@Kevin; I'll be there by 5 PM for sure. I'll try my damndest to get an O8 game going.

@Cmatan; Umm, because it's not a limit game? Besides, if I was going to ask for a PLO game, I'd ask for PLO8. So, hey, as long as I'm there, I may as well start a list for that, too. I just think that limit games are more likely to draw interest from new players.

I think I'd rather make the same (time-wise) drive to Milwaukee, where I'm guaranteed to find something other than nlhe. It's longer in distance, but easier in traffic.

Also, down to 6 in under 4 hours.
I played; thought it was a lousy structure, mainly because of the 20 minute rounds. Basically turned into a shove-off by the 200-400 level, and I didn't see a lot of skill. Just a couple guys hitting lucky flops, followed by donks unable to fold. At least it was over quickly.

Good to hear you guys got some O8 action in the room! I worked late and was a bit tuckered, but I'm looking forward to checking it out soon.

@ BadgerMike; Thanks, but I think I used up all my luck just getting the game going!

@Kevin; Nice to meet you! Sorry I couldn't keep the game going but if I played one more hand, it would've been on massive monkey tilt after that last hand I played!

My own runbad aside, there was a mix of good and bad players and by no means was it a solid, tight table for the first several hours. Capped and 3-bet pots pre-flop were not unusual. There was a bit of straddling from the 3/5 NLHE guys sitting in.
Props to the floor for being willing to start the game for only a $1 rake until it got full. OTOH, I think their ploy of keeping all of our names up on the "list" may have prevented some people from joining in once seats began to open up. I know that by 10 PM, there were open seats, yet no one was coming to sit despite the existence of the aforementioned list. Moreover, there were names on that list that were NOT seated. We did, however, pass around a pad and pen and people wrote down their names and numbers to get text messages when a game is going to go. There were at least three people seated who have played in the Hollywood Aurora Friday night game which has died. I say that Harrah's has a chance to take over that 5/10 game, particularly if they make it a feature game with that fixed $3 rake.

Who's in for playing next Friday night (7 PM)??

bump.

Repeating the call for 5/10 Omaha Hi/Lo this Friday night. After all, it IS the last Friday night of the month of June, and thus the last Friday night where we know we'll get the $3 max rake. Anyone else plan to come?

Playing any WSOP events by chance? If so, good luck! Hopefully, O8 won't be a passing thing. If the right people are reading this thread, maybe they'll make it a feature game like I suggested above and I'll see you another time.

I am a donk. A complete and total fish. I know it. I make bad calls, play bad pre-flop, and even worse post flop. I only play every so often. Usually a few hours a day in Vegas, and I'm typically there once a year for work or vacation. Aurora is still an f'in dump, and Hammond is farther than I'd like to drive just to piss away a few bills when I'm bored.

So I was happy to see Joliet open. I checked it out. Nice room. Decent enough staff. Some dealers are good, and some not so good. Drink service was frequent. Overall I'd say it's a nice room.

Too bad the regulars are a bunch of tools. I'm OK with dumping a bunch of cash in a gambling session because I know I'm a bad player. I don't need a bunch of WSOP wanna-be and other assorted white trash giving me crap about it.

So I would just like to say thank you. Whereas I may have started going every other week or so and dumping a few bills until I wised up and found something better to do with my time, some really poor sportsmanship probably saved me several thousand dollars.

Thank you.

I've gone several times in the past few weeks. I'll sum it up like this - it felt like an old-bodys club that I wasn't a part of and they didn't know how to treat their fish better than they should. I left with $700 in my pocket that the table wasn't going to get a chance to see.

Here, I think the Casino security caught the table on tape:

I see the same type of behavior at the Shoe all the time. Regs berating fish to the point the fish are uncomfortable playing and then the same regs bemoan how there are no fish left in the games any more. And the ironic thing is many of these "fish" have done much more with their lives off the felt than these regs have. Idiots.

Maybe the credit for that could be taken by one small female. I've seen her in action. At least one medical doctor, won't be in there again.

+1 to your post Tom. As for Reverend, I also began playing at Harrah's once or twice a week since early June. I am a recreational player only and while I am out of work I enjoying playing during the day as a diversion and release. Many regular players, not all, are miserable people who I believe get a high off of berating others (fish or not) to make themselves feel superior. Fact is most of them are not only wrong to do so but wrong in the accuracy of there statements.

I like the room and management and I think more than any other in the area are really trying to create a fun environment for all. I happened to watch an instance when an grouchy old regular (John) was trying to force an even older casual player into a bad all-in call. The dealer appropriately and tactfully handled the situation which was nice to see that a regular didn't get special treatment.

In summary, don't give up what you like to do because of a bunch of grumps, they are in EVERY poker room I have ever been to, but enjoy your time and when they get out of line do as you did and take their money and leave. That is the best way to pay them back.

A 1/3 or 3/5 reg berates you... 9 out of 10 times this is a good thing, as they are a 1/3 or 3/5 reg.

Agreed. Last couple of times Ive been there during the week it is just SOLID regs. They all think they are superstars and pros. I go for a good time, to chit chat, and hopefully build a stack.

The best was talking to one of the dealers at around 4am...."Yea, I'm thankful most of the regs leave after 3ish, now I don't have to listen to the "pros" telling me what the correct bets and calls were."

I was buzzed and thought it was hilarious.

Didn't mean their play was solid. That they're attendance is SOLID. 90 percent of the people are the same people day in and day out.
