I'll be at the Crown next week, looking to play $2/$5. If I just walk into the casino with AUD on hand will I be able to play without any issues? Will I need ID or my passport or anything?

You will need a crown membership card to play poker. You will need ID to get the crown card

Heading to Melbourne for work in a few weeks and will play some cash games in my spare time, preferably $1/$3.

How is the play these days still loose as all hell or has it tightened up a bit with the bigger buy ins? Are there any players who play strictly gto, or everyone is exploitive?

They’re all strictly GTO at 1/3

I doubt you’ll find a 1/3 player that can spell exploitative.
Half the time they are simply playing bingo, the other half think 2 years of experience on Zynga poker makes them Phil Ivey

Re getting a Crown card, enter the gaming floor from the ground floor food court; the Rewards desk is just on the left. The poker room is in the basement, take the escalator two floors down from that same food court.

Friday 3pm, no list for 1/3. There may have been 3 tables that opened a few hours ago but now it’s 2/5 or higher. I think there is one table left of 1/3 but that’s it. There’s even a seat open so my guess is they will wait till it breaks then close it and re-open as 2/5.

Played a session at Crown yesterday (Saturday), the waitlist screens state they no longer offer 1/3 on the weekends from 4pm onwards on Friday afternoons.

They wind down the 1/3 early afternoon Fridays and have it back running by Sunday around noon. Seems like that's the plan going forward as well, though a bit hard to understand the logic behind it. I heard some grumbling about "higher ups say table game limits go up on the weekends, poker room should too" -- seems like the kind of boneheaded decision casino execs with no poker understanding might push

Word on the street is soon players will be FORCED to take a 15 minute break after 3 hours of play. Have heard from a couple AMs that details are being hammered out but expecting the forced break to be implemented soon. Not sure if it also applies at 6+ hr marks (every 3 hrs) or just after the first 3 hrs.

I can’t remember what the forced break rule is going to be at Star but I’ve definitely read about one incoming

How would they force breaks when a few players started on the same new table 3 hours prior?

Even at a full table, a 15 min break for one player is long enough to risk getting picked up because you missed two big blinds.

I have directly asked these exact questions to multiple AMs. The most they say is that details are still being sorted out, but the forced break is pretty much a done deal and will be implemented sometime within the next month or two.

Then again, we’ve been hearing for many months that carded play will become mandatory. They’re taking their time with that.

I liked the free $5 vouchers. Was getting fat using them on pies.

Heading to Melbourne for a few days in August. Are the 1/3 games running all the time or restricted on weekends? as per previous posts. Do they take a rake if there is no flop? Although I would assume at 1/3 there would be a flop every hand lol.

Not sure about exact timing but (approximately) no 1/3 from midday Friday to midday Sunday.

1/2 doesn’t run anymore. 2/5 is $200-$1000, two months ago it was $500 max.

Rake is taken if there’s $10+ in the pot, with or without a flop.

There’s no Aussie Millions, that’s history. And I don’t recall ever seeing 5 card PLO being run.

I'll be in Melb this week for the first time in a few years - anything I need to know about the Crown games...no rules, limits etc? Planning to play 2/5, unlikely anything bigger

Get your crown rewards card before peak hour, you need it to get on the list these days.

Straddles now live at 2/5, and if you play for I think it’s 4 or 6 hours you get a $5 drinks voucher before they kick you off the table
