I forget exact numbers, but the bottom 3 were pretty close to 10 bb or so. There was some poker being played but it was about to become a shove fest and we were all pretty tired. It was midnight when we chopped.

How many players were there at the Lodge?
20 players in the 3 o clock, no room for any more.

Yeah, we ran out of tables. We had 8 tables for the freeroll, and with the live action tables running and a few from the noon tournament still running we were jammed.

For the $60 and $100 buy-ins you start with 100X the buy in amount in chips. So 6,000 for the $60 and 10,000 for the $1000.

Blind levels are 20 minutes, starting at 25/50.

We do not take any juice on the initial buy-in - 100% goes to the prize pool. If you do a re-buy ($10 for the $60 buy-in, $15 for the $100 buy-in) the house keeps it. You can re-buy if you’re below 2,000 in chips and do it until the second break (2 hours). A re-buy gets a full stack.

There's also an optional dealer add on at the first break: $5 for the $60 for 2,000 chips, $10 for the $100 for 5,000 chips.

The $40 buy-ins at 10:00AM are more of a “turbo”. 4,000 chips, 15 minute rounds. Only 1 re-buy in the $40 as well.

Seems like the freeroll & no rake promotion is doing well for the room. When does this promotion end?

We have two freerolls going right now: "Friday $5,000 Freeroll" and the "Tournament of Champions"

There's two more weeks left of the "Friday $5,000 Freeroll". Aug. 12th and Aug. 19th.

The "Tournament of Champions" has no end date right now. You qualify in Aug. to play in the freeroll on Sept. 3rd.

The "No Juice" tournaments aren't a promotion. They are how we plan to run tournaments from now on, unless we really get some bad feedback from the players. So far the feedback has been mostly positive.

Any word on how the Colorado Poker Championship series is going. I'm out of town until the 15th but plan on playing a few when I get back

Rumors are that HPT might not come back to GG next year. And CPC ment to replace HPT. Pretty sure it will break 500 people coming september event. Will be interesting to see if GG will let go after breaking another record.

Why not? Isn't Colorado one of the largest/most successful HPT events on their tour? Or do you mean they might relocate it to a different casino?
08-10-2011 , 10:44 AM
Sounds like it is not desided yet. But the problem is the fee HPT charging GG to bring the event here. HPT raised the fee. Again going to be interesting to see management decition:keep HPT or stick to their own CPC which is gaining momentum. Hope to see HPT come back next year.
08-10-2011 , 10:49 AM
Any idea how much the fee is? Is there a chance The Lodge or The Isle move in? They both seem to be trying to enhance their tournament offerings and have a comparable amount of poker room space.
08-10-2011 , 10:57 AM
Maybe the fee is going up because the HPT is now affiliated with the Epic Poker Tour? (Still think that is the worst name ever.)

Eather that or original contract is over. This is 5th year HPT is running in GG. Time to sign new contract?

Hey guys, I'm moving to Denver in a couple weeks and i would like to start playing when i get there. For those of you who are familiar w/ the area this will be an easy question. What is the best casino to play at?

The biggest and busiest rooms are Ameristar, Lodge and Golden Gates and they are all within a 5 minute walk of each other. I'd suggest you try them all out and decide which one fits you best.

Which casinos tend to have the softest 1/2 games? I usually play at gg because I liked the laid back atmosphere but the room seems to have so many regs and nitty degens. I've heard there is a place or two that spread a .50/1.00 game which I imagine would appeal to fishy and or intimidated players.

ameristar AINEC... others try to compete... but they are all choosing to rake us to death so we might as well go where there are a ton of game selection opptys and 2/5 with total maniacs..... hopefully someone will wise up and offer lower rake

I pretty much agree with the above concerning the outrageous rake ($5 + $2bb = $7 max per hand). For that reason I stopped playing 1/2/100 even though I usually play 1/2 NL in Las Vegas where the rake is a bit more reasonable ... plus it's no limit instead of $100 max bet. Think about this: with an average of 30 hands/hr, that means 7*30 = $210 is leaving the table PER HOUR! I realize that not every hand reaches the max rake, but that should give you pause. That's why I play 2/5/100 instead.

GG has 5/10 Omaha 8 with a 1/2 kill with no bb rake so the total rake in that game is $5. I was playing that game when I was up in Blackhawk until the $13,000+ bad beat jackpot hit recently. The only reason I don't keep playing is that I definitely am very green at Omaha 8.

More money is leaving the table for rake/bbj at 2/5-100. I'm not sure the larger pots will make up for the larger rake being taken on avg.

there are bigger monkies at 2/5
ie you can make it 125 pre with KK and a dude will gladly call with 99 when you have a 300 stack because he "puts you on Aces"

you still find morons at 1/2, but not guys like this

hence 2/5 is a much better game than 1/2

go to the ameristar tonight and watch a few hands--- these maniacs are very very very bad at basic poker skills
