I believe this place used to be called Empress Casino. I have never been there but was thinking of trying it out but I don't know much about it. I know they open at 10am and there are 3 tables. Does anyone know how long after they open a game starts? What games and limits do they play? How's the rake? Are there any unusual rules? Discuss

Been there ONE time on a Sunday afternoon. Also been to Harrah's Joliet ONE time. If you're close, just go to Harrah's Joliet. But if you aren't that close, just go to the Shoe.

Played here midweek the past two weeks. First session there was a wait list while one table was playing $1/2 NL. They opened a second table when the list reached eight name. The second week I played only one table was running.

On the days I was there the tables had a mixture of older and younger players, mostly regs. Skill level seemed okay. The games were pretty friendly. Much more laid back atmosphere than at Harrah's Joliet.

Hollywood Casino Joliet does not resemble the old Empress, which is good. Not bad if you like a casino that seems a bit quieter and sedate.

I would return to this poker room if in the area.

With any luck this room will be getting that time machine I've been hearing about. They can set it to the late '90s and have action here again. The dinner comps were nice too.

It'll be tempting to set that machine to around 2021. But don't complain if you end up entering a room full of Three Card and Ultimate Texas Hold'em Poker games (with video dealers, of course).
