Because they track flags, cashing in and coloring.

And having a crap load of pumpkins in your pocket is just irritating.

I will say that having two racks and some rubber bands creates an easy way to travel with chips, minus the fact that the borgata has over sized chips for anything that is above $500...

Went over to the Borgata for the week. Another excellent week. It is absolutely incredibly how bad the 1/2 players are even at 5 AM on a random thursday night. Had a couple of pretty bad beats and spew bluffed 450 bucks into the nuts, and still ended up way in the black. I am probably one pretty good trip away from being rolled for 2/5, so hopefully my early April trip will be my last 1/2 trip.

Also, I played over at Caesars for about two hours while waiting for the bus, and god its so awful. Two hands had to be pulled back because they had upside down cards in the deck, and the dealers have the worst aim ever. They flip cards over by throwing them into stacks, off the table, or just throw them not even close to you.

The 1/2 players ARE worse there, anyone who says otherwise is just wrong. Someone will bet $30 into a $11 pot with top pair, and someone else with a flushdraw will shove another 140 on top. I also saw someone bet 5 dollars into a 120 dollar pot, and someone else minraised it to 10. But everyone is shortstacked because they are all poorfish, and im sure the 2/5+ games are far less juicy (if they even exist). At Caesars seems like most people buy in for 40-100 and might have 200 or 300 if they rungood. At Borg everyone buys in for 200-300 and if the fish have some rungood they could get up to 600 or 700 before finally getting stacked or getting scared and cashing.

Also Im pretty sure I saw the first wrong ruling this weekend. Not a big one. 3 players in the pot, I bet flop, first player calls, dealer flips over the turn before third player acts, floor called. 3rd player finally decides to fold, and floor says the turn stays. I guess maybe it wouldnt matter since the turn card did not affect action for the first two players

I saw the exact same thing happen a second time, and it was reshuffled into the deck and redealt, so its more of an inconsistancy issue than a matter of how it affects the action.

I don't really like leaving the casino with chips either, pain in the ass.

They do not track the 5k chips. I routinely color down 5k's at the cashier when starting a session and then color back up to 5k's at the cashier when I'm done. They don't ask for your player card or ID when doing chip for chip transactions.

As far as getting a box, you just need to talk to Mabel or Stan repeatedly.

If you cash/color up or down 10k if chips they have to, as any 10k transaction requires a CTR now.

You get the same bad players at 2/5. They just have deeper pockets. I played 8 hours on a Friday night and picked up almost 3 BI at 2/5 combo rungood and played even better.

There are more comfortable places in which to carry chips.

Yeah, im very excited. Next trip I'm gonna play some long sessions to try to build my bankroll. Id like to be able to invest 4 buyins to 2/5 so I can take a legitimate shot at it instead of relying on some rungood. Based on what everyone's said, once I get up there, hopefully I wont ever go back to 1/2. And then I can start working towards 5/10 and beyond

You are incorrect. Less than 24hrs ago I went to the cage with 15k in 1k, $100, and $25 chips, asked for 5k's in return, and, as usual, no paperwork was done.

As long as you aren't getting cash, chip - chip transactions require no paperwork.

It should also be noted that the poker room cashier is the only one in the casino that will color you up/down.

This is nice and all, but useless if you don't have a box and don't want to take chips home with you. Thanks for the info though, good to know for the future.

Best of luck to you....

I don't put in long sessions anymmore. I've found that I play me best when I play 5 hours max. Then I will recharge my batteries (walk, eat and shower) then do another sesh. If I play longer I'm not 100% focused at the task at hand. This hurts my winrate and is also not +ev.

RaraDevils,

Well said sir, I have been travelling in the same boat for the past two/three months.

Build a nice stack in the first 2/3 hours then run into monsters (a few of them) and loose it all after a few hours.

I seem do a lot better with 4/5 hour sessions.

Just looking at the Spring Open Schedules.... looks like the championship game takes place during the week.... That kind sucks, I wish some of the days were over the weekend like Foxwoods has it. This means people who work during the week would need to take off of work.

I would def use protection when carrying chips this way. Easier insertion and removal, plus poker chips are nasty.

I want to preface this post as I only want/need Stan to answer because anything else is just speculation, so, ty.

Stan:

Please tell me the rule re: the games that are spread in the 40/80 mix game.

If the game is in progress and someone suggests to either add another game, or, to remove an existing game from the mix, can you please tell me what has to happen for this to occur? Do you need more than 1 player to object or is it based on the majority?

Ex:
8 handed game and I suggest adding badugi but 3 players object. Well obviously, that's not the majority(because it would take 5 players for that obv.) but, it is more than 2. So, what's the rule? And, whatever the rule is, is there a way to make sure it sticks? It seems as though the Floor doesn't want to get involved re: this matter and I really wish they would.

For as long as I can remember its always been: of two players object to adding or removing a game, then it stays the way it is. Now, suddenly I am hearing it's the majority.

This is false. The players at Borgata 2/5 are not only deeper, they are better than you will find at 1/2. In fact I would say much better. More aggressive, more tricky, and simply more knowledgeable. Will you find the occasional craziness? Sure. But 5 others at the table will be figuring out how to take advantage of it along with you. Anyone expecting to simply move up to 2/5 and never look back will usually have a rude awakening in fairly short order. To genuinely beat 2/5 at the Borgata will take a significant commitment, a lot of focus, and possibly even some talent.
