I'm not really rolled to play that level, but I only go to A.C. like once a month, so no big deal. 3/6 is too low to make any money after the rake, and 5/10 never runs for any decent length of time, so my next choice is 10/20.

FWIW -- I usually take a bus down, so my approx. time frame to play is Saturdays or Sundays, noon-6.

I should also ask about Omaha 8.

Up to 10/20, is that also worth playing at Borgata? It's not my best game, but I think I'm fundamentally solid, and is that usually enough to make money at live O-8?

Theres a 10-20 two way game that runs O8 and Stud8. Also has a half kill. My fav game at the borg.

Plenty of limping, and chasing, especially on weekends. Plenty of bad slow-playing, and plenty of 5-outers otr. The weekday games are much nittier. Weekend nights are by far the loosest, as expected. I agree with Stak that many valuebets are missed. People will call down with nada if you can build a laggy image. If you play taggy, try to get a timepot going, it will save you plenty. Go get 'em!

Can't make it Friday, but will be there Thursday evening for a bit and then Sat afternoon - about 1:00 or so. I'd ask them to start a list on Thursday but I'll only be there for a couple of hours at best

4/8 HOSE went last Friday afternoon. I got plenty drunk after a nice score @ 2/5 and donated a couple hundred to a bunch of senior citizens

Worst part about it was I only had like 7 beers and was completely ****faced. I misread my hand in stud8 (thought I had a meaningless 7 low w/ A-high flush but obv didn't have the flush and lost to a wheel for a big pot I'm such a ****in moran!), saw like every flop in Omaha, and basically just handed money away.

Put your name on an interest list, say you'll play 4 or 5-handed to get the game off, and see what happens.

Regarding the 10/20 game on the weekends. I do not know where this game is at Borgata but please tell me. The last 3 times I played 10/20 I was rivered every single time by people playing Bingo (yes it was 3 bet by these same people the entire way). I gave up on trying to play the 10/20 at the B because of this. I am a VERY solid limit player and know the game very well. Much perfer the 5/10 because I like to play poker rather than Bingo.

hey taaemt,

if you are a solid limit player you have to enjoy the action at the 10/20 weekend game. loose call, peeling on the flop for a backdoor draw, and chasing two and three outers til the river make the game very profitable in the long run. If the short term swings are too much for you, perhaps you should build the bankroll.

Any theories on the poor turnout for the Heads up 3k? Satellites next time?

Stan,
I'm sorry but i have some negative feedback for you about the Limit holdem event.

Here was the structure: 7k in starting chips
Limits(Realize these are the betting limits not the blinds)
25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200
150/300
200/400
300/600
400/800
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000
Not sure what was next, i busted out at 1k/2k

Please don't take this as me being bitter that i did not cash. I think the change in stakes each level was fine, the main problem that i had was that the levels were only 30 minutes. I know that this tournament can't go all night. But i was knocked out around 40th/120 and probably you guys were down to 3 tables by the 7pm dinner break(Started at noon).

When i came by at 10:30 they were down to 11 handed.

Me and the wife over the last week rallied to get as many Limit cash game players to help the turnout.

we counted 15 regular 10/20 - 20/40 players that we knew in the tournament. All 15 of us ponied up $20 for a last longer bet. Out of 15 regular pretty good limit players 4 of us made the top 40 and only 1 of us made the money(top 18).

Please please stan in the future can you give us the same 40/45 minute levels that you give NL tournaments. You can keep the starting chips the same, the level time is what needs to be changed. many of the regulars i talked to seemed frustrated at the structure and said they probably wouldn't play again if the structure stayed the same.

Figured i would share the feedback that i heard from many players in case you hadn't.

The thing that was awesome was that the field was pretty week, i saw some amazingly bad limit poker being played.

For example, even at the 400/800 level we still had tons of 5 people to the flop for 2 or 3 bets.

One example hand from 800/1600:
UTG+1 limps?!?!? MP raises, MP+1 calls, i fold my trash in the SB, BB calls,UTG+1 calls.
4 to the flop for 2 bets. Flop comes Q - 10 - 2 rainbow.
SB leads, UTG +1 folds, MP raises, MP+1 3 bets, BB thinks for a MINUTE!!!! and folds, MP caps.
Turn is Q - 10 -2 -2 MP bets, MP+1 raises all in. They chop the pot with Q -10 off!! BB gets up and starts cursing that he folded his 2-3 Off on the flop since he would have hit the turn.

I would love to play in this game all day with these people, and it was great at the lower levels where you can afford a suckout etc..., however when we got to 600/1200 the average stack was 9k. Which didn't leave you with much to make a mistake or fade a beat.

Just some food for thought for the september limit events.

Ruby

Edit to add:
Play a Limit holdem event for 6 hours and not make any money: -$400
Putting $100 in a slot machine to blow off some steam and hitting a spin for $600 to get your tournament entry and then some back in less than 5 minutes.... priceless

The believe Sept and Jan had 45 minute levels. I will talk to Tab about the 30 min levels. This is not negative feedback. I believe that any feedback is positive. When you guys stop talking to us, that would be negative.

Nick states it very well here in the BSO thread:

I am thinking about playing the LHE tournament (event 23), but I looked up the structure online and was very disappointed. Compared to the NL events, the blinds start lower, but increase faster. This is the exact opposite from what should happen in a Limit tournament.

What is the point in having a level with a 50 chip big bet (and 25/25 blinds) when you start with 7000 chips? When people have 140 big bets in their stack, it is impossible for any player to win or lose more than a trivial number of chips. There is really no point in playing the first level. So what happens is you waste the first few levels with the blinds way too low and no one busting out, and then everyone is quickly short-stacked in the middle of the tournament and forced to gamble on one or two hands, no matter how well they did in the early levels.

In the future, I would recommend starting the tournament with 30-50 big bets, but then have blinds increase very slowly for the first several hours.

With the structure as is, I don't really seem much value in this tournment.

I asked about satellites a few weeks ago and got no repsonses. I would have tried to sat in but can't roll 3k. A 10 person $300 STT would be nice.

Stan, in the winter lets do it!

will you run single table sattys all night on saturdayto the main event??

or if there are no sattys what is the highest game that usually runs on saturday night?? (so i can try to turn my 1k into a main event entry)

always enjoy the borgata tourneys (except for the card dead part and huge losses part) (but the structures are good)

really enjoyed the 6 max so much more enjoyable than full ring.

I call BS on this one. In 6 years of playing at Borgata, I haven't seen anywhere close to 15 good limit players.
