its like alcohol minus having bar type places you could publicly consume at.

and yeah you arent going to find any GOOD apartments for 700, just decent ones you can put up with for a year to stack up and move onto something better.

I am considering a job offer in Boulder and I am wondering, as a LHE player between 8/16 and 20/40, will I be happy there or are there no such games in the area?

Black Hawk is about a 1 hour drive from Boulder. On the weekend you can play 4/8 or 30/60 LHE, during the week only 30/60. The 30 game is probably as soft or softer than any 20 game you'll find anywhere. Will that make you happy?

Not too many people move to Colorado for the poker but rather for the outdoor lifestyle. Boulder is a pretty unique place if you can afford to live here (18 years for me).

Thanks a lot for the quick answer. A 30/60 game would make me happy indeed, but I reckon it'll be a while until I can afford that.

I have lived in the Denver area before and loved it. I would assume that the 4/8 game is unbeatable due to rake?

Bummer there is nothing in between though, it is quite a jump BR wise from 4/8 to 30/60, are there any games in between in other areas like cripple creek?

I appraise apartment properties, especially in Central Denver. I suggest that you talk with Cornerstone or Red Peak as they manage a lot of good properties. PM me if you want more details. Typical 1BR non-renovated are around $800, fixed up they can be $1200. 2BR are about $1200 non-renovated and $1600+ if they are nice.

If you want to be close to the Green Mile on south Broadway, there are some good places in Englewood/Littleton that have been renovated.

See how easy it is to get 10/20 limit running, you just need to show up at the Gates at ~10 PM on Wednesday night!

Are the fun players showing up at the Gates, or are they still hanging out at Ameristar?

Playing Astar tonight, they're down to 14 tables because of the move, 30/60 list is huge as there's only 3 tables. Nominal opening date Dec 19th, 22 tables and 9-handed. Should be nice to be away from the noise

We always say that. Don't you worry that the poker room being out of sight takes it out of mind? I sort of remember the last time the room was moved to a more quiet/hidden spot that it didn't help traffic. Maybe as the top room, it won't matter.

I don't think too many random people waiting in the buffet line at A* think to themselves, "Hey poker! I should go sit at the 30/60 game!" And, even if that guy thought, "Hey poker! I should go sit at the 1/2-100 game!" he'd find the 2+ hr wait on most Friday/Saturday nights pretty daunting. So I don't think it will have any effect on the 30/60 game, but it may at times slow the random guy at 1/2. Seems that the poker room there is now such a destination that I don't think the move will affect traffic much if at all.

The new equipment is supposed to come in on Dec 17th, so 2 days to get it all set up, seems pretty dicey.

Getting rid of the 3 small tables already seems like a bad idea, the new slot machines were pretty much deserted while the poker wait time was ridiculous. I waited ~1 hr for a 2/5-100 seat and 2.5 hrs for 30/60 seat, after calling in 45 minutes before I got there.

New tables and chairs, I guess the tables will be smaller for the 9 handed game

Nice. Maybe they'll take this opportunity to clean the chips.

One can dream, right?

Playing with the wrong chips is a case of a dumb idea being epic genius. Think of the old Bellagio 8/16 playing with $1 checks. The massive and uncountable pots make the game good. You have the $25 and $100 chip betting tells. It is an abomination and probably costs you a hand or two an hour, but it could be one of the main reasons the game has been good for as long as it has. People who care about rake and care about games being played with the "correct chips" should hate the game. Also if the game already plays like the small blind is $20 but the SB is only $15, it should be good for you. Once the game starts being populated by nits who like to fold their blinds, then you want that $20 small blind that comes with $10 chips.

Haven't been itt for a few weeks, there's a couple topics I can comment on:
* I love riding the bus up the hill. It costs $22 roundtrip, and Lodge and Isle will both reimburse you $20 back after a few hours of play. Ameristar does not reimburse. There are several spots around town you can catch the bus, and unless something's wrong, the bus comes every hour. You can't drive up there for just $2, and you don't have to sweat getting loaded and having to drive home.
* I would not live in Aurora, myself. The cops are harder (vs Lakewood/Denver cops, who are fairly laissez faire), and more important to me, weather just hammers them. I've been out there a few times when it hailed, and there was a bad hail storm that did allot of damage. I'm sure there're those that love Aurora, but it's not for me.
* MJ is generally verboten up there. I know at least 2 places have signs up stating "Marijuana is not allowed on this property". Having said that, so long as you're quick and discreet, you can get it done. It's never slowed me down. I just step out on the smoking patio, grab a few puffs, and go back inside. Generally noone cares, just don't make a scene of it and force confrontation.

Thanks for the info man. That's awesome you can get a free ride there and back pretty much. You mean the cops are harder on the MJ or just in general?

In general. There's a pretty significant part that's just straight 'hood, so there's that, plus Aurora's got a pretty right-wing population because of the Air Force base. Ask any Phish-head what Virginia Beach is like, and you'll get my gist (though VA Bch is worse, for sure).

There's plenty of those along the I-70 corridor, 45th-47th Ave (mostly Aurora lol). Mostly around $12/hr, and almost all are drug-free. Sure, MJ is legal here, but probably 80+% of jobs specifically forbid it, claiming that it's still against the law federally, and those are the guidelines insurance follow.

Yeah I wouldn't want to stay in that area I want to stay in closer route to Black hawk . Most jobs just drug test to get on. $12 isn't that much I know PFG and sysco pay good you know anyone that's ever worked at either one?
