well this place is going down the drain quick..
high hand is now only $100 per table running everyday now.. quads or better...
except no qualifier wednesdays....
cash tables are empty during the week for the most part,
tournies still some of the best in town.

i get they are losing money probably, but now youre just losing more by changing your promos... rakeback starts at 40 hours now compared to 25 before.

If so, the room gets closed.

It's nice to have a poker room, but the place can't afford a poker room that is losing money.

Have a tournament series with $300-500 buy ins, nice trophy, garantees and a 1k final and you'll get people there. Half the people that play poker in Ac have no clue there's a room in GN.

The GN in Vegas has a "Grand Series", it's printed right on the felt of the poker tables in AC. Why not bring it here with good Guarantees right after a Borgata open event when all the tournament players are in town? Start the series on the 2nd flight day of the Borgata main event. Players will naturally migrate over. advertise it heavily on local billbiards, and by other regional casinos. Also in magazines such as Bluff that are in card rooms. Guarantee 100K worth of events. If it tanks which I doubt it will tham wash your hands of poker at GN. Its on life support now so its time for extreme measures. The winter open is a few months off, and enough time to plan it out. If not RIP GN poker room.

An October series is perfect. Or even start the week after borgata. November wouldn't be bad either

Better check their website. There is no 6:15 tourney on Monday (although Poker Atlas shows one). Might want to call to be sure.

I don't know either what the answer is but GN, being a small and somewhat isolated property, made a mistake in trying to compete with CET for low limit NLHE players while offering similar promotions. In business little newcomers don't take down big established companies unless they have something clearly different and better to offer.

It's cool, it used to be 6:15 but they changed it to an hour later which I found out about in advance and was more convenient since I had time for a nice dinner with the wife before I gambooled away our fortunes and she hit the Boardwalk.

(And now, the brag...)

I actually took first place in a chop, which was great since I'd been on the schneid lately. I played well, navigated having a sort stack while being card dead pretty well, won a couple of key races and most notably doubled up when I pushed from the button without looking at my cards.

I had only 12 Big Blinds and everyone else folded) into a big stack who called with AQ. I exposed one card - a 3 which was live at least - but the second card I peeled was an Ace which sucked (although had I looked I woulda pushed any Ace here anyway) but fortunately the dealer turned a 3 to keep me alive.

Even though short I abused some even shorter stacks on the bubble (one guy folded Jacks and tens in a row while we were 8-handed and 6 got paid), the bubble burst and I was in the money with a short stack.

This was probably the first Monday PM tourney to not have an overlay, but I did save the $15 entry fee since I work in another casino.

Someone suggested that everyone get $400 (about 3rd place money) and play for a first place prize of around $935. As a short stack, this was fine with me and we made it so.

I doubled up with AQ against 77 and then I started eliminating players. When three-handed I raised the button with 88 and called a BB shove and eliminated him when my pair held up against A5 and suddenly I had 80% of the chips on the table.

I told the other guy that I would take $800 and he could have the rest and he took it. Finally I won a tournament. It felt like ages since that's happened.

The structure is great for a small buy in event. Some of the dealers were a bit rough but the supervisors were all very good. This is a good tournament even if you don't get overlay or can chop the admin fee.

Thinking of playing the 10k GTD on the 30th. Any idea of how many runners this promotion usually gets? assuming there won't be an overlay since it's a holiday weekend.

Just seen on Golden Nugget's twitter that they are offering 3X comps every Wednesday. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that rate for $1/1 is $1.50 and $1/2 is $2. I'm not sure what $2/5 is but that's very aggressive. It runs from 12pm to 12am that day.

What a shame as I look at this thread. 4 posts since July. The management in the room is great. Too bad the powers that be seem almost determined to see the room fail. Crossover play meet anything. It was going somewhere 6 months ago and not so much now. I was down last night and there was one game going until 10Pm they opened a second 1/2. I wouldn't have been there but did the slot tourney I had an invite to. The Taj closes next month. Where do those players go? It's up to you Nugget executives. Help the management of in the poker room or its gonna go like half the rest of this town. I'd never set foot in the nugget again if the room closes. That will be a lot of players story. Doubt they really care though. That's even sadder.

3-6 OE (Omaha/stud) went all day to about 1030pm thank to yours truly. .

Yes, the kings, dukes, and earls we're all in the house today.

First time something other than Holdem has run in this room I think lol. With the exception of when me and my buddy played NL/PLO mix last weekend.
