Traffic to the casino may be worse if you include standard 9-5 work-commuting traffic.

I’m speculating obviously, and I also did not attend the opening today. Just my 0.02

The traffic will be bad as 16 and 99 are major roads to Route 1 the city etc etc. I’m happy and encouraged by traffic reports but there will be bottlenecks at times as the casino really isn’t the problem.

I think they really marketed and told everyone to take shuttle buses, water shuttles, Uber, etc... and it worked like a charm. The main parking lot was very empty on Level 1, I would assume more empty on Levels 2+3.

It was a little crowded by noon. They had to herd everyone to a HUGE ballroom to sign up for a red card. Very smart to have dozens of terminals and employees doing it vs the Red Card stations throughout the casino which has lines of 20-30 people. Poker Room has its own Red Card station which is great. Sign up desk had 8 people working. Lots of waitresses, a few massage girls, a lot of staff, many dealers, full cashier staff, etc... very well run. Didn't notice if there were chip runners. Saw a few dealing mistakes and def some rookie dealers a little nervous but no biggie. I recognized a lot of faces. I overheard a lot of people at 1-3 and 3-6 LHE say I've never played poker at a casino before, but this is so nice, I'll give it a try. JACKPOT! Bingo! Yahtzee! That's what I want to hear, more players entering is always nice.

This might be off topic. But i just looked up prices for rooms here. A bit outrageous.

Why is it outrageous? It's a premier hotel in greater Boston! That's the going rate.

Nah. $700+/night is not the going rate anywhere in Boston. Might as well just fly out to Vegas and stay at the Wynn out there

Does the lack of severe traffic bode well for Encore longer term? We all expected much worse traffic so was turn out below expectations?

Do a quick search yourself. I choose a random weeknight in October which showed 6-7 hotels above $500/nt and at least 3 in the high $700’s. I mean c’mon now this isn’t Great Cedar......people will pay these prices.

Exactly, it isn't great cedar. It's a Wynn property. A five star resort.

I’d be interested in hearing how everyone got there... Park at Encore? Park at an MBTA station and use the shuttle? Take the Premium Motor Coaches?

I’m coming from central Massachusetts and am weighing my options. The Motor coach from Millbury sounds fantastic, but the fact that the last bus leaves Encore at 9:30pm daily isn’t ideal.

Falling in love with new MS? Looking forward to new FW. Worth the extra hour drive?

Considering a place like the La Quinta in Assembly Row charges $250-$300/night, these prices make sense (i.e. all hotel prices in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville/Medford/Everett are outrageous)

Based on all accounts, turn out was as expected. They were running 70+ tables most of the day. I think people just listened to Encore and used public transportation

I have friends from CT, providence and Lowell who all drove in and were able to park in the garage and 4 said they experienced no traffic

Skipped today but I'm looking at poker Atlas. 33 1/3 tables running.

Welcome home everyone.

They have more video poker than you can shake a stick at. If instead of going up the escalator to the poker room, you continue straight around past the gaming tables, there's a whole section of Game King and similar machines back there. I only played some 25 cent and then some $1 at the bar later and it was all 8/5. Lost ~$20 but gained ~30 Red Card points, whatever those are worth. Like you'd almost think the reason Plainridge and Springfield don't hardly spread video poker might be because Encore bought up every machine this side of Connecticut.

Went in via the Orange Line and walked from Sullivan, which was not bad at all, though I quickly realized I could have just driven in. Stood an hour in line to get in, but that ordeal probably won't happen again. Took the free shuttle bus to Wellington on the way out, which was better. Plenty of cars stuck in traffic going the other direction by that point (~9PM) though. EBH will get a lot of nightlife I expect.

Poker was good though, or at least showed real potential going forwards. The 1/3 game I was in was slow mostly because there was a lady in seat one who never once knew the action was on her without having to be reminded by the dealer at least twice. She also swore like a sailor and spoke at a consistent 130 decibels to where I felt bad for the dealers' ears. And her friend on my left would call me with Any Two Cards and flop two pair like it was her job, but I managed to keep extracting myself from those situations with minimal pain. Ended up stuck ~$200, but I shall be back again soon!

Drive straight to the main parking lot and see if you have any issues getting in. All reports from a few friends that are still there is all is nice and efficient. The free lot is not too far away and there is a free shuttle every 20 mins if the main lot is full and this will be free even when the main lot starts to charge for parking. They subcontracted out to Dav-El a local car service for the first few weeks but will probably have their own shuttle and drivers eventually.
