I went to Greektown Casino today before and after the ball game. I never have been 100% sure about my strategy. I moved up and down stakes, looking for my sweet spot. I told myself that if I followed proper bankroll management, I could be a winner. I kept trying to beat the game, but found myself getting the worst of it more often than not. Finally, after years of study and hard effort, it all culminated in this:
Greektown TR:
I parked at GTC with the intent of taking the PeopleMover to Comerica Park for the Tigers v. Pirates Memorial Day game. My wife and I like the slots, so we played a few orbits of Aloha over near the high limit area (not in the high limit area). She wins $20, I lose $30, and we decide to hit the PM (-$30).
Game was fantastic. Not classic JV, frankly he got hit pretty hard, but was able to weasel his way out of jams with some timely strike outs. Peralta is having a great year, and so are Hunter and Pena. Cabrera was quiet today, but still scored a run. The man is human after all (hitting streak broken and batting average with RISP now under .600). Rained on and off, but with a nice Papa Grande save, we headed back to Greektown with a smile on our faces.
We decide to try the non-smoking section first. Nothing happening there at the 2c machines. That area has less cheer than a cemetery. All the machines are muted down and way too many machines were sitting idle. Boring. We decided to move back towards the back of the main floor. (-$120)
Tried our luck at 25c machines. One of the machines did not have sound (lol GTC maintenance). So we moved on. We ended up near the rear by the new steak place (closed on Monday's and Tuesday's?). Looked like a nice remodeling job. We played some stack columns machines and lost. (-$180)
We finally decided to try our luck at the Aloha machines again, thinking, why not? They were hot earlier. They were no longer hot. ($-220)
We then decide to try some Red Riding Hood machines with multiple screens. End up winning $100! (-$120)
We decide to try our luck at dinner instead and get in line to check our comps for a meal at Five Guys Burgers. Hey, we have some promotion for free play! Whoopee, $5 free play each. Oh, well. Might as well play it while we're here.
We jump on these new machines, Beijing Treasures. I spin my $5 down to 20c. Nothing. Decide to cash it out and feed it to my wife's machine, which I do whenever I'm done before her. But wait, it won't let me cash it out because it is still part of the promo. Whatever, I will just leave it for the next lucky customer. My wife hits a winner on her machine playing the minimum. I decide to dump $5 more to finish off the promo. What do you know! Very next spin, I hit the free spins bonus.
Now, I'm playing the max, but these machines are new and I have no idea what I'm rooting for since I haven't spent the time to study the pay tables. Before I can really figure it out, the free spins start and BOOM! I hit 8 pagodas. Which does not suck, since it is the second progressive from the top! Suddenly I'm looking at my winning line and it shows $1,800+. I'm like, is that too big or what just happened? The top progressive was nine pagodas for about $3,600 on a 1c machine with the maximum bet being $1.50. In the end, my wife also wins $100 at the machine next to mine. (+$1856)
Took like half an hour to get hand paid, but it was well worth it. We took our comps to Bistro 555 instead of Five Guys Burgers. Service was disappointing, but the food was good. I guess there is some strategy in these damn machines... don't stop playing lol.
