Lol yeah. I finally decided to do something other than my usual blackjack + poker cash games routine and play some poker tournaments instead. Especially with the megastack all. And now I don't have any offers. Even down to 10 points per week from the usual 15.

Does anyone have an idea what the current cutoffs are for lounge access or how they figure out who gets in?

To get automatic access to the lounges, you need to have earned a certain amount of points on 1 of your past 3 visits. The minimum points required *was* :

Lounge Weekday/Weekend
Cedar 75/100
Hampton 100/150
Newport 150/250

However I believe the minimums have decreased since they changed to this format a few months ago. I'll try to find out this weekend.

For example, based on the above, if you earned 100 points in a single day, you would be able to enter Cedar lounge over your next 3 visits, and Hampton lounge if it's a weekday. Lounge access is you + 1 guest, 2x per day. No, waiving your +1 doesn't grant you an extra access, and no, you can't do +3 and waive your 2nd access... without a host override.

In the beginning I said 'automatic' access. If you earned 50 points in each of 2 consecutive trips, the computer will turn you down for lounge access. However, a host might override that for you, because he's smart enough to see that you hit the requirements (over 3 visits, 100-0-0 would get you in via computer, but 50-50-0 wouldn't. He sees it's the same thing, so might let you in). Note that I said 'host', not the suit at the entrance to the lounge - they have no power to override, can only do what the computer says.

I know some full-time poker regs who get Cedar access 2x/week, but that's the most you're going to get via straight poker.

MGM is the most comfortable, but it is a good 15 minutes from the poker room. On the other hand, Cedar is the closest, but the walls are paper-thin.

Agree.. MGM without a doubt. All the best restaurants and bars are near MGM. If poker isnt the main reason for the trip you won't mind the walk... it's really not that bad anyways.

Yeah the trip is just going away for a weekend with my family. We will mostly play blackjack/roulette etc. And visit the bars and nightlife. I will get some poker in and the 15 mins walk wont bother me. If trip goes as planned i might not remember the walk lol. J/K, I have it as a priority to play some poker clear minded.

I saw a (the?) dog too, coming off the down escalator by Munson's yesterday morning. I wondered about it as it clearly wasn't a guide dog.

Ive seen a guy with a dog at mohegan, someone said it was a " standing dog". Not sure what that means, but the dog did have a handle like thing that i guess you could lean on.

I saw a guy with a black lab this past week at Foxwoods. I immediately thought he was blind but after realizing he wasn't I was a little confused...

Service dogs aren't just for the blind.

Also, I have seen non service dogs walking around with their owners. I'm not sure what their policy is on dogs, but I love dogs and hope more dogs hang out at the casino in the future.

Anybody get a Wonka Bar last week? Does poker even qualify?

Save for cabs, the Seat Bus, and ferry (bus) connections, is there another way to get to New London? Thinking of an overnight trip that requires a return to New London for an early ferry to Orient Point Wednesday morning. Thanks.

A couple weeks ago, on a Thursday night someone at a neighboring table told us that for every 3 points we earned playing poker you could go to the Dream Rewards desk and receive a candy bar.

I thought this was a one day only kind of thing, I never got anything in the mail about it. I did get 2 candy bars, but was a loser on both.

Every Tuesday and Thursday through 9/22, every 3 dream points earned gets you a candy bar (note - the black card 2x benefit doesn't apply. So while you may get 3-4 pts/hr playing, only 1.5-2 count). This promo isn't being advertised very well. But it's listed here:

Interesting, didn't know of this promo. But they're really pushing at getting people to become diabetic, with the soda, jelly beans and candy bars. How about giving us a bushel of bananas?

I am curious. On a regular Wednesday would I be able to find decent 2/5 action? If I arrive at 10am and stay the entire day til say midnight, will there be sufficient 2/5 action for the entire 14 hours?

At least one table of 2/5 before noon. Probably two. A few in the afternoon. A handful during the evening.

Just a quick question on a ruling that I wasn't familiar with at Foxwoods...

My father played 1/2 for the first time at Foxwoods last week. He told me about a hand where he had Ace/junk, and at showdown the board held AKxxx and I guess he was HU and placed his cards down, flipping just his Ace face-up (the other card was face-down I guess, but NOT in the muck). The other woman in the hand with him showed down King/X for just a pair of Kings.

I'm not sure who pointed it out (dealer or the woman opponent), but my father's hand was declared dead. It was a small pot ($25 or so) and my father accepted the ruling and didn't make a fuss or anything - and the dealer was apologetic about it, but he did enforce the ruling.

Is this ruling legit? If you, at showdown, table your cards with one face-down and one face-up, is your hand considered dead? Seemed weird to me, I'd never heard of that.
