I wish I could join the feat but under the Rules for Fasting and Abstinence in the Catholic Church, Good Friday is a day of strict fasting (only one full meal, and two small snacks that don't add up to to a full meal) and abstinence from all meat and foods made with meat. This abstinence is a form of penance in honor of the death of Christ on the Cross.

Same reason I'm out.

That and fear of retribution for my MGM comments.

If you eat any meat today it comes back to life inside of you in three days, just a warning.

I play at MGM because you can buy in for $300, the room is quiet (on weekdays), and you can spend all day there without smelling like cigarettes.

Oh and the separate bathroom is nice.

If those motha ****as got some wifi, they'd be rolling in my rake money.

Yeah, that's the only time that I've played there that the club had anyone but the bartender in it... But **** was it annoying. Never been a fan of the tables. And (WPP warning) the TVs are too small.

Play is definitely conservative. Some Asian dude tabled changed to my table and started pushing the action and everyone was getting pissed that he kept raising, straddling, etc. I have no idea why they were pissed, because he sat down with about $800 and got felted 2-3 hours later. I only got one pot out of him, but he made the guy to my left $700 richer.

The dealers are so hit and miss. And they have a rule about not exposing your cards even heads up, but if you expose your cards your hand isn't dead, instead you get a warning. What kind of rule is that?

The noise from the night club is worse than the slot noise at Motor City. And a typical hand is limp, limp, limp, limp, limp, limp. Flop. Bet 60. Fold, fold, fold, fold, fold. Wash, rinse, repeat. For 4 hours.
Those tables are strangely polarizing. I really like them, other people really hate them. They have gotten really nasty and need to be refelted again though. (Having potato chips in the card room is idiotic, bad for the cards, shufflers, and the felt, disgusting.)

The dealers used to be better I think the continued splitting of tips has driving a lot of the better ones elsewhere, or to the pit games where they can make just as much money for less work. Some of the worst dealers I've had anywhere in the country are regularly dealing at MGM. At least one I *really* hate, I wouldn't piss on her if she was on fire.

I've had repeated discussions with the Floors about that idiotic rule. Either kill the hand or don't. The main guy on Fridays agreed with me about it but saids that it's a decision made higher up the chain, a bunch of the others don't care because "that's the rule". I DON'T like killing a hand just because it's been exposed, and I don't buy the "people showing and trying to get reads slows the game down" line either. That's what the clock is for. If I see some ****er pulling that I'm calling clock as soon as the cards are shown.

While those kinds of hands might not be enough "action" for you ... they're a license to print money. Limp limp limp, raise, folds around, +$15. Limp, $5, callx4, hero calls, flop, checks around and hero fires +$60. There are rarely the kind of pure insanity hands that you see in some of the charity rooms (63s took down $1k pot last night, all in preflop), but the deeper buy in drives some really juicy spots.

I've noticed that each of the 4 casinos in town have a *very* different feel in the poker room, both because of the way they're run but also because of the way the players play. While it's pretty well known that I personally like MGM, I don't care or mind where anyone plays (actually, the fewer 2+2er's I run into the better). My biggest issue is with people spouting off about how great MCC is when they've never even set foot in another room. Try them all before forming that opinion.

I saw a guy pull that exposed cards shenanigan one time. He was about 50 years old. His opponent was about 25 years old.

The young fella thinks exposing cards meant a call, and he visibly winces (never let them see you sweat, boys!) when he sees the cards flip. The dealer doesn't deal poker much, but is very competent, tall black lady...30-ish. Anyway, the dealer tells the grey-hair that if he does that again, his hand will be killed. So of course the young guy wants the floor to kill the hand, but the floor guy was uninterested in debate, & went back to the desk to groom his cat. After all that talk, the old guy says, "I call," & the young fella doubled him up.

When the hand was over, the dealer scolds the old guy, and the old guy just gives her the "who, me?" treatment. Then she says how she had to warn him multiple times about that rule in the past. Pretty stupid situation.

That wouldn't stop me from playing there, tho. I don't care about any of that stuff.

Hey, guys. Sorry, but no dinner tonight, so if you were planning on just showing up, don't. I guess Detroit is quite busy tonight. I'll post later in the week about a possible new date.

Yea, the $1/2 game is $300 max. It's nice that you can sit down at a table with a donk and buy in for 50% more than at MCC, you can get into a bigger pot without having to chip up.

GT does indeed suck on many levels. But everyone should witness weapons grade stupidity first hand at least once in their life.

I bluffed a guy yesterday with 34o on a 85285hhss board in a $75 pot for his last $6. It made my pee pee grow an inch.

Sig: Omaha8A likes my signs better than playing bottom set against a 3 bet in a spread limit game....

You probably got him to fold 67 with that bet. Just folding out that hand combo makes this a great river bet lol

Bad beat just got hit at MCC, table next to me. I guess I'm getting warmer. My first time being in the room when it hits.

The guy with the winning hand is somebody everyone knows. Old guy, super nitty, hits and runs all the time. Won't say his name but it rhymes with hoe.
