I had a hand where I went all in, and villan pushed all his chips forward up to the line, then stopped as an angle shoot. I asked dealer if it was a call, he said no.

he also showed me his cards, I dont know if that is legal, although I didnt complain because I didnt want his hand killed. so kinda curious about this rule too.

A. the chips cross the line is a bet

B. can not recall a case of forward motion
being declared a bet by a dealer in the
last thousand hours of play, the poker guide
is silent, though i suspect there is a house
rule concerning forward motion, i
have never heard it articulated in a sentence in English.
you have a better chance of being busted for smoking
pot or being struck by lightning, and that hasn't
happened to my knowledge either...

...the poker guide is strong on fair play and has
a dislike of angle shooting, so I suspect there is
a house rule to not encourage angle shooting of the type
you describe...

I have had the floor rule (the old incompetent one that works midday during weekdays at 2/5) that after one player put 90 out after I bet 190 that it wasn't a call because he misheard what the dealer said. This person had a $115 stack.

The floor people are completely useless.

rob's right, first and foremost.

my understand is the betting line is not in play at the borgata. So making a distinct forward motion would be a bet.

Last time I asked a dealer about the line I was told that it does play but if a player is using it as an angle the floor can rule it as a call.

4) For chips held in the hand, forward motion which reaches the vicinity of the extended betting line commits a player to take at least some minimum action; but if that action is a bet or a raise, the precise amount of the action may still need to be determined.

7) None of these guidelines supersede the authority of the poker supervisor to make decisions intended to preserve the equity and fairness of the game. Furthermore, any attempt by a player to use the betting line to manipulate or circumvent the rules of poker will be considered by management to be a punishable action.

2) Once chips are dropped, pushed or cut out onto the felt, on or inside the betting line, they are irretrievable.

Ok so I've had a situation where I was running a bluff and action was on me after the turn. I cut out the amount I was going to bet, put the chips down inside the betting line and while I was placing the chips down, villain picked up his cards and moved them over the betting line as if to indicate a fold (total forward motion). I released the chips from my grasp and he then pulled his cards back (he never released them).

Should I have called the floor? I was going to but it would've been like writing BLUFF on my forehead.

I'll definitly play either of these games. When you start it up make sure they call it in the high limit room as well as the low limit section. Maybe it will get off the ground since its the first weekend of the Summer Open.

Thinking about grinding at the Borgata for 4 months. Anyone have a recommendation on or knowledge about a place to stay? It's not easy finding a temporary place. Feel free to pm me if so. Thanks.

(let me know if you find out anything. I am sort of interesting in coming up next summer. The real question is...is there anywhere nice to stay near the borgata? I make enough money that Im not staying in even a lower middle class neighborhood, much less lower class)

Brigantine. I'm sure you can find a nice rental there and it's minutes from the B.

Can anybody explain the rules for the "Yellow Chip Bounty All-in or Fold..." tournament on June 12? The "...All-in or Fold..." part is what is in question.

If it's already explained somewhere, please point to it. TYIA.

It's exactly as it sounds. You only have 2 options, fold or go all in. There are still blinds and everything else.

See herein lies the problem. Not one floor person could give me the same rule. I asked everyone of them that came over to our table (about 5) and there was no consensus on whether or not it was forward motion or the line. This is the problem because it allows people to play within the "rules" and angle people.

I thought the rule was that as soon as the chips came past the cards?

Is there a 3:00 PM $220 "Summer Open" Black Chip Bounty NLH tournament this Sunday, June 10th?

I see it listed on http://www.thepokeratlas.com/city/atlantic-city/18/ but for some reason cannot find it listed anywhere else. (?)

I also recall hearing that some of the "regular" daily-type tournaments don't run during the Summer Open.

Any word on any one-day NLHE tournaments this Sunday afternoon??
Thanks.

Also known as a "courtesy line", and it's not as uncommon as you may think. The 2 largest poker rooms on the east coast use it (Foxwoods and Borgata).

They cancel the daily tourneys during the series.

Here's the list of both main event tourneys and non-main event tourneys (1-49): http://www.theborgata.com/assets/PDF...MainEvents.pdf

You're referring to event #28.

Lots of players will reach out with a handful of chips, count out a bet with part of the handful, and pull the rest back. Forward motion doesn't seem to matter. Dealers will sometimes tell players to move their bet over the line. Surprisingly, most players don't seem to mind, they just wait until the bets are clear.

Pink definitely yes. We started last night 4 handed and at one point it got up to 7.

I'll give it a shot then.

Does anyone know what the table situation will be around 2-3 PM ?
They might be scarce with the Summer Open tournaments going on...

the Guidelines for using the betting line are specifically designed to stop folks from "playing within the 'rules' to 'angle' people" (assuming you have an interest in the Borgata rules and not simply making them up for a more interesting debate):

4) For chips held in the hand, forward motion which reaches the vicinity of the extended betting line commits a player to take at least some minimum action; but if that action is a bet or a raise, the precise amount of the action may still need to be determined.

7) None of these guidelines supersede the authority of the poker supervisor to make decisions intended to preserve the equity and fairness of the game. Furthermore, any attempt by a player to use the betting line to manipulate or circumvent the rules of poker will be considered by management to be a punishable action.
