Next time you are at the room take a look at the scrolling promotional fund information at the bottom of the wait list TVs. Back when the jackpot was 270k the promotional fund was 500k. Promotional fund and BBJ are separate accounts. This means 3 weeks ago the room was holding over 750k in your $1 drops alone.

Hitting a BBJ-eligible hand is a once in a lifetime kind of event that should be awesome. someone won 12k and will be taxed around 4k from that 12. It sucks they received so little when the room holds so much.

The ME seat promotions are cool, but there is also the whole argument that the promotion money is coming from cash games but being given to tournament players.

I dunno, I just feel with how rare the BBJ actually is that even the lowest possible amount won should be a decent amount. Especially with how much promotional money the room holds.

I'd like to argue that the BBJ is dumb and I'd like to be raked $1 less every hand.

I'd also like to argue that giving away tournament seats drives cash traffic. (which it certainly does)

There is no way to make everyone happy and it's not like they keep the money. Like you said, hitting the BBJ is rare in itself for the casino, let alone for the individual. Your chances of winning a seat and getting something back for the $1 they take every hand are much higher. Not to mention the higher win rate you achieve from promotion grinders wanting seats.

If it all went to the BBJ 99% of the room would be wasting $1 every pot. They do a great job of mixing it up imo.

I spent over 1,000 hours in that room last year and never got a dime from the BBJ. I did win 2 seat promotions for a total of $3,000.

The BBJ draws players to the games--I'm one of them. I'm not a fan of NLHE cash games (I prefer Omaha games, O8 the most, and tournaments of any poker game) but since Omaha was not BBJ eligible I ended up playing more NLHE cash games the past few months based on the ~$270k BBJ. I'm sure there were other people, including non-poker players, that were lured to games they are not suited for with the dream they'd be at a table that hits the BBJ. I was. More fish = better for you.

I was being extreme in my example on purpose. The BBJ definitely draws players, but so do all the other promotions. The other promotions are also much more attainable. Saying they should take money from the promotions that you have a real chance of winning for one you are unlikely to ever benefit from makes no sense though. The Shoe does a great job incorporating both varieties.

Perhaps if they started something like this: "If the BBJ goes more than XX weeks without hitting, the subsequent BBJ after it hits will start at $YYk"

So if it goes 10 weeks or more without hitting, it would start at perhaps $30k and go up normally from there.

Yeah, I understand. I wouldn't mind something like Aces Cracked = $100 or something that is achievable. Frankly, though, $100 means nothing to me but the chance to hit life improving money in the BBJ is more alluring to me. Even just being dealt in at the table of the $270k BBJ would mean getting (approximately) one free WSOP Main Event buy-in. $100 is just a half-BI at 1/2.

Getting a $1,500 ME seat and winning that tournament leads to life changing money and is still way more achievable than ever winning a BBJ or even being at the table.

Oh no, I like the variance in how they disburse the money, but I think a little more should go to the BBJ. Starting at 50k and starting at 10k will not be that big enough of a difference for the room to go negative, but it's much nicer for someone to win 20k guaranteed rather than 4k guaranteed when they hit their once in a lifetime BBJ.

On a totally different note, what's the noise level in the poker room? You can't hear the music outside can you? Thats always a distraction for me.

They somehow got a 5-10 nl game going tonight, on a Sunday, during a blizzard. They hardly ever get a list for this game on a Friday or Saturday. Curious as to who was playing.

Ive played 5-10 nl here once. It was short handed and as soon as the drunk guy at the table busted the game broke.

If you sit at one of the first few tables in the room you can hear the slot machines that are located outside of the room, but after that you have no problems.

We got a 6/12 Stud game going today from 10-2. It was a nice change of pace. It would be nice if this could be a regular thing.

It'd be nice to get some $5/$10 or $10/$25 NL going during the tournament series.

Let's try to get a night where we can get a 5/10 going? I would say Saturday would be the best.

I'll be getting to Cincy Saturday the 15th, definitely in. It will probably be later in the evening though, like 9.

How many people have been playing in the Sunday 1215 tournament? Thinking of coming up tomorrow.

I think the last couple of weeks have been in the mid 80s, in case you are not aware it is now a $15k guarantee.

I usually play at HSI, not played at Cincy yet. With a field that size and 30 minute levels, guessing 7-8 hours?

Keep telling myself I'll get out here (Live in Indy, buddy lives in Greensburg which is halfway to Cincy). Anything peculiar about the Shoe or is it similar to anywhere else?
