the website is confusing - here is what they have on Delaware Classic

I am thinking of playing event#25 ($300+40 25k GTD). Anyone else playing that event? How was the fields, dealers etc last year? Do they use auto-shufflers for tournaments?

Thanks.

The deli next to the tournament area has decent sandwiches. There is also a good Mexican restaurant about 1 mile east of the casino. Look for the "eat" sign.

H/O

Hi All DP players, I played at the park yesterday and it is truly sad to see my fav. poker in all of eastern US drying up and dying like Im watching. I dont have and answer and im not saying this but for any other reason than being upset. I know there r many a poker room to play at, but this 1 is just gives me a general all a round good feeling to play at. I do not have an answer to why this is happening, but I will sadly miss it..Ty to all the staff and fellow players because I have enjoyed my playing days (winning or losing ) there. TC ALL

I feel bad for the Poker Room, It is looking like they will take a big hit off this 500,000 main event... I was really pulling for them to get a big turn out.

A 1 pm start at Level 11. You can enter through level 12. I guessing about 140 registered now with an overlay of about 170K now. I wouldn't be surprised to see that reduce to 100K with todays entries.

I'm sure that I will be corrected if wrong however my understanding is that the shortfall will be made up from the cash game drop for bbj/promotions. So no need to feel sad for the card room - it's your money being used - unless of course you only play tourneys - or Omaha.

Went tonight for the "Casino Employee event"... was highly disappointed that del park took the low road and let anybody enter since it was clear they wouldn't meet the guarantee..
I wouldn't have wasted my time if I knew this would be the case... I was looking forward to degening it up with fellow industry people and the "action" play that comes with it... instead find myself playing in a nitty/miserable same old tourney atmosphere with the same regulars that play all the time..

We were robbed of (most of) the overlay and the added value that came with it..

Pretty much a BAIT AND SWITCH if u ask me.

Kevin,
This was a horrible business move.. if i cant trust that i'll get the tourney advertised when i come to play then why bother coming at all!!! next year (if there is a next year considering how big of a bust this whole series was) I'll definitely think twice about coming to del park to play.

I'm not just speaking about Delaware Park here, but really all casinos.
Have you ever seen someone who wasn't 60 in a 'Seniors Only' event?
How about a man in a 'Ladies Only' event?
Most of these are just suggestions, and I'm actually fairly sure that it's illegal to discriminate. Or at least it's really bad press, and just not something that you want to take a chance with for the casino. They make a plan, they encourage people to follow it. They don't muscle people out who choose not to follow the suggestions.

I'm aware that the seniors and ladies events are like that (you cant discriminate based on a "protected class" such as age/race/sex/religion) but this event is not "discriminating"...they're not keeping people out of this event because of a protected class... and to take it a step further.. cage employees weren't even mentioning it and several people didn't know it was supposed to be a casino employee event

I see it now, sorry if I missed it earlier, but WOW nice stuff:

Saturday 6/8 at 3pm is a O8 tourney
Saturday 6/22 at 3pm is a HORSE tourney
Saturday 6/29 at 3pm is a $10K added tourney
All tourneys qualify for points to $10K added
10 hours of cash play qualify for $10K added tourney
DST tourneys at 7PM (Better structure)

Big thanks to Kevin for giving the non-holdem tourney players a weekend tourney! Another thank you for moving DST to 7pm. I have a feeling the voice of 2+2 had a hand in this.

I see there are 4 players left in the main event. 300k left in the prize pool. Does anyone know what the top 3 spots are.
I'm guessing 140k, 80k, 50k
Unfortunately their blog has not been updated.

Not real happy about the dearth of June tourneys. Driving up from DC area, paying tolls and gas, it was nice to be able to play 3 or 4 tourneys a day on weekends. Now, not sure it's worth the trip, especially Sundays. I hope DP isn't becoming another Dover Downs....

I too was very upset after seeing the June tourney schedule. Not only did they cut back from the usual 3 a day to 2, but also did away with the green chip bounty tourney ( a 12,500 starting stack), and replaced it with the $20 bounty (7500 starting stack). Is this just a summer thing as far as cutting back goes, or is this a sign of things to come?
Also been hit or miss lately on keeping the tournament clock up on Bravo, but for some reason feel the need to count tournament tables in the total tables in action. Not sure what that's about either.

Love the Saturday afternoon $65 O8 and HORSE tourneys. Thanks Kevin

I would anticipate these to draw on the order of 40-60 players. To me that's fine - I don't see big issues with shorter field tournies. Hope that expectations are not too high on these and that you stick with them even if they are slightly shorter fields than NLHE would draw. It can be a longer-term distinguishing feature for the room.

I will certainly try to be there for both.

Shame to see the drop in other tourneys - guess its inevitable.

I have looked at the June tourney schedule and believe the room is just readjusting. DP had the most tournaments available by far in the area and in my opinion the best run. With the MD poker rooms looming, WSOP the next two months, vacations etc the room has to reevaluate staffing and other issues during this time.
I will just try and take advantage of the small fields and make a meager profit. Won the 7pm on Thursday (14 runners) and played it all the way out. What the hell the final table of the Main Event was doing it. Then went and had a great time playing 1-2 with some real characters until 3am.
DP is my local casino and I enjoy playing there. I will continue to be loyal as long as my wife allows me.
