For everyone quoting the rake, please make sure you quote it in relation to game as other games have different cost.

I love how people are talking about getting robbed in the parking garage when someone was robbed at Delaware Park the FIRST day they opened table games! You wanna talk safety....try walking in that parking lot late at night.

You think poker players are the first/only patrons to have money in that place? Plenty of people have played the BJ machines with thousands of dollars in credits, hit jackpots on slots or video poker for $10K or more.

Use common sense and be cautious in ANY casino.

It is a large parking lot. How is it any different then say the parking lot at WalMart?

I have walked out to my car at night many times at Delaware Park. Not once did I not feel safe. There is even a shuttle bus if you do not feel safe or feel like walking. There is also not a ghetto 100 feet across the street from the casino.

Don't you think thugs would rather rob someone after they saw them leave the cage with $4,000 at a casino than after buying diapers and tide detergent on a debit card at wal-mart?

My comment related more to the design of the parking lot then the establishment. Just using WalMart as an example.

i'll give it a week or two i guess to get better, i was prolly overreacting a little bit. still though, the dealers DO need to get alot better, it was very very slow. that was my main issue.

due to how close it is to my house, ill still go back.

Awesome! If they can get that on a Tuesday, then I'm feeling confident about the weekend. I'll definitely be coming down Saturday afternoon to play!

Do you know if there is 5/10 NLH (or plo) tonight. I am considering driving out there tonight. I'd call, but last I tried the poker room wasn't taking any calls.

I would love to get down there is weekend if we can get enough people to play PLO. But I must express my concerns because if the dealers are having this much trouble dealing HE then the math of potting in PLO is going to be maddening to the dealers

be advised, PLO may get disastrous if you get some of the holdem dealers i had. they prolly put the better dealers on PLO.

my one dealer, ive never seen this before in a casino...

preflop its 1/2 nl, guy makes it $10, next guy makes it $30, calls.

flop 9 8 2, 3 bet guy shoves for last $120, and is insta called. they turn over KK and A9, the dealer then throws away the deck thinking the hand is over. every1 spazzes, and the dealer just picks up the cards and deals the rest.

That was awesome indeed.

To *********** ****** reminding dealers about the BBJ "so that we get paid if something happens" though - YSSCKY.

Most of you understand that it will take a few weeks, if not months to have everything running as smooth as we'd like.

I finally got to deal a live game yesterday morning for the first time since finishing the training academy, and I'll admit as I did to the players that I'm new to dealing. I've been playing for about 7 years now and am very comfortable with the game, but my nerves were going as a dealt 1/2 which is what I normally play myself. I ended up doing a few simple things wrong that I never thought I'd do like:

-placed all but one card into the card shuffler
-had the button in the wrong spot on a few occassions
-forgot to drop rake/bad beat (not a bad thing for the players)
-forgot to throw out the missed blind buttons
-didn't pull all the money into the pot
-had a few problems swiping players in/out because I was barely shown how to use it

All mistakes that can and will be fixed in time to get the game running alot smoother for you guys. Even though I shouldn't admit it because as a dealer I know I'm expected to be on point, but I'm happy to have a player who knows what they're doing watching my back to make sure I'm doing things right especially in this stage of the opening. I've very confident that in time myself and the rest of the dealers will be up to par with everything.

I'd like to thank you guys again for coming to check us out.
Good luck at the tables!
Thanks for the honest report, KTS

This is *very* encouraging, and I will surely visit again. Please do keep us posted!

Oh trust me I have thought about it. PLO is already a slower game than HE to begin with. Not to mention that even some experienced players have trouble figuring out a pot-sized bet is, so I can imagine the difficulties that a new dealer would face. But what better way to learn than to be thrown right into the fire. Right? LOL

There's so much confusion as to whether or not a new player has to post. Don't they go over this stuff in training?

I mean, I've never felt guilty about leaving a table when the blind gets to me even though some consider that poor etiquette. But these guys who sit down and say no to the BB, "I'll come in behind", and then expect not to post in the CO....are you kidding me? Do other places actually let them do this or are they just trying to pull one over on inexperienced dealers?

The norm is to let a new player sit. The dealer gives the player an option to post or wait until the big blind comes to the player. This could be a house rule, but it seems consistent with the AC, Vegas, Tunica, and Indian Casinos.

On another note, has anyone asked if the room's rulebook is printed, or are they following the "Robert's Rules of Poker" by Bob Ciaffone that is the unofficial rules book used in a lot of rooms.

If a guidebook exists, every one can be to use a terrible cliche, on the same page -- dealers, floor personnel and players.

I would have to say that a lot of people have to stop hating on the dealers, they are new going to be slow and mess up. The thing as poker players we have to worry about are how fishy the other players are and how the action is? I don't know about everyone else but when I go , I try to win as much money as possible.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. New players were sitting waiting for their BB, then declining it when it got to them so they could attempt to come in and play their first hand in the CO for free. That is bunk, agreed?

I don't know how much of this there has been. Most trip reports itt have commented on the players understanding and helping the new dealers and that has generally been my experience as well.

Nay this is fairly common, if I am just sitting and the BB is just getting to me I surely do the same. In rooms that make you post or not.

Why on earth would this be considered poor etiquette? I've done exactly this for 3+ years, have never felt bad about it and have never received a negative reaction from any player or dealer.
