Borgata has lots of competition within walking distance.

I spoke to them, apparently they are coming by the end of the week.

Hi, Is there any bus/cab service to Norwich from Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun? Will be carpooling and might stay later than my friends. Don't really want to walk 8 miles back at 2am in the morning.

Cabs, of course.

There actually are CT bus lines that can probably get you from either casino to Norwich - but I doubt if they run at 2 am.

Pretty sick. So those amazing offers that showed up last week in my account are now gone, and replaced by the same crappy $69-119 rate I had in September.

I got my Oct offers today, too. ($119/89/69) It looks like FW informs you by email and online in your account at the same time now. Offers used to show up in my account first by, I'm guessing, a week or two.

I got my October free room Sun-Thurs offers today but no points or other offers yet. I was getting 30/30/40 points. Do these offers typically post later than the room offers?

Much later. You won't see them for another week or 2.

Anyone interested in playing PLO or PLO8 tonight? I'll be in the room in a couple hours, let me know!

He played well all day, although he does that thing where he sits motionless for about one minute before making a move and making a decision. Kinda like Eric Baldwin or David Sands... that real slow motion thing. Kessler and the third-place guy on the other hand, they made FAST decisions and never slow-played. I appreciate watching that. I don't always appreciate the slow, methodical style of guys like Mark, but... oh well. Who am I to tell them to change with that kind of success? Maybe I need to slow down too?

I worried the kid was gonna drink himself out of a title, he starting sucking down the brewskies really fast after dinner, but maybe one of his friends told him to cool it because after a while he wasn't drinking them anymore, thru the heads-up battle.

I thought the third-place kid played really well, going from the short stack entering the final table, to almost taking the chip lead on that KK<AJo hand just before dinner break. As he pointed out to the table mid-evening, he took a beat from each of the other three remaining players where he had the best of the equity when all the money went in... welcome to my life, kid. LOL I hope you handle it better than I can.

Finally... I wish someone would explain to me why a poker pro would EVER live in Mass.? When it's one of the few states that doesn't allow an income tax deduction for "gambling losses"? This is a big topic for me because I moved back to Mass. myself to be near family for a while, but I can't wait to get the heck out of this ripoff of a state. It's pathetic they're actively courting big-bucks casinos when they treat their own citizens who "gamble" as if we're dirt. Meh, off my soapbox.
I left mass in 09 realizing that playing poker there with no casinos, no deductions, and unreal premium cost of living was a disaster.

I'm a little late getting here but just wanted to say thanks for the kind words. Definitely frustrated to not win the thing, because I really wanted that invitation to the Circuit championship. Now I'm going to have to grind it out in the points race (at other venues) to get there. But that's the game. Next time I'll run good at the final table and win it all

I don't play live much, but when I do there's usually someone at the table that goes on and on about how we could have hit the bad beat jackpot if this, that, and the next thing happened, and I always (quietly) roll my eyes.

So naturally I got table share of the $118k BBJ on a 1/2 NH at 10:30-ish this morning. Nice group at the table and it looks like the dealer was taken care of well.

Guess I gotta stop rolling my eyes though.

Congrats. I was at the 1/2 table next to yours. Yeah, the dealer <removed> had a big smile on his face as he was leaving your table. Our table got into the usual discussion about how much to tip. One veteran said the norm was 2%. Sounds reasonable to me.

Just a reminder about the privacy rule here (rule #2, no names/descriptions) and a pre-emptive reminder about tipping discussions (rule #3, not outside the containment thread).

I have to hand it to the woods on this one

and this might be the first time those words have ever come out of my mouth in 10 years.

I went down last night to play a bit of 1/2, and sit in the 7 seat. From the moment I get there the 10 seat is chirping about the HHJ and how if he gets a royal then foxwoods is going to hear about it.

He then explains how the 1 seat hit a royal, only using one card and foxwoods paid him out for the high hand.

He says "I told the dealer and the floor and they basically just neglected everything we said at the table" (apparently more than one player spoke up and no one did anything about it, just continued on as if the player used both hole cards).

So this "man, if i get a royal" line comes out once every 90 seconds for the following 15 minutes

I finally decide I'm going to nudge this guy over the edge and maybe tilt him, so I say "don't worry so much about it, you're not going to get a royal anyways so just relax"

"WOAH, who the hell are you? Why are you getting on me? Do I even know you? What's your problem with me, calling me out. I can't have a little optimism?"

Tilt mission complete

I nudge him a bit further just for fun a few hands later when he opens to 12.5x over one limper, on the button.

But I opt to back off and I tell him I'm just having some fun, don't take it personal. It's all good

He's like

And he brings up the HHJ again.

I finally say "well why do you keep talking about a royal, what about an 8 high SF or a Q high SF? Are you going to bring those up? If it was wrong you shouldn't have let them pay it out and you should have put your foot down regardless because it potentially hurt everyone's chances in the room, not just yours."

He says he did try, but they wouldn't listen, and if he does hit it he is going to make a complaint.

I retort, "But regardless they already paid it out and there is no way they will pay you if you hit it so just let it go"

within 3 minutes

couple limps to me in MP2 I opt to limp behind KJ

and we see the flop 7 ways (standard)

Flop A 2 5

Checks around

Turn Q

BB bets 10, I call and we get one more call.

River 10

(lol wtf, never had a royal, just ribbed this guy a few times about worrying about getting a royal, told him hes never getting paid either way)

villain bets 15,

I raise to 40

fold

villain calls.

I say well I guess I need to start making a complaint huh and roll over the royal.

Table is like

given the circumstances.

Multiple floors came over. Story is told and confirmed by 4 different players at the table that the HHJ was paid out to someone with only one card and that the players tried to stop it from being paid out, and the guy I was ribbing (apparently he was playing all day and was losing so my banter with him threw him over the edge, which was my plan) took my back and said "this guy deserves to get paid out, you guys screwed up he shouldn't lose out because of your error.

The floors say give us a few minutes we need to investigate this

(that was more than i expected)

I 100% expect that I will be stiffed.

an hour later they show up with the check in hand

and say they confirmed on the tapes player only used one card and they will not penalize me for their error (which is kinda weird because any Q high straight flush had a possibility of winning as well which no one would have even taken into consideration because it was announced as a royal)

I was just shocked they admitted they made the error and still paid it out. Pretty sure they had no obligation to do so.

Kudos FW

and for no reason

Jack High Spade Straight Flush (player with JT in their hand) beat Nine High Spade Straight Flush (player with 56 in their hand), if I remember correctly.

Both players all in at the end, as you might imagine. I don't recall any pre-flop raises. Can't give you street by street; it was an ordinary hand that I had folded preflop, until all of a sudden it wasn't ordinary, and at that point I was too swept up in the enthusiasm to think through each player's moves retroactively the way I normally would. Both players were generally solid in the hour or so that I had played with them.

We played poker while waiting for our paperwork to be processed, playing surprisingly conservatively considering we had all just won at least eight times the largest stack at the table.
