How does the Bike and Commerce compare for mid-limit games (mainly 20/40)? I'll be in LA this week and I wanted to know if it was worth trying to hit both places.

Any recommendations? Is one or the other better during the week?

The video sure looks like the Bike to me, not Commerce.

Ha ha ha. Those are $1 chips from the Commerce. Most likely the 1/2 $40NL game.

Isn't the drop 4+1 in that game? $20/hr? GL.

Rake almost as much as 400/500/600 and you don't get "free" food?

The free food cutoff at Commerce cracks me up. Until they moved the 8/16 over to the hotel side, you wouldn't get free food there (or in the 9/18 when they had that). This despite the fact that they're taking more money off that table than probably any other game in the building.

If you've never been to a big L.A. card room, my guess is a reaction along the lines of "MY GOD, THERE ARE SO MANY TABLES". And that will be just the first room you walk in to.

So you don't get confused later if you just want a water...

Black tops with aprons- food service (and beverages)

Red tops- porters (coffee and tea)

Cute girl with the push cart- candy, cigarettes (and red bull)

Scantily clad outfits and big tits- cocktail (and only if you need alcohol)

Spot on description. I was at the Commerce for the first time abot 2 months ago. My reaction was, this place is HUGE! But, how come I there are no no limit tables? Because there is another HUGE rooom for no limit.

Is there an easy way to find out what sort of balance one is carrying on one's player's card?

Last week (during the LA Poker Open) they were spreading a 40-80 mix game whose mix varied from night to night. One time I played it, it was badugi, TD2-7, badeucey, badacey, and TDA-5; the next night it was badeucy, eight-or-better stud, and Omaha. (New players came along and asked to have badugi and TD2-7 added to the mix; the game broke moments after we did so.)

No mix game at this limit was going during later nights in the week.

Without my having payed much attention, I think mix games are a regular feature at higher stakes, e.g. 200-400. Commerce regs would be able to answer better.

I have no idea what's available in the low-stakes pit.

Went for the first time in months on Saturday and noticed they had switched vendors for the cards. When did this change? I hated the old cards.

Kinda surprised they didn't opt for their logo on the decks considering how much volume they have to use.

Any f-t live guys find they get sick more often since they turned pro? Been playing f-t for almost 2 yrs and being asthmatic I find that I'm getting bronchitis at least 2x more often than before. I try and keep clean by doing things like washing my hds before and after taking a piss and using wet naps before I eat... casinos and chips are just disgustingly filthy and I can't imagine air quality being any better than dt LA.

This might be an LA air quality factor.

But I have definitely had more ct related illnesses if I am grinding a LOT.

I always think it is a mix of factors like the air in casino's. Would refill my albuterol inhaler a bit more when playing high volume.

Hey guys, I was planning on taking a poker trip to the Commerce for a week and play 2/5 maybe some 5/10 NL, just because it is the biggest poker room and I have never been there, but I just came across some troubling news and wanted confirmation.

Is it true that you can only play short stacked in all the NL games? $60 max buy in for 1/2 and $200 max for 2/5?

If this is true I think the Bicycle Casino which is nearby is the 2nd largest poker room, do they have regular NL games? 2/5 $500 max and 5/10 $1k max? Also, how many tables of 2/5 and 5/10 are usually running?

No this is not true, 5-10 and higher you can buy in for a 100bb stack.

Commerce also has lead based chips, they are too cheap to replace them because they haven't been legally required to do so. (Bellagio had traces of lead in theirs and they subsequently replaced all the chips)
