Heard the dealer(s) were tipped a total of 0.10% of the BBJ...hope that's not true

The 2/5 games have been extra juicy that past two weeks. Just a ton of action.

I heard the federal government was tipped about 25%. Bad Beat jackpot-dumbest thing ever.

I totally agree.

However the other 1,500+ players who contributed to that pot realize that 1) Most of it gets donked off to Uncle Sam, and 2) Is just like playing Powerball, it has nothing to do with the actual true game of poker. Powerball at least you have a CHOICE in playing. At HC, there's no choice.

It's a novelty, in which 1/3 of every dollar that is taken goes to Uncle Sam.

And oh God, the incessant drivel about how big the BBJ is, how close this random table came to hitting it, and the "I have a BBJ hand!!", "I'm not folding that hand because it's a BBJ hand"..

Pure drivel. It's such nonsense.

Great sample size Brian. So a total of 40 players max think the Bad Beat Jackpot was a good idea, 37 of whom were in the right place at the right time. From a pure economical standpoint, BBJ is awful, especially with the high rake in this casino and the infrequency of games that run, thus the infrequency of the BBJ hitting opposed to larger casinos that run one.

Additionally, I don't feel sorry for the dealers who got .10%. They simply were doing their job by dealing. If the casino allowed dealers to keep their tips opposed to splitting them, then I'd slightly have a change of mindset on that.

Overall, glad someone finally hit this but this has to hurt their business now starting over and losing appeal of the delusional visitors who think it's realistic to hit.

Those who are complaining about the BBJ need to remember that the intent of it is not to provide another +EV option for players. It is simply to get people in the door and at the tables.

I don't know how effective it is in the long run, but the fact that so many places choose to offer it and so many people talk about it at the tables makes me think that it has some merit.

So, keep in mind that while this is certainly taking another piece of your hourly rate, if it enables us to have games to play by bringing in some people who otherwise wouldn't be there it could actually be part of the reason that you're able to be profitable in the first place.

I tend to agree with your point. However, if the point is to bring people in the door...they bring people in the door. I wouldn't say the BBJ has had an impact on the players this draws into the poker room. I've noticed no difference in players and the room mostly only has weekend players.

The talk of the loss on the hourly rate from the BBJ is pretty lol. If you are trying to grind a living at Hollywood in the poker room, you are doing it wrong. Just enjoy the room for what it is. A local poker room which saves a lot of us a much longer drive somewhere else.

The room is what it is. No competition means they don't have to bend over backwards to appease the players. Brian does what he can.

I agree Brian does what he can within his control and I thank him for that. A the same time it's going to see like he takes a lot of the heat because he's the face of the poker room.

I agree a BBJ shouldn't kill an hourly rate but it does take a lot off the table after the ready ridiculous rate and slow dealers. I don't agree with we should accept it for what it is and move on. In fact, the only way the room has a chance for any change is if the local poker community comes together to make a stand. Accepting their monopoly of a way is giving in and is like folding to a pre flop aggressor.

Unfortunately, I think the only way the players will have any stroke is if another room opens within a half hour of Penn National that provides a better product. Not local competition means no reason for the suits to give a ****.

We pay 10% of the field, rounded up, with a minimum of 3 spots paid. Same payout structure for all regular tournaments.

So if, for example, 122 entrants you would be paying 12? If thats the case, thats aweaome. Regardless, will be there on the 26th-27th for a little birthday vaca.

Rounded up, so 12.2 becomes 13.
