It would be nice if the rewards program were a little more transparent, but it's not. I was under the impression that the hotel had the ability to comp things that were charged to your room (meals, internet, etc.) during a stay, separately from using RCs to pay for these things. Whether or not they choose to/will actually do so is of course another question. Is this not correct?

What odds are they offering for pass line bets? 100x, 2x, 5x?

No live poker. Was there yesterday, Saturday, August 18. My best guess is live poker is still months away.

I saw three craps tables and two roulette tables in action early Saturday morning. They were a pit of blackjack tables still roped-off, but looked close to being ready.

In other words, they are still making sure the security team is ready for card counting teams and other exploiters.

Maybe, but on the higher limits, a new player may only be able to enter the game on a new shoe. Of course, this does not eliminate card-counting, but softens the impact on the house, right?

Live-dealer BJ tables are running in newly opened HL room. $50 minimum bet, $2,000 max. I saw a couple of live-dealer $25 BJ tables running adjacent to roulette.

Just like in all other full-service casinos, more than a few poker players have already been gravitating to the new craps tables.

If you're a reg poker grinder at Cherokee, u prob already know who many of them them are. They include some some of the better and/or very loose/aggro poker dudes.

FWIW, One of them told me Sat night that the craps tables, being brand new and not as yet "broken in," are giving off weird, funky caroms and bounces.

You missed his point. Card counters could've been active on the e-games all this time. Starting live games wouldn't change that... unless the e-games use continuous shuffling?

Admittedly, I've never played e=blackjack before, and I haven't even played blackjack at a table since my first few times in a casino over 20 years ago, but why wouldn't the machines countinously shuffle the cards? Isn't the only reason a human dealer doesn't do it after each hand because of the time it takes while a machine could do it instantaneously?

A lot of players prefer it not to be continuously shuffled (obv) so when they aren't they advertise that they aren't.

Almost everyone who plays BJ fancies themselves some sort of awesome card counter (or has some sort of other insane system) and I can guarantee the vast majority of people who think they are counting cards +EV are actually doing it -EV, so from a casino's standpoint it's probably not a big deal to not be continuously shuffled if it will get more business.

Continuously shuffled=no way to count cards. Not continuously shuffled=possible to count cards. But if most of the "card counters" are incompetent the casino might be better off inviting their action by not shuffling after every hand.

Right. While they may lose some to the successful counters, they probably gain more from the poor counters, making it a net positive for the casino. Unfortunately most casinos don't think like this, they are penny wise and pound foolish.

haven't played there yet, but most casinos (harrahs other locations included)
use multideck shoes, you can't come in, the cut the shoe to stop, etc..they have removed the edges that can be made counting cards. The mistakes most all people make "counting cards", even if they are knowledgable, in my opinion are greater than any statistical edge remaining , only the best could try at high stakes and hope for cards to ge out of balance.

The card counting days were best with two deck shoes and before the instant replay level of surveilance....I know, back in the 80's I counted cards successfully for fun , not for huge sums, was eventually detected and asked to leave.....not worth the time anymore. moremoney and fun in poker. in my opinion

I am mildly surprised to see that no one has mentioned the Cherokee poker room's Poker Pro system was down from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

It was a major pain in the arse for lots of players.

I was told that Poker Pro's server/tech gurus in Charlotte shut down the Cherokee system at 7 without any notice.

The floor guys in Cherokee said they knew little or nothing about about what happened or when the system was going to be brought back up.

Did those players get any comps for Wednesday?
