Might be in Charlotte for business next week. What games might I find during the day on Tuesday? Only 1/2 NL or might there be PLO or something else interesting? Thanks.

Cherokee Casino is starting to advertise on Atlanta TV stations, and at the end of one commercial I saw today they mentioned the upcoming WSOP-C event.

awesome news!!! bring in the boom. its amazing to me to hear all of the stories about all of the home games in the area. hopefully the word will spread in these games that cherokee is a great option for poker instead of home games with crazy rake and threat of robbery/cops.

The staple is 1/2 NLHE. It can be expected at all hours of the day, with the possible exception of late night, early morning. Typically we have between 50 and 80 players for our Tuesday night tournament (7pm, $60). If you're playing that night, 1/2 PLO, 3/6 Limit, maybe even 2/5 NLHE could be expected. The more people in the house, the greater the variety of games you can expect, and Tuesday is typically our busiest weeknight.

Went for first time and was disappointing to find there are no free drinks at this casino, which is pretty lame.

Also, not a fan of the poker pro tables at all. I get their advantage, but I have never been more bored playing poker in my life then sitting around with strangers staring at computer screens and pushing buttons. You can get used to anything, but this is not something I want to get used to.

Looking forward to playing a few circuit events with actual poker chips, cards, and dealer errors n all. It's a pretty nice casino although they never have rooms thu-sat it seems. Most hotels down the street have a shuttle on the hour running back and forth though from what I saw, and if you have to walk from one that's close by its probably no more then a mile.

Same with almost all of the Indian Reservation casinos that have no competition close by. For example, none of the Seminole Hard Rock casinos in FL serve free alcohol.

But most all of Indian casinos do serve free soft drinks, including Cherokee. One nice thing about the Cherokee poker room is that they have a refrigerator with bottled water in the corner of the room, so you don't end up tipping a waitress $1 every time you want water. That would add up to about $5 per day for me.

In FL, they also allow poker to be played at Greyhound Racing tracks, and at those poker rooms you don't even get free soft drinks.

You def get free soft drinks, coffee etc in west palm kennel club. But yeah, free alcohol would be great for the poker room games and casino table games I suspect.

Pfunk.

thanks for giving the tables a try and taking the time to post. I respect your comments.

I play quite a bit of live poker in casinos all over. In my experience, fun social tables are hit or miss. I have many times sat down in a cash game in after not a single word being uttered for two rounds I usually say something like "is talking not allowed here". That usually lightens up the table. I take it on my self to get the table more social.

I dont get to play PokerPro in casinos for money but from observation, of which I've had years and years of, as new players on PokerPro are getting use to this form of poker it will for sure divert their focus. I've seen very social games and other games where that is not the case. imo it depends partly on the mix of players in the game. If you are playing with players who are mostly non-social, the first thought that comes to mind to most is that its due the table.

But all that being said, loving poker like do, and having graduated from NC state in '86 and living in NC ever since, my excitement level of getting a circuit event here cannot be put into words.

April 4th cannot come soon enough. Feels like I'm a kid waiting for Christmas.

Hope to see you there.

At BestBet in Jacksonville soft drinks are not free, probably because there is a cafe right in the corner of the very large poker room.

I think it is fair to say that tables are a little less social with PokerPro. But I think the main reason is that each player only has 45 seconds to act (good IMO) so there is more concentration on poker, especially since with PokerPro one is playing about double the number of hands per hour compared to live dealers. But some people don't really like poker that much, and just like to fondle chips.

Lou can the tables be setup to run a satellite into the $250 or $365 events, and let players log on online also and play vs the live players?

Now that would be cool.

Good luck and I hope you win some bragging rights in the events.

Can you explain this? Do you mean play two games at once? The PokerPro computer screens are for one game at a time only (shows your hole cards, betting options, chip stacks, etc), and they do not have general purpose functions like with a Windows desktop or an Internet browser. The community cards are shown on a single large screen in the middle of the table, in the same place as they would be with a live dealer.

Just a silly idea roger. Online player buys into a seat at the table. But he is online. Never mind. Not in my lifetime anyway. Thnks for asking though.

Just called up the Cherokee poker room to see when they plan on getting live dealers for poker, and I was told hopefully in 2 weeks. Not gonna hold my breath, but it is a better answer than what I got last month when they had no idea.

I suspect that the drop dead date is going to be April 4th, start of the WSOP-C. As you probably know, plan is to have live dealers only for 2/5 and above.

Anthony, in the case you guys are deciding min/max for the live 2/5 and 5/10nl games, I would like to suggest $300/$1000 and $600/$3000. Time drop every 1/2hr on par with Vegas standards.

Just my 2 cents.

Do you know the min/max for current 2/5 and 5/10 games? I would assume they will be the same.

2/5 is $200-1000. Not sure about 5-10.

I'm thinking about heading to Cherokee tomorrow. Anyone able to tell me how many people I can expect on a Friday night?

If you are wanting to play 1/2 NLHE, there should be plenty of action late into the night (and usually at least one table straight thru until Saturday). Buy-in is $100-$500. Some tables have mostly small buy-ins, and some have big buy-ins, so different tables play quite a bit differently, and you can request to be moved to a different table if you want.

Anything else is hit or miss, but usually at least one or two other games will be running Friday evening, such as Omaha, or Limit HE. I am not exactly sure, since I never play these games.

Saturday 10:00 AM tournament gets a good turnout (about 60 on average) and many of those people will play cash games Saturday afternoon.
