go into a 40 dollar pot. I bumped to 27 and he obliged with a call. The turn was an insignificant 4s and when checked to me I made it 50 to go which was called with little thought. The board finished out with a 6s leaving a possible flush and I made it 100 to go which my opponent obliged by putting in the remainder of this chips. When flipped and he showed AQ AMHIG. That is when him and his buddy decided it was ok to talk openly about how he would eventually get his money back from me.

I colored up an hour later for 625 from my initial buy in of the max 300. All in all a good experience made enter by the fact that my pair of tens paid for the Hershey Park tickets.

Sounds like the beginning of the end at HCPN. Between my experiences at Grantville and what I read in the CT thread sounds like Penn National/the Hollywood casinos really don't care for the patron much at all.

Made my first trip to MD Live yesterday from the Harrisburg area and if I continue to have good experiences at Live I wouldn't mind at all driving the extra hour it takes to get there for a better overall experience. I mean I have to twist an arm after 8 hours of playing to get a coupon for a $1.50 hot dog!!

It's a little upsetting because most everyone in the room including the regular dealers are all very pleasant and accommodating except for a few at times. CJ I think his name is (older 20's, used to be a dealer when tables first opened) has been pretty unpleasant the past couple of trips.

Hollywood unfortunately has a bit of a monopoly in the area. I suspect that once they start seeing more competition they'll pay more attention to their customers - if not, they'll go elsewhere. And honestly other than the comps being terrible I think it is a pretty well run room.

I usually get up there about once a month on Friday nights. Maybe I'll see you then.

What is with the Moose tournament? Are you serious? So you've opened the room up to a 3rd party? For what reason?

I'm confused by the link, players cannot register that morning prior to the tournament?

Also, on a separate note, if your biggest tournament of the month is the $200 draw, why wouldn't you try having a second one (or better yet, every Saturday) - and make it a guarantee....?

PA Moose Association has a fundraising Hold'em Tourney every year. We hosted it for them 3 years ago, and the last two years it was hosted at a different PA Casino. We are hosting it for them again this year. You must be a Moose member to play and you must register through them.

Can anyone give me a rough estimate as to when the next tournament series might be?

I'm all for charity tournaments and think they're a great idea, but a fund raising tourney for them that locks out folks who show up and want to play (regulars)? That's lame

I'm even partially open to the tournament, but to jump through hoops to play that day? Lousy call

I should be finding out sometime this week what the HPO plans are company wide for the coming year. As soon as I can release an estimated time I will put it on here.

Registration procedures were set up by the PA Moose Association, not by Hollywood Casino. If you are a member, I'm sure they would welcome suggestions for improving organized events.

How many runners do you usually get for your regular Saturday $100 buy-in tournament?
