I have a hard time believing any of this nonsense about the bad beat and seven bucks/hand drop.

#1 They can't pull $7, I really don't think people would stand for it. The reason for the supposed change would be to draw people back into the room - who the hell is gonna deal with seven dollars a hand, add a tip and its 4 small bets. Ridiculous.

#2 I can't see Hollywood dropping the rake from $6 to $5 and then adding the $1 for the bad beat. They just don't seem to work this way, lessening revenue isn't in any casinos best interest, unless it will draw in alot more business - and Hollywood won't GIVE ANYTHING to ANYONE despite how positive an impact it might have.

The managers simply don't give a damn about this room or poker players. Then they probably sit around and try to figure out why the drop is off so significantly since they opened. Hollywood sucks. Others have reported that they emailed the casino via their website with questions about the poker room and have never even gotten a reply. They just don't care. Don't care enough to get competent people to manage the room, don't care enough to take care of the players, just don't care. I'm done with them for now.

Standard poker room practice from NJ to CA dictates no flop/ no drop. Why should they do it and not catch any heat because of it? I think the 10% up to $6 on regular pots is more than enough.

Would anybody ever be interested in getting like a 20-40 limit hold'em or 7-stud game going?

20/40 is a bit too high for me, but I would love to see a 5/10 or maybe a 10/20. But the chances of that ever happening are probably slim-to-none.

Even getting a 5/10 or 10/20 game going would be cool. It would be great if we could find a group of people that would play a mixed game of like HOSE. At least on like a Saturday night or something.

We might be able to get a small group of people from this thread to meet up for a limit game. But a best-case scenario is probably 5 or 6 people, and I doubt that the mgmt would open a new table without a full compliment on the wait list.

What would probably happen is all the 2+2-ers get there and sign up, then sit around for an hour or two and hope that a few other random people sign up.

Would be worth talking to management then to see how they would work it if we had something like six people there on a Saturday night that would play a game of HOSE, or at least just straight stud or limit hold'em at first to see how it went. If we honestly had that many people interested here I could be the one to talk to management about it.

If you get this off the ground, PM me or post back here in the thread. I asked the managers about scheduling a LHE game right after when they opened and she looked at me like I had an extra head. Of course they had a list 120 people deep for 1/2 and probably couldn't imagine a scenario in which that wasn't the case. They might be receptive now. Good luck.

What is the latest word on the mid-day tournies? Numbers? I was hoping to play Thursday's 12:00 tourney.

I wouldn't mind getting in some limit games myself. Although I'd prefer 4-8 or at most 5-10.

if by "limit" you mean 1/2NL -- then yes, you'll find action.

Yes very funny. I was going to suggest Hollywood start using something like PARX's live game report but then whats the point when you only got 12 1/2NL tables running?

No word on tournies?

I'm not sure if it's the standard in all PA rooms, for one thing.

Secondly.... I'd be much more interesting in battling to change the $7 rake than worry about the rare situation when you have bet/raise, all fold and you lose a dollar.

I've heard from room management and I was told that if we have enough people, i.e. six or so, to play a game of HOSE, that they would accomodate us, in a limit of our choosing. We would have to let them know a day/time to try it out. Would be cool to get something like that going.

I played the midday shovefest today. 36 buy-ins. People began shoving at the 2nd level. Not enjoyable at all.

Anyway - before the tourney started, the floor manager had a few announcements. Mainly they have started SNG's - starting at $60 and depending on player interest. Players can ask to start either Holdem or Omaha. And they will be running tournaments on the weekends starting in July. Various types, including survivor and most if not all, costing $100+. I couldn't hear him that well. It doesn't appear the website has been updated though.

The board began announcing SNG's but when I left after getting knocked out there was no interest by anyone in starting one.

Yeah, can't say I'm very interested in any of those types of tourneys. If they would have some deepstack/longer level tourneys from time to time that would be cool, but I'm not paying $150 to shove all in and hope for the best the whole night.

Did they say if the Omaha SNG's are PLO or limit?

I'm pretty sure he said pot limit. I don't think they would tie up a table with limit. Although considering they can't get any Omaha cash games to run does anyone believe they get an SNG going? They actually listed $360 as the upper limit for SNG's.

Can someone provide a few details on the midday noon tournaments? Thinking about Tuesday.

Buy In:
Starting Chips:
Level time:
Starting blinds:
How many players typical?
How long does it last?

If this is on the website, I didn't see it.

Thanks,
-Squid

Buy in is $60+$15. 4000 starting chips. But also option of getting the dealer add on for $5 - 2000 more chips. Which everyone does. So a total of 6000. 10 minutes per level. Starting blinds are 25-50. I hear its normally 30-40. I played one on a Thursday a week and a half ago - 36 players. Its not on the website - practically zilch on poker tourneys. They have something about one on the 4th of July but I don't know what.

In addition I got a private message from someone with this info:

Thought I would send you this since you were talking about it on the boards.

Starting July 9th, adding weekend tournaments and altering blind structure for better play on all tournaments. Removing antes from all daily tournaments except deep stack and added a couple more blind levels. Altering payout scale so it is not quite as top heavy, and will be paying top 10% (rounded up) on all tournaments (i.e. instead of the 41-60 paying 6 spots, now 41-50 pays 5 and 51-60 pays 6)

Saturday - 11am - $150 total buy-in Survivor Tournament - 8000 chips/20 min-blinds

Sunday - 11am - $200 total buy-in Deep Stack - $10,000 chips/30-min blinds

Sunday 7pm - $125 buy-in Bounty Tournament - $6,000 chips/20-min blinds w/ $25 Bounty for every player you knock out.

Wed/Thurs 7pm tournaments will decrease to $60 buy-in

The Omaha SnG's we offer are PLO. $60, $80, $120, $230 or $340. I don't know if we'll ever run them, but at least they are available if the interest is there, just like the mixed games.

Also, starting today, dealers will be rotating between every table on 30-min increments.

If this is true, then we can finally give the poker room a thumbs up for doing something right.

Now if they could just fix the other 90,000 problems......

That tourny info/news is awesome!! Hopefully thats all true...I'm curious to know what the buy in/rake numbers are for those though...Hollywood tends to say "we have a $200 tourney or a $100 sng", but neglect to tell the actual buy in and rake. As long as they dont **** us to bad with the rake on those tournies, they should have a great turnout, especially for that sunday "deepstack"(10k is deepstack??) Borgata starts you out with 10k in most of their tournies and 15k in most others and their deepstacks are 30-50k starting. I guess it depends on how Hollywood starts the blind though. If they start at 25-50, the 10k isnt really a deepstack but i guess it is a Hollywood deepstack...Thanks for the info!!

I do wish they started a 10k or 15k guarantee tourny like once a month or something...Like the last saturday of every month, just do a 100+15+5 10k guarantee...I think that would attract a lot of people as well...

I used to complain a lot about 'the wood' in the beginning but as i said b4 they are getting better with time, so you gotta give it to them for that...
They also provide a room w/o having to worry too much about 4-5 men coming into the game w/ shotguns and robbing you which was always a problem/worry of mine playing in a lot of the big private games b4 they opened, so as much as the 6 dollar rake makes me wanna puke, i'll pay that everyday for the security!!

How about $4-8 Omaha h/l? Maybe a good weekend for it.
