For the most part, the chips are still dirty. They got a bunch of new $5 chips a while back.

How late do the Friday night light tourneys usually run? It looked like the one last night was going to last until this morning.

At 1:30 this morning, when I left the room, it was down to 14 players (out of 89 starters). If there are 60+ runners, it typically lasts until around 2:00.

89 starters is this typical?

That's on the high end. More often it's in the 50-70 range.

Is the HPT coming back this year?

It isn't on the HPT site under Upcoming Events. That's not a positive sign.

I was there recently and was told they are going to only do there own tournaments and no more HPT. I wonder if HPT is looking for an alternative location in Florida or if they just don't care? You would think that they would want to have a stop somewhere in Florida.

They have Maria Ho there for a few days this month. As she's an HPT commentator, it would seem strange if they've dropped from the HPT schedule. I haven't seen anything to suggest her presence is related to HPT though.

It's not. She's a regular appearance at Daytona for special tournament weekends. Another regular, Chris Moneymaker, will be present another weekend in February. They typically are a bounty in a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night set of tournaments.

Disappointing news, kinda figured since I didn't see it mentioned anywhere on there website

I was just in the Daytona area for a few weeks and played here a few times. The 1/2 during the week had a few tables going, but the action was dead, especially for how deep some of the people at the table were playing (average stack about 200 dollars). I tried to play 2/5 as much as I could. The promotions were the best i've ever seen. The high hand payouts were unbelieveable, and they did it every 20 minutes or 30 minutes. I was very impressed!
The room management and dealers were skilled and helpful as well.
The room always had lots of tables going, however it isn't the "prettiest" card room i've ever been in. But that doesn't bother me at all.
My only complaints are that they drop atleast 1 dollar after EVERY hand unless it is a chop. Also, they charge way too much for food and charge for soft drinks. Although they did as good as they could, it wouldn't hurt for them to hire a few more servers as well. On the weekend they would be slammed and only have 2 or 3 girls working.

I hate this as it makes stealing blinds and limpers with aggressive player a lot harder. They also do this down in melbourne. Is this a FL problem? Do casinos in vegas take a $1 preflop?

Highest NLHE is going to be 2-5. There used to be one or two tables of 5-10, but those players have now all opted instead to play either 5-5 PLO (high only) or a round and round game, where its a round of 2-5 NLHE, followed by a round of 5-5 PLO.

Stacks in either format involving the 5-5 PLO can quickly blossom into the 3-4k region.

Maybe 3-4 months ago they got a 20-25 game going a few times. Seemed to be a regular line-up, so might have been somewhat organized, but I am unaware of that running since then. Again I think that is because the regular players willing to play for higher numbers have gone to that 5-5 game.

Frankly, outside of South Florida, it is pretty tough to find much above 2-5 on any sort of consistent basis within the state.

That sucks but thanks for the info. Will said 5-5 and other PLO game be running most nights? I do remember a few years ago 5/10 was going, was hoping it still was but not surprised it isn't.

Also, is 2/5 $500 max or higher?

Actually the mixed game is 5/5 for holdem and plo. Buyin 300-1k or the biggest stack. That game and/or 5/5 holdem only will definitely be running at the time you mentioned, as well as most other times. It plays much more like a 5/10 game than a 2/5 game. 2/5 buyin 200-500.

Alright great, then it is at least something worth playing. Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it.

Disappointed with the room. One game of 5/5 mix (NLHE PLO) on Friday, didn't get seat in 4 hours. Most pathetic part was that they don't accept call ins. It's terrible because that is just gross incompetency. There is zero downside to accepting call ins. As I said, best description is pathetic. Oh well, too bad games are so small in the area.

The 2/5 game (with average stacks of maybe $150). The dealers were good, will give them credit for that.
