I'd probably be down for that.

Poker is only the hand of the day... which is 250$ for whomever got the best hand that day. Also if multiple people get a royal flush you have to split the 250$ . They say that this is giving the players too much already...

Lol, have you ever played at like 5am when they're unloading the boxes of all the rake. The guys almost break their back taking all that money. They are making boatloads off us, they can easily give more benefits to players

They could probably afford to do $100-$150 for hand of the hour and $500 for hand of the day.

lol @ thinking they will ever give us anything back, you litteraly have to beggg them for a breakfeast coupon after playing for 7 hours. Half rake when shorthanded, they laugh at ur face and think ur crazy.

Was playing at the 5/10 last night and we argued about something with one of the chefs (the fat one with glasses) and he talked back to us like we were in primary school, this is what he said in french "we have rules and that's it, just play your game and that's it that's all", the man knows 0% about poker and lectures us like we are ******ed.

Anyways, I'm loving their new buyin structures, so at least they did something right for a change. But the days of comps like you see at the best poker rooms like the V or Borgata is still far far away. Don't get me wrong they have the money to comp you, but that's only reserved for people that play 2k/hand in Blackjack obviously.

Hey, Casino de Montreal staff. I'm pretty sure you guys lurk here so, here goes. We're happy with the improvement of the poker room. It's a much better room than it was about a year ago. Calling ahead, getting rid of the electric tables, new counter instead of just a podium for sign ups, TVs in the pit game areas out of the poker room that display the waiting list... yeah, we're really thankful for all that. It's totally cool of you guys.

However, as you may have gathered from the last series of posts in this thread, we'd appreciate better comps and benefits as poker players. We know we probably don't generate as much profit as the slot jockeys or roulette grinders but we're human too. It'd seem reasonable to get a coupon for a free meal after a 12+ hour session. I guarantee a free meal (which probably costs the casino around $5) will score huge points with a lot of players. Catering to a human being's very basic needs shows that you care. The regulars would be happier regulars; new players are more likely to become regular players; and kids like me, part time student/part time grinder, love nothing more than a free meal. And don't just stop at the free meal. Based on our playing hours (as tracked by our player cards), you could probably give us points which when accumulated, could be redeemed for goodies at the boutique (you guys have some cool stuff there. One time, I pulled a 10 hour session, forgot it was my roommate's birthday, and bought him a present from there. True story. ), tournament entry ticket, drinks at bars, gaming credit for slots machines, etc. Think of it as a form of rakeback. Most online poker sites do it and players love it.

And furthermore, we feel that the Hand of the Day promotion could be more generous. Instead Hand of the Day, why not Hand of the Hour? It doesn't really have to be an hour, it could be at a more frequent interval than 24 hours. It'd be a great motivation to stay and play for just another orbit.

With all due respect, if you care too much about the bottom line, you'd lose players or potential players. If you care about the players, make it so they want to come back, your bottom line would follow. Well, that's all. Thanks for hearing me out. Or reading me out.

And 2+2 poasters/Casino de Montreal players, if for some reason the casino staff is not lurking, can we put that in paper form and sign petitions or do something of the like?

Aren't most of the players bad anyways?

Will the Montreal poker scene now have a Moneymaker effect? What changes could be made?

It depends. I have been at super internetty/nitty 1/2 tables where its like fold fold fold fold fold, raise $6 fold fold ,call. crap like that, and they pot control overpairs, etc. I have heard of worse play than what i think is average here in some places in states.

I dunno about any boom, but there should be a non-zero effect increasing the number of people playing poker at casino.

Was there today at like 2PM. Lists for all the games. Like 30+ for 1/2, 10 for 2/5, 5 for 5/10, and I even think there was a 10/20 game running.

Seemed packed especially for a thursday. Duhamel Boom? Or is it always this packed...

played from 2-9pm today, had to wait maybe 5 minutes for 5/5 game and was mostly open seating most of the day at 5/5 (2 tables) with one 5/10 running as well. list for 10/20 but dont think it ever got going. 1/2 game had long lists all day i think. play of course extremely terrible as usual, amazing how many people go broke with top pair over and over. Louis (I think thats his name) <sp?> (Asian young kid) started day with like 800 at 2pm at our 5/5 table and left with 6.5k at 8pm, I kid you not.

bof this other dude, a decent online player has been crushing the 5/10 for the past few weeks, apparently he is up like 70k since the 5/10 started a month ago, saw him with a 20k stack once.

I saw him leave with 4 racks. He was on table 7. I was on table 3 which was also a 5/5

Yep, 4 racks of red, one rack of greens, and a bunch of blacks he just stuffed into his sweatshirt pocket, pretty suck run in the short amount of time. He is a good player but admittedly even by him he was running better than God, amazing amount of sets all afternoon and getting paid of every time.

Actually a sign you're running good, flop is 3910, he has 99, another player has 1010, and he actually breaks even because a third player was all in as well creating a decent size side pot.

I'd like some input on something from you guys. I currently play at the poker room occasionally (like once a month max.)

I'm thinking of going more often (like 3 times a week) to play 1/2$. My question is: based on the level of play at the room, what's the minimum BR I could realistically start with, while having a decent shot at running it up?

I'm thinking a 2k start playing 100$ sessions is doable, but I would need to run good in the beginning. Maybe even 3k.

I'm aware it's not perfect BR management, but I believe it's doable playing 50bb's with a low-variance style vs. the fish at the room.

Opinions? Sharing your own schedule/game/BR would be appreciated too, for my own curiosity.

Thanks.
