In their mind, it's mostly luck. They think it's lucky when they catch you in a big bluff with bottom pair even on a wet board and you have a good image. They also think it's simply bad luck when they bluff and you catch them.

The bookies, drug dealers, pizza shop owners, etc simply don't care about losing. Plenty of people in the area have big money. They play for the fun and to gamble. If that's up your alley, you should do well there. There aren't many "good" players there. Most of them go to Parx.

But be warned, if you ever have a night you have a bad run of cards, getting cute and making moves in Chester can make you go borderline insane.
Thank you for the information & perspective. Greatly appreciated. I'll be at Parx all evening... I'll visit Chester later in a couple weeks & see how it goes.

a) why do you want to play with better players and not fish?
b) i have heard parx $2$5 is softer than harrah's

In my experience (winrate) Chester 2 5 is actually softest 2 5 in the region. Most winning players in the game concur with that assessment. Parx is actually slightly tougher than Borgata.
However, Chester 2 5 plays a lot wilder than most other 2 5's. So, its much easier to get stuck for multiple buy-ins if you are not running/playing well at any given moment.

Chester 2/5 is a wild game. Think of the drunk 2/5 game at Borgata 4am.

looking for advice on parx vs harrahs if i wanna play 1/2 or 1/3 and really grind/try to get better/win. basically, what are the games like at both places at certain times of day (afternoon and evening).

seems like a couple people itt think harrahs is a lot softer.

You were obviously at a good table. They aren't all like that.

The 1-3 game was behind me friday night. People were definitely drinking (doubles ordered several times) and there were deep stacks. Looked like some competent players but definitely some ppl I recognized that aren't that good.

Respectfully disagree, at least for the midweek games. Although the game is still relatively new, my experience has been that the midweek games consist mostly of above-average Regs. Many are players who would typically play 2/5 NL, but 1/3 NL suits their bankroll better. The game plays tight-aggressive, and it's difficult to stack any of these Regs except in cold deck/cooler situations. The Regs all try to take advantage of the one or two loose fish who might find themselves at the table. It's definitely not an action game unless one of those fish happens to change the table dynamics.

The weekend games might be different because the player pool is different. However, during the week, the 1/3 NL game plays tighter than either 1/2 NL or 2/5 NL and draws better players than a typical 1/2 NL game. I'm not saying the game isn't beatable, but it's not easy money midweek. IMHO, there are more fish at the 1/2 NL tables and looser action at the 2/5 NL tables.

I played the 1-3 game the last two Fridays and I'm a big fan of it. There were 3 tables (maybe 4) running each time. I can definitely see it being a tougher game mid-week though. Per Bravo they only get 1 or 2 going on week nights.

I was at table 16 on Friday from 10pm til about 4pm. Good times

I'll probably be back this Friday

What's the max buyin on the 1/3 game? What does featured game mean? See ya there probably.

Buy in is 100-500

It's a bridge between 1-2 (60-300) and 2-5 (which I believe is 200-1K)

"Featured" is usually a specialized once a week game. Like a group of players might agree that "Tuesday is the night we'll get together for 10-20 HORSE or 1-3 half NL, half PLO".

I'm not sure why 1-3 is a featured game. Bravo probably still says that because it's a relatively new game (2 months?). It runs every night...usually multiple games and 3+ on Fri/Sat. I think I also saw 3 running on Tuesday.

Played at 2 tables of 1/3 last night. First one was infested with short stacks (4 less than $100) and second table played very tight and boring.

3 hour high hand periods come back Tuesday I believe. I believe they are same as they used to be. Which sucks, cause I hit AAAA Sunday night at about 1 a.m. at $1/$3. Would have liked the extra $300.

Also, the top 100 hours promotion is now bi-weekly. With $8K more taken from promotional fund per month. So, basically, if you are one of the top 3 you get $750 every two weeks or $1,500 instead of $1,000 IIRC. I am no where near the hours needed to get there.

Also, this will hurt the middling players in my opinion. 51-100 will get $100 every two weeks. 51-80 got $200 per month. So no increase for them. Slight increase for those who barely crawl into the top 100 every month (which is now my goal to make $100 every two weeks, but probably not the first one as I need a damn break).

There was a printout on the desk today for the month of Sept. Somebody logged 311 hours, wow. #2 and 3 were around 280 I believe. #100 had 77 hours in the month.
