I would rather play 5-10 NL than 2-5 NL @EB only because the action is greater/looser. The first 2-5 NL I sat at had 3 guys reading hard cover books (never a good sign for action), the rest were on their phones, texting, reading, etc.
The 20-40 half kill HE game was off the charts when it did run. Cost 120 and more to see a flop every hand, I kid you not. They are tough and extremely aggressive, capping just for the hell of it. This half kill is activated when any pot reaches $200, unlike FW where a player has to win two in a row for the kill to activate. That is a huge part of the reason the players jam it in, they are making sure every pot is going to qualify for the 1/2 kill so essentially it is a 30-60 limit. So if your temper can withstand the bankroll swings, that is a terrific game to play @EB. When your hands hold up, your payoff is huge. Getting them to hold up with 6 players into the river every hand is the real challenge. And if you bluff easy, pass this game up. Trust me.
Will HYU when I return. As it stands now, I just cancelled another 8 day stay Labor Day week in favor of going to FW. I know I will always have a 20-40 stud or 75-150 stud game available no matter what time of day/night I choose to play.
Until EB is certain that they can not get top dollar for every game, every room and every amenity they offer, it is going to be slim pickings for poker players. Not all games are scarce, mind you. The 1-3 NL, 2-5 NL and 5-10 NL go off regularly. I saw lists and even games going for 25-50 NL too. But the mid limit games were a no-show the majority of the days/nights I was there.
This may be premature as they are open only 6 weeks. So until their bottom line drags below what top dollar for everything translates into, I expect them not to lower the prices on anything including time/rake, pit minimums and dining. BTW, I only ate the buffet once in 8 days and it was nothing to write home about. The Asian buffet offerings are a joke. Seriously? That's the best you can do? Dried out, leathery pot stickers and noodles that were also dried out. The sushi is sparse and laughable. Prime rib looked good as did the hanger steak. The salads were pre-plated and for the most part bland and sad. The dessert offerings were the best thing there. At $42.00 they can do better.
