I've played it both Tuesday and Wednesday during the day. You'd have to get someone who is more of a regular to see if it runs every day. I'm guessing yes, but I don't know.

1-2 tables daily(mostly 1), more on weekends. This is pre-wsop, but i doubt its changed.

It's official...Isle will host the "WPT Colorado Deep Stacks" October 5-16, 2011. This will be a series of tournaments that will end with a WPT Regional Event October 14-16, 2011. We will have all details in the poker room and on our website by mid-August. Single and multi-table satellites will start September 1, 2011.

Best,
Matt

question: Best affordable hotel in BH or CC for friday and saturday? I usually drive down the hill to the LaQuinta in Golden but it's such a PITA that I've booked a room at Ameristar this weekend. It's hard for me to wrap my head around a $200 per night room which is why I've been willing to drive down to the LQ.

Also, I was surprised how smoothly the transition to the Bravo system worked out. I was expecting a giant cluster f but things were pretty smooth. Some small issues like the podium people not figuring out fill/open seats/brush calls but I'm sure that will be fixed. I really like being able to get on the waiting list at the kiosk and have them text me when my seat is open.

I think the strat talk is great because of the entertainment value. How often do you hear anything resembling helpful strat talk?

Checking it down HU is worse for the game than the strat talk. More importantly, saying the games are good on a site like this is an invitation for the good players to saturate the games and take all the monies. I can't believe the game has been running for as long as it has since I didn't think it was sustainable.

The games are getting tough.....very very tough.

Did a player fold face up his flopped top set on the river to your donk bet HU in a med sized pot when the flush and straight came in? That IS annoying. I only ask because I saw this on the must move table and was like, huh. I welcome people folding big hands face up HU on the river to one bet. It says SO MUCH about their play.

Saturday table 1 was chopping a lot of blinds pre but table 3 was.........um.......not chopping, EVER. Table selection?

went up monday evening. I didn't play the 30/60 game but it was going from the time i showed up around 10pm and was still going strong when I left in the early early morning hours tuesday (1 table). It seems to almost always be running whenever I am up there

I inquired about the status of the game on weekdays, and the two dealers I asked both said it goes every day. They said it usually starts around midday and breaks in the morning. The two I asked said they could not remember a shift when they had not seen it go.

Has anyone played the Sunday noon tourney at the Gates lately? Was wondering how many tables they usually have. The Saturday noon has had 9 or 10 tables the past few weeks...

I didn't see that hand specifically. I am referring to people folding over pairs or top pairs that are obviously no good and then talking about it or showing it.

You must be talking about late on Saturday. During the day, table 3 was chop central for a while so I moved to table 1.

Was up there on Saturday night for first time in 9 months. The 30/60 game was as soft as I have ever seen it. I couldn't believe how many people would buy in with $300, get stacked and t hen buy in again. Reminded me of the 2/5 games from yesteryear where people would buy in with $40.
Question is, were they ape**** aggro or were they just calling it down into oblivion?
07-19-2011 , 06:44 PM
Some people can do both, as the mood strikes.

haha, the action table certainly changes as the players rotate tables. nice call on the table change. It can be the difference between 3.5BB pots and 15BB pots.

late Saturday table 3 was um.....tough.....really really tough.

The only real aggro I saw were of the asian persuasion who do their standard bet/raise to try and get everyone to fold. Other than that it was mostly standard calling station stuff. I was quite surprised at people's willingness to call down light in a 30/60 game but hey all those years of 2/5 limit are hard to get out of your system I guess.

In any case we are lucky to have this game in Colorado. I know a lot of people don't want the bad beat jackpots but the 30/60 game would never happen without it.

Are there any tournaments I could play this weekend? preferably satursmday night. I am from Sacramento and will be there all weekend, but have some family stuff Saturday during the day.

Is there anywhere that has a current listing of the casinos in BH with tournament schedules?
I have not been to BH on a regular basis since the Gilpin days and I assume that a few things have changed....

I don't remember any of the CC casinos doing tourneys, and I can only think of the one casino that even has a poker room.
Thanks for the links, was kinda wondering if there was a place that keeps up with the casinos and their tourney schedules in one place (just trying to be lazy on my part).
like this one but with better updates:
www.pokertournamentformula.com
They still show the Gilpin as having tournaments!

I will be at the isle Friday and Saturday (if the little women will let me!) for the first time since the poker room opened...Matt, you have a lot of hype to live up to. Hope you do
PS - already booked my room for the WPT in October

By the way. The rake increased to the rest of the marker. It was a 90 day Promo. The isle is still my most frequented poker room (sorry Matt, I haven't introduced myself yet), but I was very upset about the rake being raised. In all of Matt's postings on here and on the twitter account I could not find where he advertised it as a promotion vs standard $4 rake. Nor was there a poster up in the room advertising it. Didn't search every post so it COULD have been mentioned, but he certainly failed to mention the promotion fact MANY times.

We did mention at the beginning that we were "opening with a $4 max rake." The simple fact was that we offered that as an opening incentive for players to play in our room. Had the $4 rake been a driver of business, we would have continued it. Unfortunately, it wasn't. We still have the best rake in town, being only one of two that take the first jackpot dollar at $20 and the only room that has a "No flop, no drop" rule. I'm glad that you play in our room and hope that you will introduce yourself the next time you're in.

Best,
Matt

Make sure you introduce yourself. Always like to put a face with a name...or screen name anyway.

Best,
Matt
