However, I would not advise buying in for those amounts. Standard buy-in for the 10/20 is $500 (1 rack of reds). When I played that game if I dropped below $200 I would re-buy. I wouldn't continue playing if I were under $200. The biggest swings I had in single (long) sessions in the 10/20 LHE were -$1,700 and +$2,400.

For the 5/10, because there is a kill, I wouldn't play with less than $200 on the kill hands but I guess you could get away with $140 or so.

Anyway I would strongly recommend playing fully loaded ($250) in the 5/10 LHE Kill before you consider playing light in the 10/20. It should be an easier game and when you get to play 10/20 you will be playing against less talented players.
Just wondering, is there anywhere that the min/max buy ins are posted (inside the poker room)? I know they probably won't have them on the website but I always like to look at which games are running, and min/max buy ins effect my decisions on what to play.

I don't think they're posted anywhere, but just ask any of the floors or at the desk. (If you want to wander around the room, you can look at the placard on each table, next to the dealer, but this would be a lot of walking.)

Game, stakes, rake, and buy in info is posted on the plaque next to the dealer at all active tables. The game won't start without the plaque (eye in the sky, ldo). Min buy at all limit games is 10 big bets.

Gentlemen,

Used to be quite the regular at the Foxwoods $10/$20 LHE maybe 3-4 years ago, but have moved away and haven't been since. Going to be in the area on Friday night and am wondering what the games are like. My memory seems to recall a ridiculously loose $10/$20 LHE game with a somewhat more skilled but also more wild $20/$40 LHE game.

I guess my question is this: Has this changed? I've heard that $10/$20 has become a rock garden comprised of a lot of 20-somethings trying to grind out a living. Is this true? Does it change on a Fri or Sat night?

Thanks,

Joe

I hate taking the walk to MGM from the poker room but, if its as good as you guys say it is, it is worth it!

i think since foxwoods poker room is the largest in the north east, this should be a 5 star thread, and also get bumped constantly with table stakes and availibility, how many games are running like other officail poker room thread on this forum.

It is based on availability so book in advance. I have been taking advantage of this for the last two months. If you book and don't cancel 24 hours in advance and do not show up they will charge you 50 points just so you know.

But these deals are great. They don't even ask for credit card unless you want incidentals. I stayed at MGM two weeks ago and the rooms were very nice but it was quite noisy during the early day when I like to sleep. You can hear the housekeepers and people in the hallway too easily. It seems like the walls are paper thin. The rooms themselves are by far the nicest at Foxwoods tho.

Going down tomorrow. I will probably be in the 60 turbo at 9 a.m.

The foxwoods thread does not have the active support and participation of the managers and directors that work there. So things like active table reports (Borgata thread) or direct interaction with tourney/cash game staff (Venetian appreciation thread) will not happen

Granted my memory of Foxwoods is now two years out of date, but 80% of the floors and 90% of the dealers were so uncaring and apathetic about the room, they would not have the enthusiasm to regularly update threads, handle customer questions, and customer complaints on a personel level.

I spoke to who I believed was the card room manager last week about 2 + 2. He told me he would check it out, but didnt write down the site, so I was pretty sure that my suggestion went for naught. I was back a few days later and I asked him if he had a chance to check it out and was told he was not a computer guy and that he would have to have his kid help him. Apathy at its best. Too bad. They just dont seem to care about customer service. Long term, I think Mohegan will take the business, they seem very responsive to the consumer.

I feel compelled to answer a couple of the "slams" in this thread.

1. We do want to answer Foxwoods Poker Room questions here but we need permission through our company.

2. There are alot of good people in the room who do care and are willing to listen to feedback.

That being said "we" are not able just to make changes on a whim.

We do appreciate the players and this forum. Some of us read the threads daily and are willing to use USEFUL feedback and not negative deameaning content to fellow coworkers.

The negative feedback about FW poker room is well deserved.

First of , even you admitted that there are no dialog here between
2+2 members and FW room.

As about in room action. I played recently small tourney at MS with
a ticket awarded for a Fall Series main event. Even there were not enough players to satisfy ticket award requirements, Rick ( RiLan) personally announced that ticket will be awarded anyway. I cannot imagine that the same will happen in FW. Am I wrong?

So stop protecting FW poker room management and their arrogance, please.
And I think most FW dealers are good. But it's a big difference when you talk to MS and FW dealers. MS dealers overall fill happy to do their job.

yeah i'll chime in on this as well, just because i play at the woods, doesn't mean i actually think they run a good room. place is run like crap. we all know the only reason people even play there is cause its a large room and there are more tables/action there (for now)

The floor/management is so far from being competent that they couldnt fix it if they try, because they just dont know what a good poker room runs like, they'd have to take a training course from Commerce to learn.

Example 1: Im sitting at 40-80 heads up ready to play with chips, my friend and a dealer in the box, i say "can we start the game, we are going to play 3-4 hours hu and maybe the game will fill", floor says , not yet wait a half hour. good customer service.

Example 2: Last december on a snowy tuesday night, Im playing hu 100-200 vs this guy, hes down 2-3k in first few hands and says f**k, dealer calls the floor and they kick him out. Im pleading to the floor to let him stay because i will have no action, he goes there will be other people in soon to play. I say , im sure there is a huge list for 1-2 lhe in a blizzard and a game which ive seen run 2 times in 9 years and i started both games. Thx for killing my game.

These are 2 specific examples from me and i rarely go there, the everyday stuff that goes on is even worse.

Bottom line is floor/dealers need to keep their tips and it will be amazing how the whole place changes for the better. Then you wouldnt have the miserable floor guy john whos angry at the world yelling at everyone, or big jacqueline rolling her eyes at you.

I like a lot of dealers, its just a shame 30-40% ruin it for all of them tho.
